I don't often give a review with five stars. T & C Surf Designs Pearlridge, however, deserves my 5-star rating for their outstanding customer care. Went in to buy an early Xmas gift card for a family member. I walked towards the T-shirts section and a female asked if I needed help. I inquired about who to see for a gift card. She pointed to the front register AND said she'll walk me there. After getting rung up at the front, I went back to the T-shirts area to thank and compliment that gal for her excellent customer service. Her name is Chany and she told me that she's the manager. I can't resist outstanding customer care and ended up buying two gift cards. It's not a common experience anymore to get escorted in a store whenever I go shopping. Nothing like the feeling your patronage is valued and appreciated. I only wish they'd sell T & C gift cards online or digital cards to use in their stores. read more

I love T&C though this location always seem to draw me in... It's their insane creativity...the fun local quotes that goes straight to the point and the graphics that embrace the love we have all things food in Hawai'i is a fun conversation piece especially when gifting knowing it's going to a specific person you know it's speaking for. Today it was the shirt for Maui and it's devastation it's going through that just breaks my heart and I've already done a bunch of donations in monetary and items as well it's never ever gonna be enough and this shirt I saw through the window along with a sign "Wildfire Relief Fundraiser" where 100% of the proceed will go to Maui and to get it goin in any way I did chose to purchase a shirt here not just because it's needed but the placement is front and center for all to see the first thing they walk in but came in ALL sizes for everyone and in different colors love love LOVE! I got the gray! There's also the cutest shirt adorable graphic of three types of spam musubi saying "Musu-baby"...gah!!! I will be back for my cutie Mutu-baby!! My husband wanted to stop by and see one of the Hawaiian surf brands that he used growing up in the 80s on the east coast of the mainland. It is a proper Surf Shop with boards for sponges and surfers, not just a mundane retail space in a mall. We were really impressed with the inventory since we came to visit after the surf season. 1-9-2021 zipped through anchor store, Macy's and decided to stroll the lower mall level to "walk." Easier said than done cuz took the up escalator and found myself looking at T&C's sale tables. There were 2 employees outside on each side of the door. The guy offered hand sanitizer to entering customers. I found two items for hubs to choose from to put his cell phone and glasses when he goes to pt. Gave him my Patagonia Fanny pack last time to use but it's since disappeared. You proceed inside to pay and are directed to join the line based on the floor stickers. The back cashier was brightly energetic and came to get me. I was asked if I needed to purchase a bag but I already had something to put my items in. You are thanked and wished a nice day with an outstretched hand passing you the receipt. Purchased a Brumate from the Ala Moana location last week. They DID NOT ask me to inspect the cup. The sales girl was having a hard time putting the cup in the bag and during the process dented the cup. When I went home I noticed there was a dent on the bottom of the cup. I went to the Pearlridge location and asked if I could do an even exchange, store credit, or full refund and the ONLY THING THEY COULD DO WAS GIVE ME A REFUND AT A DISCOUNTED PRICE. The workers here are A-W-E-S-O-M-E!! I've been procrastinating getting the stuff I need to participate in a graduation caravan next week. Been calling around for the chair I want to no avail, but after calling the Kapolei location they suggested trying this location. Luck was on my side because I was able to call last night and they let me know they have it in stock. Plus they were even able to tell me the price (something not many stores do). We went first thing this morning not that long after they opened. The workers were friendly and very helpful from the time we entered the store til the time we left. It was great that there was a display model so we could check it out. They even opened up the box so we could see the one we were buying. We even got the color I wanted!! I really enjoy visiting this location!! When you walk in the door you just feel like shopping!! There is so much selection from clothes to all different Hydroflask or Yeti products to my favorite...DaKine bags!!! I also like checking out the slipper section every time I visit just in case a pair catches my eye. Each time I had a question, one of the staff members helped me with a smile and knew so much information about the product. What I appreciate as well is once they talk to you, they give you the space you need to browse and compare without hovering. I feel like there are more products in this location than others. HIGHLIGHTS: - friendly service - large selection of men's T-shirts, with a good selection of sales/clearance items - decent selection of women's apparel - funny/weird/cool novelty items, like a toilet and food-themed pool floats. - cool items for tourists as well as local folk ("Hawaiian" without being tacky/touristy) - you could probably always find a gift for someone here, if you are