It's been forever since I stepped foot in Swiss Park. Think the last time was the late 90s, back when party crews were all the rage. Although I remember the venue being bare bones inside with light beige- ish walls... it now is such a wonderful venue location. We celebrated our dear friend's 50th birthday bash & she made it an 80s prom theme. From what I hear, she invited 100 guests- and the table/ seating arrangement was perfect. No tables/ chairs were cramped. No tables & chairs taking up space in the dance floor and there was plenty of space for guests to roam around inside. In one far corner, was the photo back drop with balloon arch. At the entryway to the cash bar, was the appetizer table and the desert table. In the other corner was the food service table, where guests were served dinner. On the menu, (think Swiss Park offered the catering service)- mixed greens w/ cranberries & light feta cheese crumbles. Roast beef slices, roast vegetables, chicken, mashed potatoes, & bread rolls. The bartender did an amazing job. A bit bummed to have to hear her explain to guests that there were no lemons/ limes available. Don't know how this could even happen. The garden area had trees lined up with lights- which gave the night sky such a beautiful glow. Plenty of parking & clean restrooms. read more

It pains me to write this review because my wedding was the best day of my life. When my husband and I first decided that Swiss park was going to be our venue, we were very excited! Over time as I was in planning mode, my excitement led to much disappointment and frustration with the manager Larry Escobedo. When my husband first met Larry, he did not greet us/ say hi to us, he immediately asked us if we had the first payment ready. When I reached out to Larry about questions I had, he told me that he had other events before me and that he will talk to me about my wedding when it is closer. I understood and didn't want to bother him until I had about 3 months left until my wedding. When that time came, I had questions about my dinner/dessert options since I am deadly allergic to nuts, and he told me that if I'm the only person allergic to nuts, to still order their desserts and not eat it. I found this comment very inconsiderate since I'm highly allergic and I don't want to be on alert talking to people who possibly ate nuts. When it came to discussing dinner ingredients/options, Larry completely ghosted me and never answered my calls/ messages a month before my wedding. However when Larry decided he wanted to return my messages, he didn't apologize for his lack of communication but insisted that I had a final payment left over despite finishing payments with his brother, Tony. I do want to say that I do appreciate Tony for stepping in and helping me with all my wedding needs. One critique I have is that if Larry is the main contact for the Swiss Park and he decides that he doesn't want to talk to his clients for months, maybe add another point of contact to not have angry clients. During my wedding I was very disappointed with my DJ. We had meetings and messaged back and forth about the songs for each part of the wedding, but he still did not get the correct order right. My photographer's assistant ran back and forth to the DJ to tell him the exact songs for each section of the wedding. During my cocktail hour, the bartender was charging my guests when I specifically had a free cocktail hour in my contract. My sister and best friend had to tell him that we had a free cocktail hour and gave the people their money back. The lack of communication at Swiss park was incredibly disappointing. There was also this one lady serving the dinner to my mom, who had brown hair in a long pony tail, who was rude to my mom when she asked her to cut the food in half since she wanted to try it first. Overall, Tony was great at saving my wedding. The DJ was not the best and the staff at the venue needed better communication handed to them. Lastly, I hope that Swiss park knows that Larry will bring Swiss parks ratings down due to his lack of customer service and how he treats his staff/clients. read more

We had our daughter quince at swiss park. The staff were so helpful and attentive. Decorations were just the right touch. We loved everything. Family and friends cant wait for our next event here. Plenty of parking, beautiful indoors and outside. Bar was in a separate area which was perfect for those wanting to have shots together! Bartender is the best in San Diego! 2 guest lost their wallets and they found them for us. Our thanks to the chef, chicken and pasta was delicious. Appetizers and desert were excellent! Taste was like at a 5 star restaurant. I cant thank then enough for making my daughters party such a success! read more

