Fast forward 5 months into our year long contract and access to the gym has been revoked unless we pay an additional $100 per month. Hannah Mostellar, the General Manager, has refused to honor their commitment, is unwilling to compromise on my monthly rate, and will not terminate our lease early so that we can find an alternative space. Instead she referenced my contract stating that services may be removed at any time at Industrious' sole discretion. Don't be fooled by the "extra amenities" as they can be stripped from you without warning or compromise. The only services they are contractually required to provide are printer services and internet. It's a shame that an organization that was recently acquired by a massive, publicly traded organization (CBRE), is unwilling to do right by small business owners. Look elsewhere if you are a small business owner who values commitment and compromise from your business partners.

The 42West event space is hidden. It occupies more than half of the building in the back. We mostly spent time in the indoor event space (5,800 square feet) and string-lit upper patio just outside (900 square feet). The event was an Indian sangeet and mehndi. It was a lot like an American wedding reception. There was a catered buffet dinner, performances, and dancing. Hundreds of guests attended. I thought 42West was well-suited for the amount of people, the numerous food stations, and bar (or two, I can't remember). Caterers and other vendors parked their trucks and vehicles in the small parking lot in front of the building. Guests parked across the street at 1075 Huff Road. I checked into the hotel at approx. 3:00 p.m. and was never informed of any issues at the hotel. I stepped out for dinner, returned to the hotel, and stopped at the bar to order dessert. It was only then that I learned from the bartender that the hotel was experiencing an outage affecting its gas and hot water, which also limited the kitchen's ability to prepare certain menu items. I decided to stop by the front desk to inquire. A gentleman seated nearby offered to assist me. When I asked about the outage, he immediately insisted that I had been informed when I checked in. I explained that I had not. Rather than acknowledging my concern or offering an appropriate response, he reiterated that someone should have told me and stated that repairs were underway. His demeanor was very dismissive, and I chose not to continue the conversation. I went to my room and called Marriott Bonvoy customer service. I wanted to properly document the situation and create a case for resolution. Fortunately, the hot water was restored the following morning. Today, I followed up with Marriott Bonvoy regarding my case and was informed that it had been closed days prior. The only explanation documented was that I had been advised of the outage when I checked in. No one bothered to contact me to follow up or discuss a resolution. Again, I was never informed of the outage at check-in. Once I got home, I decided to check Google to see if any other guests had similar concerns over the weekend. Two reviews stood out specifically. One guest reported arriving at approximately 3:30 p.m., experiencing issues with the hotel's systems, and returning approximately two hours later, at which time he was informed of the gas and hot water outage. Another guest reported being informed of the outage at check-in but subsequently spoke with a couple near the elevators who had not been notified. These are inconsistencies in how and when guests were informed. I understand that unexpected mechanical issues happen. My disappointment is not simply that the hotel experienced an outage. It is that I was not informed, my concerns were dismissed, and my subsequent complaint was closed without anyone contacting me to discuss the matter. The Whitley is a cute hotel, and I genuinely enjoyed other aspects of my stay. Unfortunately, the handling of this situation left me disappointed. I believe a refund for my first night's stay would have been an appropriate resolution, considering the outage, its impact on hot water and food service, and the lack of communication throughout the experience.