willing to pay the price. LOWLIGHTS: - sometimes pricey, but that's to be expected keeping shop in one of Oahu's major malls. - kid's selection limited, but then again, it's not really a kid's store. Got in the store 15 minutes before closing. Had to pick up an item we ordered. The lack of customer service presented by the employees was bad. I get that they're closing and ready to leave but the way this one guy was giving my dad an attitude is just not it. We didn't say anything cause we're beat for the night and just wanted to grab the item and go. No "thank you" or "have a good day...". The sales guy pointed to all the boogie boards and asked what the intention was, my son doesn't boogie board, he basically tries to float in on the 2 ft waves so it's more like a floatie than anything else. Initially, my son picked one out that was nearly $400, but the guy said that's really expensive for just a floatie! He showed us and made recommendations on lesser expensive boards that would serve it's purpose and even told us how to care for it to get the longest use. We walked away saving a ton of money, paying less than $90, and my son got what he wanted for our next beach day! I would give it one star but the employee who rang me up was nice and understanding of the situation. I went in to pick up a replacement piece for my hydro and was treated very badly by 2 employees. One asked if I was okay i said yes just looking and he kept staring at me and eyeing me out like I was going to steal something (I was a supervisor before so I remember this tactic) BC he kept staring at me a looking at me very oddly I asked if there was a problem... Keep in mind a few mins passed as he asked me and I answered. He said no but continued to hoover for a bit before leaving and sending another girl to block me as if I was stealing g something and she kept giving g me stink eye and motioning like she wanted to fight me. I was helped by another employee thank god who seemed like a manager or supervisor so I explain end that the two I the front were making me very uncomfortable as I was doing nothing wrong and was really just looking and browsing thru my options. But told the cashier the story and he was very apologetic and told me he would talk to them he was really nice and great help I would give him 5*. As I was leaving I was eyed out again by those two same employees. I didn't have a bag BC it was a waste but clearly had the receipt in my hand with the item I purchased. But as I was leaving that girl I swear she had an attitude problem or something.... But she looked at me kept eyeing me out like I stole shit. I have never been treated this poorly at this store... They need to pick out actually theifs and not people who actually pay for their shit. Over all I give them a 2 because of how I was treated. This place has some great customer service and if you're looking for a water bottle, well, you can't go wrong. They have Swells, Hydro Flasks, Mizu bottles and local brands too. Expect to spend upwards of $30-40 for a bottle. They've got cleaners and holders too! T&C (town and country) has always been one of my most favorite surf shops in Oahu since i was a kid. My aunty in Salt Lake would take me to the original Pearl City shop to get geared up for the summer surf. Yeah, so i didn't look too katonk-ish lol. My other aunts always gave me great aloha shirts, (like Primo) so no problem there lol. This shop always had the latest quiksilver boardshorts and of course T&C logo'd shirts and stickers so was always a one stop to get everything i needed. Always had better designs before shops here on the mainland got them. My skateboarding helmet through the years always had the T&C original yinyang logo on it as well. Just brings back good memories of my younger years. 3/6/20 went to this store for the first time as I was looking for a new hydro flask. Peyton was so helpful in answering my questions and showing me all the different types of hydro flasks. I After hearing about the different types I bought the 32 oz YETI which Peyton assured me it was sturdy and durable as im on the rough side with my hydro flasks and reminded me to fill out the 5 year warranty. He was so patient and friendly and even greeted me with a genuine smile when I first entered and made me feel at ease as like I said it was my first time there so I was a little uneasy. They have some nice clothes but 1. The collars of ALL OF THEIR SHIRTS (that are displayed on hangers) are stretched out. ALL OF THEM. Not sure if the person who puts them on hangers doesnt know how to do it properly or what. I thought I bought something that someone destroyed while trying on but i went back and all of them were like that. 2. Majority of the t-shirts/longsleeves they have get all hard and shrink a lot after a few washes. Happened with every shirt I bought from there 3. Kind of pricey for the quality im getting. 4. Not their fault but I bought a hydroflask from here and had to bring it back to trade for another one 3x because it was sweating every time i put ice water in it. read more