Apparently he thinks that he owns the public street can shout at people, and threaten them. For parking perfectly legally. To begin with the employee that had been handling our wedding over the last year called in sick the day of our wedding nothing against her but in the least it would've been nice to have any type of communication or common curtesy since this is a business to let us know what's going on and have someone else for us to be in contact with it was like pulling teeth just to get access to venue and get ahold of someone so I could drop off equipment deserts for the wedding. No one would let me in to the venue and I waited outside the locked gate while employees saw me waiting and ignored letting me in to just to drop off equipment. The venue dj was having a conversation in the parking lot, I honked my horn because the gate was Iocked he looked over and then continued on with his conversation. We waited for about 25-30 minutes honking the horn until the lady that was setting up alone ran to her car and drove over to let us in. During the wedding Larry pulled me over to the side in the middle of our reception holding a plastic wrapper to a bottle saying they found multiple bottles of alcohol and that he would be keeping our deposit and charging an extra 600 for what he said at the time was 3 bottles found. But never showed me any bottles, he then charged my drunk groomsman $1200 dollars for the bottles the night of the wedding without ever bringing this up to me. Fast forward two weeks and they charged us also $200 for damages to the women's bathroom and broken glass in the parking lot, mind you there were two parties going on all sharing the same parking lot. I just got off the phone with Larry the owner after no response from his team for two weeks after our wedding. They lost our sand ceremony which we brought up the day of the wedding after it was over and he said that it wasn't his responsibility and one of my guests must have taken it. When I said what one of my guests would even take that your crew was Cleaning his response was "I don't know your fucking guests" Even though it was him and his crew cleaning the ceremony table and chairs where the sand ceremony was at. I will say I did get frustrated and upset because it's been over two weeks now with no response but l never verbally attacked Larry during our conversation like he did. Saying I must be hurting for money for bringing up a $200 deposit charge, talking down about how much income I make based on the amount spent on the venue. I believe the exact sentence was "for any normal person this wasn't an expensive wedding but for you I guess it was" The only good thing about this venue was the lady that decorated what seemed to be the entire wedding by herself with exception to the dance floor. She was amazing and she should be in charge. read more

¡Increible! Wow! ¡Perfecto! Larry, Erin, Vicki, Robert and their staff pulled out all the stops. From the planning to the event, it was an amazing process and a night our daughter will never forget. With hiccups that came up on our end, they helped us make quick decisions and changes as needed before and during the event. Communication was 150% and their vendors were top notch. Their DJ Juan Carlos helped us plan and coordinate the traditional program, music, and even set-up a blow-up Photo Booth. We added the big letters and led dance floor and that was such a big surprise for our daughter when she and her court walked in. Juan Carlos and his son kept everyone dancing and having fun. He even found Juan Lemus to stream the event and give us the video footage. Juan set up three cameras to capture the night for family and friends who couldn't be there with us. I haven't seen the footage yet but his last minute effort was much appreciated. We used the interior salón for the Quince and they allowed us to do our family photos in their park before the event. Parking is easy as they have their own parking lot. Food was yummy and they accommodated us adding a special dish from my Comadre. These people charged us for damages that they have absolutely no proof of. I've asked for proof of pictures with the date stamps, showing these damages were made on my event. There was 2 separate events going on the same day, but are pinning the damages on us. Larry cussed out my husband over the phone and belittled us and our income wage. I have never felt more disrespected in my life. Will be pursuing legal action. read more

My daughter had here wedding here last weekend. Our coordinator Ally was so helpful from the very beginning. We never felt pressured to add any unwanted upgrades. Their pricing is reasonable & fair. Ally was so attentive & helpful throughout the entire night, making sure we had everything we needed to ensure a perfect night. We got many compliments on our Italian dinner option. I had nothing but positive things to say about Larry and her daughter when they hosted my wedding back in 2017. I apologize for my late review - I got married at The Swiss Park November 03, 2018 and it was an absolute dream. I always had a dream for an outdoor garden wedding. Though it wasn't as whimsical as I had originally wanted, Larry helped me with my vision. He was so helpful, and so patient with me! I became a little bit of a bridezilla! We had everything outdoors and had NO backup plan in case it rained! We went with Larry's recommendation for photobooth & florist. I wish we had gone with his recommendation for DJ - because who we went with was a nightmare. When booking The Swiss Park, I was pretty set on a taco truck but Larry suggested we have a tasting and then decide. The tacos were absolutely everything I wanted, better than the taco truck we had picked out. It's been a year and people still rave over the tacos we had at our wedding. The drinks were really good as well! We ran out of Palomas before I could even get one, they were that good! Plenty of margaritas, and they had a drink with Jamaica & Vodka that my friends we're pretty obsessed with. I was very pleased with my experience and would recommend it. read more

