He was last minute and very poorly planning his event, however he looked like an honest person so I honored his request and lent him a Truck load of props. Have reached out 10+ times across social media and directly with no response. He is ghosting us. Lesson learned, never pay in full until services are rented. In January of this year, I put out a request for videography services in this group for my wedding. I was referred to Ruben through a wedding group on facebook. After talking to multiple vendors, I ended up signing a contract with Ruben Contreras of Sybex Studios. Like many other recently wedded couples, Ruben is now ghosting me. I have no hopes of ever receiving my wedding video. PLEASE do your due diligence when booking vendors. Hired Ruben during the month of June 2020. I made the mistake of paying him upfront because he made an excuse saying someone else helping needed to get paid. We worked on the video for months only to receive pictures that an amateur took. Not to mention he brought two other "helpers" that didn't know what they were doing. The guy kept assuring me that he would have my video ready for me but I never received it. He went as far as to delete his msg he sent through Instagram where he mentions the date it would be finished and delivered. I kept asking him and he ghosted me. I ended up getting blocked when I told him I would expose him for his scamming. I ended up contacting his partner and he was making it seem like I was in the wrong for saying that and that he's never seen him get this upset lol. This guy Ruben From Sybex Studio is a fraud. First of all I don't care how low of a price he gives you, he is a fraud. What I original requested was a full feature video (30-40min) and raw footage for $1,000 for 5 hours.. I then agreed to a highlight video for an extra ($250). Just to make sure I had enough footage I contracted for him for an extra hour $180. I waited 9 months no response. What I got was an 18min video that was low quality and he didn't even use the songs that I requested, which made it awkward. He actually used a breakup song. My skin looked grey and he kept playing the same parts over an over again in the same video. Then he charged me $45 for an extra disc copy of my video. Tried to charge me to put it on YouTube. And charged me extra for the raw footage in the end, which I had to send the external hard drive for him to do it. Today is officially one day before my one year anniversary and I have yet to receive my highlight video. He then responds to me that instead of creating a highlight video it is going to be a cut out of the original, low quality, video he has already given me. What's the point. Don't let his website fool you. That's what got me. He then does not respond after trying to get ahold of him via telephone, email, or text. Not professional at all. I'm writing this video so other brides do not go through what I'm going through right now. Thank God my photographer (not Ruben fromSybex) was able to give me something to remember my wedding by, because this is a FAIL. You definitely get what you pay for by trying to be frugal well in this case you actually don't get what you pay for, you just get some bull sh*t excuse that he is out of town, or that he already sent it and he thought you received the product. And if you do get fooled by him, please make sure you include in the contact how long each video will be, how it will be rendered and a timeline on when you will recieve your finalized product. Experience is the key word. My experience was lackluster to say the least. My wedding was at the end of September, it is now the beginning of March and he has delivered on 60% of what was promised. And of that 60%, only a portion of that is complete. Let me explain, he provided prints at the end of January but unedited as requested and promised. We have yet to receive the video footage of the wedding. For 3k, you would think you are receiving, "The Experience." P.S. What good is a photographer/videographer if you never get to relive your day. Thanks Ruben. *Edit - March 7, 2020* It took hiring an attorney and having him write a letter explaining that we would be taking legal action against Ruben & Sybex Studio for him to actually deliver our product. The video however, is not well done by any means. The man who took the video clearly was an amateur. During our first dance, he is so zoomed in on our faces that when we dance out of the frame, he just videos the wall. We choreographed an entire routine and you can't even tell what we're doing. Also, the edited version of the video looks like Ruben spent about 10 whole minutes throwing something together and called it good. We didn't think much of it at the time but looking back I wish I had gotten his personal contact information as it would be one more person to contact about getting our video. It has now been 5 months since our wedding and we don't have our video. Ruben is EXTREMELY difficult to get ahold of and never actually gives you any information or time frame when you do get him to text you back. (He will never answer a phone call). After several attempts to contact Ruben, he finally told my husband on January 25, 2020 that our video was completed and had been mailed. It is now 2 weeks past that date and we still have not received either the edited version of our video or the raw footage, that we paid extra for. We have since made several MORE attempts to contact Ruben as to the whereabouts of the video by way of text, phone calls, emails and certified mail. All attempts have gone unanswered and he has now actually gone so far as to BLOCK my phone number. It is clear he never sent the video and has no intention of doing so. Ruben (owner of this business) is extremely unprofessional and unreliable. He was hired by my parents for my wedding in 2017. He was also prepaid at that time for edited versions of the wedding video and photo albums. After the event, despite many attempts by my dad, he never delivered the promised edited video and photo books. In fact, he started screening my dad's calls and emails and lied to my dad saying that he has already mailed the items! When pressed for receipt of mail, he obviously didn't have it. Hired them through Thumbtack for our wedding on May 8th as they were the best price and had everything we wanted. Ruben has great communication and made sure all the guests kept a photo and put a photo in the guest book and had them sign it. He made a photo template for all the photos and provided the gueat book. The only suggestion I would make is to provide a guestbook that matches the event. We received a green/pinkish guestbook that I will be purchasing a wedding looking guestbook and tranferring everything over. Other than that great service and great price. I don't often write reviews unless its something truly amazing and the business goes to infinity and beyond in their services. It goes without saying that Sybex Studio did just that. I hired Sybex for photobooth and photography during the reception portion of my wedding which was in the evening hours of 09/27. However, Ruben and his partner came and took photos of my morning ceremony as well. Its the little details that Sybex does that makes a world of difference between them and the other companies out there. People had a blast with the photobooth. If i had a whats trending now of my wedding- the photobooth would be in second place, the first was the fight that occurred but thats another story. Overall, I am super thankful for the professionalism that Sybex carried throughout the whole day and just want to congratulate them on a job well done. My advice: Hire Sybex, you won't regret it. First impression was great, including the reviews. I was super exited I had found a videographer that showed amazing videos on his profile. I hired Ruben for my wedding video back in January and was told it would take a few weeks to receive my video (which was totally fine) When I received the video, I was so excited to see it.. but what a disappointment! I had multiple ceiling and floor shots.. not to mention the videographers talking in some of the ceremony part. I understand some shots are inevitable to have, but thought that was the purpose of editing? I contacted Ruben and he was very kind to respond. However, I asked him if it was possible to fix it, or to at least put the video in order (as the order of events were off in the video) I got a few responses, but nothing fixed.