Oh man, how the years have passed!!! I remember Town & Country Surf Shop was a tiny little place on Kam Hwy in Pearl City where the 7Eleven now stands! I used to go in there as a youth and drool over the freshly glassed boards on the old wooden racks... dreaming of the day I could afford one! If my memory serves me correctly, a board back then was around $125 bucks! Big money then, considering my first home made board costed my dad $65 bucks! T-shirts may have been like $10 and a bar of wax was .50cents... Ah, the days of my youth... Fast forward to the present day. Of all the surf shops that came and went over the years, Surfline, Lightning Bolt, Rich Parr, Town & Country is a survivor. A survivor of good and bad, happy and sad, good economy, bad economy. I think the owners made the right moves at the right times, taking into consideration what the fads and trends were at the corresponding time. The big boom in surfing in Japan probably had a lot to do with it too. Being able to keep up with these trends has made T&C a household name. Nowadays I mainly shop here for shirts and board shorts and all kinds of stuff for my niece and nephew! They'll grow up just as I did wanting that special surfboard or long board, that cool shirt, slippers or backpack. Whenever I step into a T&C shop, I am reminded of the dynamic, ever changing world of surfing...and how much it has evolved over the years! Congrats to them!!! read more

Where is the negative star rating? I hate this place. I hate coming here, but I do every month to see if they have new hydroflasks in. The line here is always super long. WHY? There are 2 people at each register, but the line moves SOOOOOO SLOW! I think I have been there about 5 times in the last 3 months. Every time I have to wait in line or politely interrupt the cashier- as there is never anyone on the sales floor- if they have new flasks yet. I just want ANY COLOR beside steel or black in the 18 oz. And unfortunately, they never have them in. I've even called 3 times. So this last time, I decided to just ask if maybe-just possibly-they could call me when the next shipment came in because I am tired of wasting my time, gas, and sanity coming into this damn store to wait in their line only to be told that they don't have any more in the back and they don't know if the next shipment will contain any flasks. Guess what... they have a call list. Why the heck did none of these wonderful associates ever tell me about this call list?!? Sigh... well, I got on the list about 3 weeks ago. Lets see if I actually get a call. **UPDATE** I ended up getting my flask at the Bike Factory. I decided to check back in to the T&C a few weeks later and there was the damn flask I was trying to get. Did anyone call me? Heck no. What a waste of energy that place is. read more

That's twice now that I've not been greeted or even acknowledged. I browsed the first time through the entire store near closing time. I even had a dress in my hand ready for purchase. Everyone seemed busy but there weren't that many customers. I figured because it was closing time, they were just trying to tidy up to go home. I understand that. I've worked before; I know how it feels. I've also received customer service training and know the importance of a simple smile. So I reconsidered my almost-purchase, and put it back where I found it. And left. I would try later during an earlier time to see if they would be any better. The store does not have a friendly vibe at all. I entered two hours prior to closing. Same thing. Man behind register closest to entrance does not even look at me. He's working on something, but it's not paperwork, so his brain isn't focused on a complex task. I listened to other customers around the store and none of them were acknowledged, and no one smiled. A woman bought something at the register where the employee ran her purchase through. Neither seemed happy. Is it store policy to not be nice? Called for directions since I hardly go to Ala Moana except for my trips to the Lego Store, Shirokiya or the Disney Store. Parked on the fourth floor parking and walked through the service entrance right up to the store. Not bad with baby in my arms. Immediately greeted upon entry into the store by a friendly and courteous employee. Told him exactly what I needed and he gave me several options, which were on spot. Found what I needed within 7 minutes and was out within 12. I was impressed with the customer service that it was given. Would I recommend this store and location to others ? Definitely!!! One of the longest reigning local/surf/skate shops. They are pretty much my go to place if I ever want to get local wear and stuff. They have everything from skateboards, board shorts, bikinis, swimwear, shoes, hats, clothing, apparel, slippahs, bags, backpacks, accessories, etc. They also carry a good amount of BJ Penn stuff since he is sponsored by RVCA. They even did some autograph meet and greet sessions down at the store which was pretty cool. They always have great stuff on sale during the seasons and sidewalk sales. My husband went in with his two children and dropped over $400. Included in this price was a watch he bought for himself, but was not happy with. The next day, we returned to the store to exchange the watch, when the manager told my husband "all sales were final." I checked the receipt and it did not say that. Then a saleswoman pointed to the counter and said "it says it right here." The sign said "all sales final on electronics." I never knew a watch was an electronic? I thought electronics were things that plugged in the wall and used electricity. The manager, after I said this, dis end up exchanging it.