The owner is very untrustworthy. Our party was having a wedding and having a great time. Then in the middle of the celebration the owner comes over and is demanding them pay a fine of $1200 for their guests because they were "drinking" in the parking lot. When asked to give us proof, he has NO PROOF it was our party. There was also an quinceanera going on next-door at the same venue. He also is holding part of the deposit from the groom and bride because of "damages" in the women's bathroom and broken glass in the parking lot. Again, no such proof has been given and he still has not given any proof almost 2 weeks after the event. read more

When searching for a venue for our wedding, I suddenly remembered something like a "Swiss Park" from my Middle School "8th grade graduation party". My husband and I asked around and one of our friends remembered the place! the San Diego County Swiss Club. It's quite a large place, able to accommodate weddings with 400 guests, so it was more than enough for our small wedding of about 80. Marlene and her fluffy white dog were very friendly, helping us plan out the least expensive option for renting the venue. For us, since we were asking for 6 hours and the use of the grounds and the dining hall, and we wanted outside catering, this ran to about $5k. She even waived the kitchen fee for us. On the other hand, there's Martha. While I'm sure she's a nice enough lady, she was kind of standoffish and made us feel sort of uneasy at times. She was the one to call us about financial "miscalculations" and that just made her feel like the "muscle" to a mob boss :( My family (during rehearsal and setup the day of) described her as sort of rushed and rude, and I can't help but sympathize with their feelings. She does seem like she's on top of things though and gets the job done (Whatever her job may be...I'm still not clear on what she does aside from "help" Marlene...) Another snag in the wedding set up was the bar. We had thought we could put down a few hundred dollars to cover the bar for our guests, but the minimum payment was $500! That's 100 drinks for 80 guests! 2/3rds of them of them being underaged or non-drinkers! I wish they could've worked something out for smaller crowds. It felt tacky to have a cash bar... Overall, I think this is a great place for weddings or events. It makes for great photo ops outdoors, and indoors as well once decorated. Plus, it's nice on your wallet. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and loved ones. Now, here's hoping we get our deposit back soon! read more

This park has club events AND it's open to the public to rent as a party hall. I really love the events here. I've been coming since I was a a baby. They're all Swiss cultural events that are open to the public, not just to members. There is Swiss Independence Day on August 1st, the Christmas party, and lots of fondue picnics. If you've never been to an event here, you should go to the Schwingfest. It's a Swiss-style wrestling competition that's held every June. There are games for kids and adults and really inexpensive bratwurst meals. There are even games where you can win wine or good Swiss cheeses. The beer and wine is really affordable too. Ask for "spaten" at the bar, it's a good imported beer that they sometimes have. My family also booked a party here last year. The new management is great! We decided to have the park cater instead of an outside company and I'm glad we did because the food was really great! I loved their red pepper soup, the pasta, and the Mexican food. read more

Let me start off by saying we have had a bad year with COVID. I had my event, quinceañera for my daughter, planned for May 2020 and of course we had to make a choice because of COVID to postpone or cancel my event, I made the choice to postpone since my daughter was so excited and devastated at the same time. In order to console her I told her that when it came time for her event 5/2021 that the whole world would be open again and everyone would be so tired of being indoors all this time that we would have the biggest blow out party along with all her family and friends. And of course I didn't know what was going to happen, I was just trying to make my child feel better! Fast forward a year from 2020, I learned we San Diego was slowly opening up. Larry, who is the main person at Swiss park, calls me and asked if we are going forward with the event. I said "yes" from that point forward Larry and his crew... (Aly) the women who helps throughout the actual event and ALL of the workers that Swiss park employs we're with us every step of the way making sure we had everything we needed. We had a couple of handicap guest and they made sure my guest we're taken care of. Aly was phenomenal! Her, Larry, and all the crew at SWISS PARK HALL are the true meaning of wonderful costumer service. I know a lot of people are scared of people coming out and celebrating or even scared that no one will come, let me tell you... all of my daughters friends showed up.. ALL and then more. Let me also mention the DJ Sergio was also amazing. If you want a party you need to get with Sergio Dj Latin jams. THANK YOU SWISS PARK for giving my daughter a memorable milestone event in her life. My family was looking for a place to host a reception after my brother's funeral service. We had a taquiza in mind already but needed a location. As with the review from Erica P., my sister and I remembered Swiss Park from our middle school graduation parties. We went over and met Dan, who informed us that they are under new management and are working hard to erase past reviews. Another event was setting up but he gave us a quick tour, showed us how they would decorate the room, and gave us a menu and price. It was cheaper to have them cater the event than it was to rent the room and use our own taquiza. When we arrived after the service, EVERYTHING was ready for us, including a large screen to project a photo slide show and sound system to play his favorite music. The tables and chairs were covered with a very nice white patterned linen, with a blue sash that wrapped around the chairs and were tied with a bow in the back of the chair. Even though we were nervous about the food (since we didn't have a chance to taste it), the food they prepared was very good. We had them prepare barbacoa, pollo asado, rice, beans and tortillas. Many family and friends told us how much they liked the food. The children had a safe area to play in. The outside is a large, well kept grass area with a small play area. Honestly, probably the best part of all was that they took care of everything! All the setup, all the food preparation and all the cleanup. Dan, the event planner (I don't remember her name), and all the staff were VERY courteous and helpful. Don't let the old reviews scare you off. This is a great place to hold an event and will use them again for an event that is too big for one of my family's homes. read more

