My husband and wanted to support a local gaming community, but an interaction with the manager, Scott, made it impossible. My husband attempted to discuss in-store play options with Scott, but the conversation quickly devolved into verbal harassment. Scott became openly aggressive, using profanity to disparage my husband's suggestions and his character. Scott then proceeded to evade responsibility for his actions by banning him from the store. Stopped by the shop while on vacation and had a great experience. The store has lots of space and was well organized for play and shopping. I came in looking for a specific back catalog card (fetchland) which they had in stock at decent price. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. There is absolutely no valid reason to fail to support your local tabletop game shop. They've got everything you need and the staff is knowledgeable. I know I might be able to get a little deal on amazon, but there are a lot of folks that depend on this place for getting together with friends and family so it's worth it to patronize this shop. 4 stars only because I'm so principled that I came back four times to remind the counter staff that I wanted them to order a game before they actually ordered it. They are no longer open at reasonable hours. Can't play d&d there. Can't buy during lunchtime. I can't even pick up paints during Farmers market on Tuesday. Why they aren't open during Tuesday's extremely large flow of traffic is a prime example of how they don't want to keep a successful business. Sorry guys. TL;DR: All in all a good local card shop for MTG players, well above average and they seem committed to keeping the local scene light and fun, but also affordable. I recommend it! Long Version: Went here for a prerelease event for the latest Magic set last weekend, chose the midnight event because of work. Never really been here before, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I figured what the heck, prerelease tournaments are just about having fun and everyone tends to be pretty chill. First thing to say, their price was great. At my last store, they charged 50% more for the same event. The prize pool wasn't amazing, but if you're only paying 20 bucks and already keeping at least 6 packs, what is there to complain about? Second, the store. It's a standard card shop. Nice and spacious on the inside, could use better ventilation but overall not a bad place to spend a few hours playing nerd games. No complaints. The people at the event were great. I think the judges were a little disorganized, but once games started up there were no issues and all the players were super great and just having fun. No uber-competitive neckbeards or creepers ruining everyone's good time. A fair mix of men and women, which is always nice to see at these things. If I had any complaints about the shop as a whole, it's that their selection of singles is pretty low. I didn't ask too much about pricing, but from what I did see they seemed pretty fair, not amazing, but fair. That's all about MTG of course, if you are looking for any other card game you are basically SOL. read more

The customer service was terrible. They seem like they are too busy with their cards to help. I wanted to get some deck boxes for my YuGiOh decks. One guy got up from the table and asked what cards do i play. So i told him Yugioh, and I instantly got a disgusted look on his face.(Just a hint yugioh and magic players dont mix). So anyway i heard from the table "its your turn" so he left and another guy came up. Acted like i was bothering him. I asked if i can get a deck box. He replied in a rude tone,"Which kind of box? A Pro Deck Box, or a Regular deck box?" I said, "Just the one that says 'Deck Box' on it. He said, "Well you gotta be specific" Very rude! Smells bad I wont be back, Sorry. read more

How does this place have only one review? I felt really sad when The Game Habitat died years ago before I moved out of Monterey. Wandering around Monterey on a recent visit, I was surprised and pleased to see that Mythic Games had filled this void. I purchased Eldritch Horror here. 10% off all board games on Thursdays. Only thing I wish is that there was a slightly larger selection of new games to browse and impulse purchase, but I understand that that could be unfeasible with a small customer base in Monterey. read more

Huge shout out to the staff here. They are all awesome and always willing to give extra time and attention to customers. They don't have the biggest selection but they are always happy to order things for you. They've been helpful with board games and warhammer. They'll even help you learn the games. read more

Love these guys. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Extremely patient and helpful. Always feel welcome when I come in and usually have a pretty good convo with whoever is working. Glad to have an lgs nearby and even happier it's run by people who love what they do. read more

Bought some magic the gathering bulk from their boxes at 15 cents a card, awesome. Went back and spent 3 hours doing the same thing and then when I went up to the counter, they decided to look up every card and charge me full price after I already confirmed each card in their boxes was 15 cents. They blamed their employees for not evaluating cards properly, but that's not my fault, I didn't hire their incompetent employees. I had already purchased some of the same cards yesterday at bulk price and today they wanted to charge me a significantly higher price. With a stack nearing 100 MTG cards, they decided to let me purchase 3 cards at 15 cents. 3 hours and 49 cents later I left with 3 cards. You guys need to be consistent with your prices and not straight out lie to customers. You guys seemed like a decent shop until you pulled this BS. If you feel compelled to rectify the situation and allow me to purchase the cards I searched for at the agreed price of 15 cents a piece, contact me and show the MTG community you're an honest shop. Until then, I will boycott this "business" and make sure everyone I know spends their money elsewhere. It's a shame considering this is the only place in PG supporting MTG. read more
