This shop in the very nice shopping center of Del Monte has a ton of product, but like most comic book stores, the business is moving away from that business and focusing more on collectible toys. It's a shame because there are so few good stores in this area. I went to all of them today and didn't find one that was a strong comic book store. If you like certain collectibles, you'll find a lot here, but if you're looking for comic books (which this store is listed) then you might be disappointed. SELECTION: Definitely packed full of product but I find that these types of stores in the end don't do well because product that doesn't sell sits on the shelves so long they gather dust. Not focused enough. And the comic wall isn't well stocked. SERVICE: Helpful in explaining why there isn't a lot in stock but too bad because this place has lots of potential. In a waning market this is the most well positioned store to do well. If they only did an ordering service, it would likely solve some of their problems. COST: Reasonable but not exceptional. Instead of going the collectibles route (I would definitely have collectibles but not the fad kind), I would go the comic book / gaming / sports card route. Card collectibles are of high value and take up so very little space. Funkos are great, but to give them shelf space they aren't worth it. read more

I came in to look for some Poison Ivy comics...and left with a horrible headache and feeling sick. The reason being the OVERPOWERING SMELL of mold or mildew that was in the store. Owner definitely has an issue that needs to be resolved immediately. As for the contents of the store, it sadly left a lot to be desired. Comics were not sorted alphabetically on the shelves, older guy sitting behind the counter made it clear he did not want to be bothered, and some of the merchandise was WAY TOO expensive. I understand he has a shop in the Del Monte Shopping Center so renting the space can be pricey, but $30 for a "normal" Funko Pop that isn't a Chase, or special edition, is just plain ridiculous. Hot Topic on the other side of the shopping center had the exact same Funko Pop for $11.90 My partner found a cool Batman graphic novel, but by that point I felt like I was gonna be sick due to the mold smell, so I had to leave. I hope the owner can get their priorities straight, and take care of the store before someone does get sick. read more

Hidden gem! John the owner is a historical figure in the comic industry. He did the coloring for the cover of issue 1 infinity gauntlet. Getting to meet him is worth the trip alone. He's been in the comic shop business since the early 80s. The selection is great. Graphic novels and comics up to the ceiling. This is a nice store there is a lot of stuff in here ranging from books comics toys gear and everything. There are figurines there a funk or pops there a hot wheels games comics galore. With that since this place seems to be sponsored it also is a price mark up as well. Which is expected and the location that it is in. Good selection of toys but not mind coming here to find something that I really need as well or I'm looking for and cannot find somewhere else. The window says military discount on selected items. comics and games. That's the reason I came in the have a military discount. Also the cashier that checked out our items I could barely hear what he was saying and he seemed like he didn't want to be there today either. read more

Pretty nice store with a lot of variety of toys/action figures and collectibles/comics. I usually come in to look around and kill time while the wife is shopping at her stores. Only thing is i will not buy anything because everything is over priced!, some stuff i can understand the prices like certain transformers he has that are not made anymore and are priced high but other stuff can be found online for retail or at your local target/walmart, like his gunpla section, his kits are priced too high when you can find the same kits online for way better prices, thats how a lot of these collectible stores are tho and they usually dont last in business very long, i know you should support local business's but not when they mark up their merchandise with absurd prices....... read more

Oh man I love this place. Reminds me of the comic book store on Cannery row way back in the day. All kinds of figures, huge selection of comics, books etc. Typical cover pricing, lots of new issues lots of variety. They real good about having all of the different figures in each line, not just one or two. Great way to kill like 3 hours. read more

Service is ok, the prices are not, when I was in the back of the store near the comics there was a box of Hot Wheels they where wide open so I look through I find one I been looking for, so I take the box and go to the front and ask what's the price the dude says "Oh crap!" Runs past me and grabs the box and some other Hot Wheels box's takes them to the front and says which ones did you want, I told him and he said I haven't priced them because they're more desirable (which I understand) then he tells me there going for $25 to $30, he said for me he'd do $20, I asked where he was getting prices from he said "eBay," I asked were the ones he was looking at sold or the prices people where trying to sell them for. He said "The prices people were trying to sell them for." I tried to tell him that the market would be the sold ones but he didn't care, I didn't buy anything, I personally just go online for stuff everything is mostly over priced at this place. 0/10 wouldn't really recommend. read more

Not a bad shop...has a little for everyone. Manga section is super small. The marvel legends need to get price adjustments. They are charging more than retail when everyone else has them on clearance, I'm talking about older ones that don't sell of course. I'm assuming it would be the same for other figures so continous price checks would help me go back. Maybe carry some manga and marvel omnibus too. read more

The place is pretty neat and has cool merchandise on display to offer, though the man in front counter, whom I assume is the owner, is not helpful at all. He talks so low and quiet you can't hear or understand him and after asking some questions followed by asking him to repeat himself or speak up, I just gave up and left it alone. I also asked him a question over the phone and he gave me a whole rant instead of just answering the question. I had to ask three times for him to finally give a straight answer :/ So, the owner's an odd fellow but the store itself is pretty cool. read more

I collect die cast cars and this place has the best selection of Hotwheels. From this place you can actually complete your set unlike with the other large retail places who seem to randomly order their cars. Best of all you can strike up a nice conversation with the guy running the place. Best place to buy collectibles. read more

If I could leave a lower review I would. This older employee guy was so rude to me and for nothing. I had money to spend in this store, fifty dollars, I was gonna buy a book and I had sat down to read the first chapter and see if this was the book I wanted. He tells me I'm not allowed to be reading books in the store, I asked, "how am I supposed to know I want this book if I don't know what it's about?" And he says, "good point." He walks off and leaves me alone. Ten minutes later he's back and tells me I was rude to him and I have to leave. I asked how I was rude to him and he says "you have to leave or I'll call the police." I told him I wasn't leaving and he reaches down and snatches the book out of my hands. On my way out some other costumer says he will buy the book for me, and the older guy says "no, he has to leave." This was incredibly disrespectful. I had money to spend on this book and he drove away business- and rudely. I said nothing wrong, I was very polite, and that's no way to treat a costumer. A kid no less, he just pushed me around. I told my mom about it and she came down to talk to the man. He wouldn't look either of us in the eye and pushed past us when we tried to talk to him. My mom asked for the managers number and he said he couldn't give that to us, and he walked away. My mom eventually reached over the counter and grabbed the card with the managers name (a card costumers are allowed to have, that's why they're there). We got this picture of the guy. He may work other days but we know he works at least every Friday. read more

So happy Del Monte has this store! They just opened Nov 1, 2017! They have a lot of Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel, DC, Simpson's, and Harry Potter items. You can get graphic novels/comic books here, board games, mugs, magnets, clothes/accessories, and great gifts for yourself and loved ones. The owner is super friendly and the shop is put together nicely. This spot has all stuff nerd/pop culture and it's awesome! Definitely going to be a regular here. read more

I'm so happy we found this store while visiting Monterey! My daughter is obsessed with Harry Potter. There was so much to choose from. We bought an excellent quality Gryffindor baseball cap and a few Pop figures. The store is very clean and organized. Wish we had this store in San Diego. read more
