I am very lucky to be within a fifteen minute walk of restaurants from about 30 different countries. Ok maybe that's an exaggeration. Maybe it's like 28. But I live in the most diverse hood in Vienna....especially culinary-wise. My go-to Greek taverna is Restaurant To Syrtaki. It is less than a ten minute stroll and one that I happily do. I love eating at this Margareten eatery for many reasons. The atmosphere is charming, the menu is large and varied, and the owner is totally friendly. I can recommend basically everything here but I haven't tried everything. This week I stopped in for a classic saganaki - that is one made with Kaseri cheese. And then I had the Eintopf (casserole) Juvetsi for my main course. Everything was tasty and with Greek music playing in the background, it felt as if I were a thousand miles south of Vienna! This is one of my favorite Greek tavernas anywhere!
Tip - The owner is actually Cypriot so Restaurant To Syrtaki also serves up some delicious Greek-Cypriot dishes. read more
