We got off the train after a long day of site seeing and Sasso D' Oro turned out to be the best part the day.
The food is authentic Italian fare created by the owner himself, a true Italian Master Chef. He clearly enjoys pleasing his guests through sharing his talent and love of Italian cuisine.
The pizza kitchen is open to the downstairs seating area and allows you to watch your bread and pizza being prepared. Fresh local ingredients are used to prepare each dish. We ordered rosemary bread, pizza, lasagna, and the salmon...all of which were delicious!
The prices were very reasonable.
The atmosphere is casual with a bar and small eating area upstairs and two large dining areas downstairs. It was nice that they have both smoking and non-smoking sections that are completely separated. In the warmer months they also have a large cafe style seating area outside. The ambiance is great for a casual date out or a large family gathering.
The staff could not be more pleasant. The owner/chef was so friendly and made sure our food was just to our liking. He only spoke Italian so our waitress Elizabeth was helpful in translating for us. She spoke English, German and Italian and was very kind. I felt as though we were longtime friends.
If I were a local resident I would be back weekly. If ever I visit Vienna again I will most certainly plan a visit to Sasso D' Oro! read more
