Joe showed up to give an estimate and stated it would require 2 men and would take about 3 hours to complete the job of installing an attic ladder. He was ready to do the job immediately. Unfortunately, we were not able to schedule the work for that day, but emphasized we were anxious to get it done. He did not return phone calls or texts over the next week attempting to schedule the work. When he called and was again ready to take the job, our scheduling allowed us to hire him. He showed up on time, alone. He said that his helper would not be here for a few hours and asked that we help with the job. Our goal was to complete this install and we agreed to whatever it would take to accomplish that objective. The job has been completed and the following is what we have learned from our experience with Reliable Handyman Services, Inc. 1. Joe does not return calls in a timely manner. 2. Joe does not give accurate, reliable estimates. 3. Joe does not "work clean". He did not use a tarp or make any effort to protect our carpet during the work. Sawdust and debris from drilling remain embedded in our hallway carpet. Possibly the most insulting aspect of this hire is what we discovered after Joe had gone. We hired Joe to provide and install a 350lb attic ladder - he installed a cheaper 250lb ladder. We had a 2x6 board in the attic that was our only way to walk safely across the attic. Joe decided on his own to cut up this board and use it in the project. He did not seek permission nor did he inform anyone of his desire to take and use our property. He appears to believe we would simply not notice. This becomes seriously offensive when you realize that Joe included a charge of $20 for unspecified materials. We will definitely NOT hire Reliable Handyman Services, Inc. again and cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone else.
