After calling around to numerous locations, I was able to reach one and I got Josie. Wow!!! talk about exceeding expectations! I wanted to see Dr Gupta and the only available appointment was 2 days later. After hearing my frustration, she put me on hold and came back saying that "Dr. Gupta is cancelling a meeting he had and would see me on this very day". Who does that? I told Josie that was so nice of her and him to do this and her answer was "we care about the patients and their needs". Then I met Dr Gupta...what a wonderful person. He echoed what Josie said about caring about the patient and making sure all that can be done is done". He went on to explain my options and what I could expect in terms of costs. To top it off, after I was given the his portion of the costs for my procedure, I later got a call from Josie telling me that it would actually be $100 LESS. Again, WHO DOES THIS? My epidural is on Monday -- I hope that the facility where this will be done is as caring and efficient as Josie and Dr. Gupta. Thank you both for making me feel like a human being.

I saw him today for a rotator cuff issue on my right shoulder. I arrived 20 minutes early to fill out new paperwork. Within 5 minutes of my scheduled appointment time I was in an exam room with a nurse. 5 minutes later I was having x-rays taken, and 10 minutes later was seen by Dr. Bachner. Right now I'm waiting for an approval for an MRI from my insurance company. Their offices and exam rooms are clean, new and spacious. They even play nice music everywhere. Dr. Bachner is very nice, has excellent bedside manner, and takes his time with you, and is obviously knowledgeable. You never feel like you are at a McDonalds like you do with some other Dr.'s offices trying to jam through as many exams per hour as they can. In short, they don't fuck around there. This is the place to go. They are super efficient, well staffed, professional, and most importantly punctual.

I had meniscus surgery on May 23rd performed by Dr. Evan J. Bachner, MD. Shortly after, my knee…read morebecame severely inflamed, and the pain was unbearable--constant and intense, day and night. I couldn't sleep, and two separate physical therapists were unable to treat me due to the swelling. Despite my repeated concerns, Dr. Bachner and his office dismissed the severity of the situation. On June 7th, I went to the ER at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks. I spent 12.5 hours there before finally being admitted. After five fluid taps, they determined I was dealing with a gout flare-up and a bacterial infection in the joint. The ER doctors urgently wanted to perform a washout surgery to clear out the infection and crystals--but my insurance company denied it because they had already paid Dr. Bachner for the procedure. He was completely unreachable, didn't return calls, and only learned about my hospitalization through his neighbor, who happened to be one of his partners. He never followed up directly. On June 10th, I had a second surgery. When I woke up from the procedure, I was in extreme pain--easily a 10 out of 10. I later found out that no nerve block had been administered, despite prior discussions. After days of constant pain leading up to that moment, I couldn't believe it had been overlooked. The anesthesiologist was called back to perform the nerve block after the surgery, which finally gave me some relief. That should never have been an afterthought. Even earlier--at a follow-up after the first surgery--Dr. Bachner looked at my swollen, painful knee and told me everything was "normal." He sent me home without further investigation. It wasn't until I went to the ER that the real issue was uncovered. I have a 10-year documented history of gout, and somehow that wasn't taken into account. On top of all this, I waited two hours on crutches in Dr. Bachner's waiting room for a follow-up, without acknowledgment or explanation. His staff was cold and unprofessional. His own bedside manner was dismissive, and he showed little empathy for what I was going through. When I asked for better pain control, he responded by telling me he had already prescribed more than usual (Tylenol with codeine, which did nothing for me). It felt like he was more concerned about covering himself legally than actually managing my pain. Finally he prescribed something more strong. This entire experience--from misdiagnosis to post-operative care--was mishandled at every step. I went through 10 straight days of severe, unnecessary pain, and I truly believe it was avoidable. If you're looking for a surgeon who listens, responds, and treats you with compassion, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere than Dr. Evan J. Bachner, MD.

Very painful. The moment i hit my whole back was sprung. I could barely move. I went home immediately put ice on it took Advil and a muscle relaxer. My husband made an appt. For two days later. It was 9:00a.m. I went right into xray snd found i had a compression fracture L1. I was suppose to go to France next day. The PA said i don't think you are going. I pleaded with him and said i am not disappointing my grandson. Jonathan what a great guy, he spoke with Dr.Spayde, came back in and said, did you eat anything, luckily I didn't. He said we are going to do a kyphoplasty and you should be able to go without pain. So immediately i was triage, everyone came in. I got an MRI. The nurse who is the most sensitive caring person, (wish i remembered his name) was the best IV person I ever had. And the anesthesiologist was so kind and reassuring. This is s little past four weeks now and i feel great. I would give ten stars. How it is so amazing that all these guys got it together to fit me into their schedule. I can't thank them enough. But thank you, thank you, thank you!

In August of 2018 Erik Spayde performed a bi-lateral fusion for scoliosis treating severe sciatica…read more I did not know at the time, but the hardware was flawed, angled 40 degrees forward and totally mis-aligned with my sacrum; his flawed hardware basically crippled me, I could barely walk. Previously, at 73 I was in perfect health, surfing and backpacking. By the time I realized I was not going to get better the statute of limitation has passed. As a result of now being crippled I lost everything; my car, my company, everything I owned, and facing homelessness. I was told by 4 USC and UCLA spine surgeons the surgery was permanent and irreversble. I was devastated and depressed. Fortunately I found Dr. Alamin at Stanford, he diagnosed the mis-alignment, (I included my xrays) but told me he could fix it. I underent 8 hours of surgery, Dr. Alamin removed the flawed hardware, installed new hardware most of the way up my back, and I can basically walk, but I'd lost everything, I'll never get my life back and I'll never surf or backpack again. I wrote Dr. Spayde, and he denied his mistake, even though Dr. Alamin confirmed the mistake and that after his surgery I was able to walk and stand up straight. Dr. Spayde has glowing testimonials, but for me, he derailed my whole life, a life I will never get back, and a doctor who refuses to admit he screwed up. He may have glowing testimonials, but one mistake is one too many, including a lawsuit in 2013, a former patient, Mr. Hurst won, settling out of court. I filed a malpractice complaint with the Medical Board, and they basically threw it in the trash can, they protect the physican, not the patient. Based on my loss, and whatever loss Mr. Hurst suffered, and Dr. Spayde's denial. Don't go to him for treatment, he could make a third mistake, a devastating and irrepairable mistake.

So far my experience with this office has been above my expectations. I was even apprehensive after…read morethe first appointment here because I have been really fed up with all MDs in general. We all know regular western doctors are totally useless but even my previous functional doctor who was well respected ran me up a 10k bill with barely any results! So I came in already with a negative attitude, just assuming I'm too far gone at this point. To my surprise, In the two months I have had meetings here I have made more progress with than the entire last year and they are way cheaper than the previous functional doctor!! So please learn from my mistakes and always go with pay per visit doctors NOT pay in advance programs or the "shill my own brand of supplements" types. I can only say good things about everyone who works here like the ND Tali and the admin staff who are very competent and kind. I'm still kind of blown away by how smart yet humble Dr Rob is. I would have to disagree with the bad review here because you need at least 3 sessions for him to dig into the case so you can accurately pass judgement, even if it's going in a different direction than you anticipated he will drop serious knowledge. So my only complaint is I should have come here sooner!
