Mind you, the store's hours said they were open well after that, so we had no reason to expect them to not be open to unexpected customers. We took a couple steps in and found that they had a game of D&D going in the middle of the store. This is nothing weird for game stores, but as we started looking around, not a single person acknowledged us beyond the random dirty look as though we were interfering by trying to shop IN A STORE. It was one of the most insane and awful customer experiences I've ever been involved in, and I would never recommend this place to anyone. If you're going to have a set day where you play in the store, just close the store at that time. It's not that complicated.

The cards are very well displayed and look to be one of the biggest draws of the store. Now for the downside at least for me as a game collector I cannot walk up and touch a case and read a spine from the area they allow you to look from. I'm 56 yo full disclosure, I cannot read the damn title spines even with glasses, you know what else I have at 56 other than my eyesight? Actual money to spend at your store. So, fix this, I just walk out after 5 min of eyestrain and will check eBay instead. I was taking a break from seeing my boyfriend's band in Kono Hawaiian Grill around the corner and decided I would sit down for a cup of coffee. Can you believe I got kicked out of there after I ordered a cup of coffee and wanted to sit down at one of their EMPTY"game "tables. There were at least three big "game "tables with at least four chairs around each one... And I bought a cup of coffee, left the generous tip and proceeded to sit down at one of the tables in this almost totally empty establishment. The manager or whoever he is proceeded to come over and RUDELY tell me I'm sorry these tables are for people who want to rent them to play games. Really? In this empty place? I just bought a cup of coffee and tip to generously and you're kicking me out because I didn't bring in a group of people to play board games on one of your many empty tables. You've got to be kidding me., Santa Cruz. The party of peace, love and light... And you can't even let me sit there for 15 minutes to have a cup of coffee. HAVE A BLESSED DAY.. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

The space is spotless, well-organized, and the staff make you feel instantly welcome. They've also got snacks and drinks on hand, so there's zero reason to leave once you've settled in. Needless to mention, unlike almost any other board game cafe in the Bay Area, they don't charge you just to sit and play. On top of that, they have a huge collection of comic books, board games, and comics-related items and artifacts available to purchase, so it's easy to walk out with more than you came in for. I love this place so much that it's always hard for me to leave. They close at 7 PM on weekends, and every single week, I find myself wishing I had just a little more time before heading out. If you want a calm, genuinely fun way to spend an afternoon, this is the spot in the entire Bay Area.

As soon as I walked in, I was immediately greeted. They asked if I was looking for anything and was shown to the card sleeve section. I've been to multiple stores that specialize in cards. Why was this the ONLY place where I found a large assortment of card sleeves for players!! Lol I met Anna(?) or Ann, and customer service was amazing, gave all information I was asking for, and showed me the weekly schedule. I am more of a mega competitive player (but not a sore winner ;-)), so I wanted to know what their schedule looked like, what is their most supported game, etc. I believe this is a more chill, casual, friendlies kind of vibe (not a bad thing at all), and I'd be open to doing more drafts or pre-release kits or something.