The owners and all of the workers at Swiss park are very conscious of COVID and are allowing families to celebrate special events together in a safe manner. My sister was celebrating her quinceñera and was very scared that none of her friends were going to show up, but that was definitely not the case and it was a great turn out! I would 100% recommend having an event here! Everyone is super accommodating and are there to ensure you have the best time! Worried about parking? No need to worry, there's tons of it (which I know is a worrying thought when going to a special event). I would actually have given this hall more stars. We rented it in a Thursday for my dad's celebration of life. We had about 300 people. The hall was decorated nicely and until the day of the event we had great service from Ally. She brought it to our attention that a few of the men were bringing in beers from coolers they had in their cars. I went around and asked people not to bring drinks in but my brother and we even purchased another keg on for $850 for the inconvenience. The next day we found out we were fined and charged $600 because of the beers people had brought in. We spent over $8,000 on a Thursday and I could not believe we were being fined for that. I had 4 people call me during the week asking for the contact # to book future dates for parties they were having and when I told them about the fine they decided to reserve different venues. So charging us $600 costed them at least $40,000 so I'm ok with it. read more

Very disappointed. I had an appointment to reserve the hall and the day before the appointment they send me an email that they had rented the place out. No courtesy call just to see if I was willing to come in that day and pay so that we could book the place first. I even tried to put aside he fact that o. The day we went and ask about the price he said is very expensive"! I don't know if he thought because I was Hispanic I couldn't afford it. So if planning on renting this place make sure you pay up soon or don't count on having your party there. read more

We had our wedding here last year 10/12/17 and it was absolutely beautiful! This place was recommended by 2 of our friends and we couldn't have made a better choice. They are so organized and call to remind you about everything. If we had a concern or question, we would email or call and they were all so patient. The food was to die for! To this day I am still trying to recreate their eggplant Parmesan because my husband was blown away, but so were all of our guests. Dealing with Swiss Park has been a total nightmare, booked my event in March , had a scheduling issue early April , left several messages and not one single person bothered to call to help out with my issue . Had to get my credit card company involved, which they also tried to reach someone at Swiss Park . Good for events, buildings and field are kept clean, right off the highway so easy to locate. Been here for a couple of events, and everyone was happy and having a good time. Our wedding went off 1000% perfectly, from the ceremony, to cocktail hour, to the awesome DJ's, to the food! I am a very-detailed planner that can go cray with spreadsheets and timelines, and the Swiss Park staff, especially Larry, was super-patient with me, answered absolutely all my questions, and went above and beyond! I give the venue appearance, food, and staff 4 stars. 3 stars to the office for a scheduling snafu on their part, which they did accommodate us with a few extras. The event I attended in the park area was swarming with insects. You would think that in this day and age, they would perform some routine preventive maintenance to keep the insects under control, what with the worldwide concern over zika and dengue. I, and others that attended, left the event completely covered in mosquito bites and are currently experiencing an itchy hell. A semi-formal event doesn't usually bring to mind a thought to wear any insect repellent with fancy dresses and make up. One would usually trust the venue to have these things under control. read more
