This is a small comic store my sleeping with complete selections and also newer items. The services are a great even though they didn't have a lot of previous comments that I was looking for up for about 2 to 5 years ago.

Vintage comics. They also have some file cabinets full of organized older comics. It is very well done.

I went in to this Santa Cruz comic book store. There wasn't a comic book, out of place. There were also some old-time games and comic books. Some of the games, were: scrabble, Farkle, Zenga and they had figurines and the legendary 8 ball. They have some cool dice of many shapes and sizes. These were with the Dungeon Dragon game. The gentleman working, seemed a little distracted, because there were about 8 people in the store. This is a small store, but it's full of comics and more. I had to park across the street, because there isn't any store parking. There are some meter parking in front of the store.

    Autobots, good! Decepticons, bad!

Went to downtown Santa Cruz for a walk and some ice cream, and my boy asks if there's a comic book store around. So I whip out the ol' phone and find Comicopolis on Front Street, just a block away from the main drag on Pacific Ave. They're keeping safe and clean, requiring a mask and providing hand sanitizer at the door-- important especially if you'll be thumbing through the shelves. I asked the guy (assuming manager/owner) if he had any Transformers stuff. Besides the couple books they he had out, he said, let me check in the back... He brought out a few cool ones, and my boy's eyes lit up. Super helpful, almost too helpful! Picked those up for my boy plus an old issue from '84 for myself (I couldn't resist!). My boy couldn't wait to get home so we could read together. As a parent, those are very satisfying words to hear. The next time we roll down to Santa Cruz, we're definitely going to swing by again.

I'm a sucker for nerds, so naturally, I wanted to marry every boy in this store. I ventured in while I was wandering around the Pacific Ave area to grab a quick present for a brave young man getting inked at a nearby tattoo parlor - lo and behold, they had the *exact* comic I was looking for (very obscure). The guy at the counter was helpful and friendly and the selection looked pretty good as far as I could tell. From classics (Marvel, etc.) to manga to foreign comics to unconventional comic/zine type issues, I felt like Comicopolis had a lot of bases covered. And while I realize that I'm not the best person to be reviewing a comic spot (I'm not exactly an expert), I feel like Comicopolis deserves some props. Kapow!

I've been coming to Atlantis since I was in middle school, I'm well into my early 40's now and hope this place never closes, the owner Joe is always at the shop and always willing to help or order something he doesn't have in the shop. I'm so glad we just happened to park in the large parking lot next to this store. It was a delight. The store is much larger than it appears from the outside. Mainly because there's a whole second half you might not realize is there until you come in. The selection here is wonderful and the lay out newer issues in a very easy to browse way. The back issues are in your traditional long box that you need to flip through, but they're all labeled in a way that makes it easy to narrow down your search. While they did not have the specific issue I was looking for, they happily went online and found an online retailer that had it for a reasonable price. That's great customer service that no other store has ever shown me (including my own local comic book shop where I've been a regular for 10+ years). Even when I told them they didn't have to do that they insisted and had a site for me within a minute or two. I really appreciated that. The two workers were so friendly and helpful. When I mentioned I was from Los Angeles they asked where my local store was & immediately knew it and had nice things to say about the owner. You could tell they really loved what they did and the comic book community as a whole. While I don't know how often I will be in the area, if I am ever even remotely close I will absolutely come by again. This is one of the best shopping experiences I've has at a CBS outside of my area.

They'll help me out but they aren't too happy about it. That's how it feels anyway. I wish there was a self-price scanner and a way to find books more easily, so it takes out the need for customer service. All in all, the Santa Cruz Bookstore is a place you can easily spend an hour or longer to kill time or to meander after dinner. It's really fun, and is a perfect place for the loner types who don't like people talking to them... because usually staff won't approach you here on their own. (See? This can be a positive!)

It's a shame because there are so few good stores in this area. I went to all of them today and didn't find one that was a strong comic book store. If you like certain collectibles, you'll find a lot here, but if you're looking for comic books (which this store is listed) then you might be disappointed. SELECTION: Definitely packed full of product but I find that these types of stores in the end don't do well because product that doesn't sell sits on the shelves so long they gather dust. Not focused enough. And the comic wall isn't well stocked. SERVICE: Helpful in explaining why there isn't a lot in stock but too bad because this place has lots of potential. In a waning market this is the most well positioned store to do well. If they only did an ordering service, it would likely solve some of their problems. COST: Reasonable but not exceptional. Instead of going the collectibles route (I would definitely have collectibles but not the fad kind), I would go the comic book / gaming / sports card route. Card collectibles are of high value and take up so very little space. Funkos are great, but to give them shelf space they aren't worth it.

Comics were not sorted alphabetically on the shelves, older guy sitting behind the counter made it clear he did not want to be bothered, and some of the merchandise was WAY TOO expensive. I understand he has a shop in the Del Monte Shopping Center so renting the space can be pricey, but $30 for a "normal" Funko Pop that isn't a Chase, or special edition, is just plain ridiculous. Hot Topic on the other side of the shopping center had the exact same Funko Pop for $11.90 My partner found a cool Batman graphic novel, but by that point I felt like I was gonna be sick due to the mold smell, so I had to leave. I hope the owner can get their priorities straight, and take care of the store before someone does get sick.
