Got my haircut with Brandun. He was very nice and polite. Also very honest, which I like (a lot!!). I had a bad chop (done by me while drunk after my mom's passing). I been here looooong time ago, under a different owner. It still has that awesome barbershop feeling. He cut around 3-4 inches off, giving me a nice even length. Before going, I straighten my hair cause is naturally wavy and the ends curl. Hi there, walked in today for a haircut and saw Tone. It is the first time I had been in the shop since my husband and I go to his friend's place in El Segundo. My husband is super super super picky so I didn't tell him I was getting a haircut and not with his friend. After I was done I told him I got a haircut and he was silent on the phone. Visiting from out of town, I called in the morning to see if they had any openings. They got me in half an hour later. Brandon met me at the door. He asked me what I wanted. He asked for clarification when needed, and throughout the cut he double checked to make sure. When the top was a bit longer than I liked, he adjusted it, no questions asked. The Guys here are friendly and outgoing. Very accommodating w/ their appointments and the shop is clean and well taken care of. Pricing is fair and reasonable. However, their barbers appear very lacking in experience and knowledge with their barbering skills. Tried two different barbers here and they only appear to know how to give "buzz" cuts to all their clients. Short and tight on the sides and back, trim off the top. The straight razor at the hairline and a hot towel is a bonus/plus for this shop. If you're into that haircut style, the Syndicate should work well for you. But its too hipster for me. read more

When I lived in the San Gabriel Valley I would get my haircut by an old timer named Duke. Duke was my go to guy. Duke could do things with a straight razor that would make Sweeney Todd jealous. About a year ago, after already living in the LBC for over a year, I finally found a group of gentlemen as skilled with the blade as Duke. The guys at Syndicate are all tattooed rock and rollers that are well groomed and super cool. I have got my haircut, my beard trimmed and even had a few straight razor shaves by these kick ass barbers on numerous occasions and each time I leave their shop looking GQ. In fact, the day of my wedding, about 4 hours before tying the knot I paid a visit to Syndicate to make sure I was looking my best for my future wife. A cut here will set you back $20 bucks (cash only) but trust me when I say it's worth every penny (A straight razor shave I believe is $20 as well). The barbers here are artists. They never rush their work. The attention to detail these guys put into each cut is incredible. In all honesty, the first time I came here I had to wait over an hour and a half for a cut because they were taking so long with each customer. I'm so thankful I stayed because when I was finally seated, the barber, Miles, took the same length of time with me and put as much effort into my cut as he did with his previous customer. Each cut is followed up with hot foam, a quick run with a straight razor and a splash of aftershave. Besides the insanely entertaining stories you'll hear while waiting (I guarantee you'll hear a minimum of two) you will also get to hear some amazing music. Whether it be classic rock, punk, indie, blues or Motown you are sure to hear some kick ass tunes while you're waiting. While I can't give Syndicate a below average rating simply because a good 90 percent of my past cuts there have been stellar, I have to lower my rating simply because their lack of proper clientele management in the past have forced me to go elsewhere for my cuts. I understand that Syndicate prides itself as being a bare bones barber shop where no one takes your name as you walk in, but in the past I have witnessed people come in for a cut be served before myself and others who had been patiently waiting for extensive periods of time. There has also been some confusion as to if they do or don't take appointments. I have been told in the past they didn't and "never have" and as seen in past reviews, it appears they now do take appointments. TR B. 's review is right on the money...the shop is operated on "chaos theory". There's no real hard rules followed. So while I must say that the work carried out here at Syndicate is above average, the customer experience is not. read more

What an awesome barbershop! This was my very first time going to a barbershop like this. I had a smile on my face from the moment I walked in to the time I left. I mean, geez, just look at the decor for crying out loud. It's old school but edgy at the same time. Gotta love those fusions. I'd highly recommend calling and making an appointment. This place gets booked up the wazoo on the weekend, so call days in advance to secure your spot. And if you want a shave, make sure you request one when you initially make your appointment because this place really gets booked and they can't just add a shave to your appointment last minute unless they finish your cut shorter than expected. Now let me say, these guys REALLY KNOW HOW TO CUT HAIR! Especially Chris (one of the owners). He opened the shop super early for me and so no one was there except himself and me. Don't be afraid of his tatted up skin. He's a very approachable and kind hearted dude. I got to know about his family in addition to talking about some random ass stuff. Very chill and entertaining. I told him I was going for the Ryan Gosling / Justin Timberlake side part and he knew exactly what to do. He even used a razor on some parts of my head and gave me what I think was aftershave and a warm towel to dry my head off. Felt awesome because I never used that before. He was very precise in cutting my hair, making sure every single part of my head looked right. It's trippy because you face backwards the entire time, and I'm used to looking at myself in the mirror during my cuts. Then all of a sudden you're done, he hands you a mirror, and boom! Magic! And a very close shave too. Also got a haircut which was expertly done. For those who are squeamish about tattoo culture (I count myself in that group) be aware that both Pedro and Anthony are highly illustrated men. But put your preconceived notions aside and go for it. So I've been wanting to try this place for a few years. My buddy has been telling me to try his barber, Chester, for a long while now. When I called to make an appointment with him, I was told he was all booked up for the day. When he talks about his craft and where he works, He not only exudes passion about what he does but where he does it as well. It's great getting a haircut from a barber who can hold a conversation and he does so very easily. Most importantly, he gives a great haircut! I don't know why, but it's super hard for me to articulate what it is I exactly want in a haircut, so I rely on my barber to be able to decipher what I'm trying to say and also to do what they think is best, Adam was definitely able to that.
