Do Not enter a long-term contract with these predators!…read more I paid a one-year membership and started training in the gym last Sep. Unfortunately, I got a bad knee injury during the training just less than a month out. I had to rest for weeks before trying again, and just realized that I could not continue. Hoping that I could recover soon, I did not cancel my membership as they have this "save time" allowing members to carry over the missing training time and extend after the contract expiration date. This was a HUGE mistake. In Mar 2023, I knew that I had to move out of Toronto in May due to a job change, and started contacting them for a refund by email and phone. I contacted them in the next month, none of my emails was replied, phone calls were rarely answered. In frustration, I went to the facility in person. To my dismay, the admin person accused me of showing up without an appointment, and their manager Joshua show no compassion after knowing my situation. Despite having trained for only five weeks in total, they refused to refund me for the entire duration, claiming that the "save time" policy didn't apply to refunds. They only agreed to refund me for the months after I left Toronto, which was four months since May. I have trained in multiple MMA gyms before, and I can confidently say that this is the worst one I've experienced. The only saving grace was the wonderful coaches, but they cannot compensate for the gym's predatory practices. I am utterly disappointed and feel cheated. I sincerely hope others do not make the same mistake I did and steer clear of this gym.

This is a predominantly Gi gym, though Professor offered to roll me in NoGi. I attended the morning class, and it's mainly nice, working class folks. I'm looking forward to see how this place grows over time.

Any place that can get me to enjoy exercising deserves a medal. I knew my 100th review had to go…read moreto something special, so after a mere moment's consideration, I decided it would have to be Cirque Ability. I signed up for Beginner's Acrobatics with about 6 weeks left in the session, and from the first class I loved it. Each class has a maximum of six students per instructor, which is a great ratio. And for something so specialized and with such small classes, the price is great - only about $15 per class. The main draw for me though is that it's fun, and it's a great workout that's over before you know it. The hour goes by so quickly, because you enjoy what you're doing, rather than running on a treadmill watching the minutes tick by. It's also rewarding because you can easily measure the difference between where you were at the beginning and where you are now. The first time I felt like my cartwheel didn't look like a drunken four year old was an amazing feeling. As was the first time I managed to balance on just my head and my hands. Heather is a great instructor and she really helps by breaking down each move. Sure, I can't do a handstand yet, but I'm working on building the muscle, balance and confidence to ensure that I'll probably be able to in the winter session. All in all, they're a great workout class that I just love and I can't wait for the winter session to begin!

If you are looking for traditional martial arts instruction in Brampton this is the place to go…read more The system is solid and the instructors are excellent. I started training here in 1990. I was looking for a traditional Karate dojo. Of course at the time I had no idea of what I was really even looking for. The Brampton AMA delivered everything I was looking for. After over 20 years of training I consider this place to be my second home and my second family. I cannot say enough good things about it. The core system is Japanese Goju Ryu Karate Do. Goju Ryu is a style of Karate that blends hard and soft aspects. I find this makes the system very adaptable to different body types, ages and fighting styles. They have an excellent youth program and a solid core of teenagers training there. But you can start training there at any age and physical condition. I started in my 20's, but I've seen people start training in their 60's. Another aspect of Goju Ryu is that there is a relatively small syllabus of katas (forms or patterns), compared to some other styles. This means there are plenty of opportunities to "cross-train" in complementary martial arts. I've had the opportunity to train in many martial arts including: various styles of karate, judo, jiu jitsu, boxing, tai chi, bagwa, traditional Okinawan weapons, knife and sword. The focus of the training is self-defence. So you get real martial arts training. But if you would like to do tournaments that is definitely available as well. One of things I really like is that the instructors are martial arts students as well. Everyone is actively training and learning. Once again, I simply cannot say enough good things about this dojo.
