Their subs are not reliable & with lousy workmanship. The Garret Syler with Syler Construction doesn't really care about their reputation as long as turn over their homes and cash out. I would not recommend them to anyone. I have a new build in 2023 in KC North over $1M had so many problems, especially with concrete foundations. They do their site work then pour concrete and wait for years to restart their project. The ground can settle during that period and cracks can develop. Consequently water leakage happened from their foundation walls and base. It's been a nightmare & horrible. They don't care after one year. They've used so many lousy subs. The company does not supervise much at all over their subs. They have so many homes spread out KC North but not supervising much. The house look OK exterior wise then lousy workmanship inside like Plumbing, Foundation, the sheetrock walls, Uneven Basement Floors, some I can mention here. The Sheet rock Walls Over Mantle above the Fire Place were not even straight up and not lining correctly with ceiling. I understand there's no perfect house. However this company is beyond my description. I had many sleepless nights in this house worrying what else could go wrong. I absolutely do not recommend to any buyers. read more

Four months ago, we contracted with Syler on a home already under construction. To our delight, we were able to customize many of the details. This was a challenge considering we lived 830 miles away. Syler worked with us constantly to assist in making decisions about details, keeping up with paperwork, monitoring expenses, and posting updates of progress. Thanks to the dedication and professionalism of the entire Syler Team, we are now in our perfect home. The attention to detail and the craftsmanship of a Syler home is exceptional. The Syler group as a whole is professional, knowledgeable, patient, understanding, and absolutely the best at responding promptly to our numerous questions, requests for changes, progress, and giving us reassurance that all was going well. Completed a build with Syler last fall. The entire process was a huge headache. There were so many issues during construction that they ran 8 months over schedule. Their initial estimate was 6-8 months, so they doubled their time line. They had delay after delay because of all the mistakes. They were poured the incorrect foundation for our house, they left out doors/windows, walls were in the wrong place. It took twice the estimate because they effectively built the house twice by the time they fixed all the mistakes. We finally got the house and we really want to enjoy it, but we are still facing a never ending list of issues. Even with all the issues during construction, the only thing that I care about at this point is that they simply refuse to fix anything. Their warranty is completely worthless. We have been living in the house for 6 months and are still waiting for items to be fixed from before closing. HVAC, gutters, flooring, trim, and the list goes on. Even the few items they have attempted to fix are still messed up. They just give the run around on everything, but never do any actual work. A house is too big of an investment to use the wrong builder. You want someone that takes pride in their work and stands behind it. This company doesn't do either. read more

Everything you'd expect from a home builder with an attitude of "you should just be happy we are building a home for you". Yup, that's the kind of customer service you will receive from Syler. As if you aren't PAYING them. From the start we were told to "just trust the process". Their process includes having the client go through the house daily to find mistakes of incorrect layouts and unsatisfactory subcontractors and even corrective action on unacceptable quality of work. Yes, YOU have to find all mistakes because "you know the plans better than they do", although you are paying them a premium to manage the build process and do it correctly. Definitely not a "custom homebuilder", they only had 1 supplier for each scope of work so if you didn't like those options you had to pay for it out of pocket directly and manage those subs to meet Sylers schedule. Throughout the punch list they worked on one item at a time and every time they came to fix something they would damage something else so the process NEVER ends. They still are not done with items agreed on BEFORE closing...which was almost 2 years ago. I could go on and on with reasons to not use them. I wish we would have done more research on these guys...talking with neighbors before you choose a builder will go a long way and hopefully save you frustrations, time, and money. read more
