The gym has plenty of equipment for all your cardio and strength workouts as well as has a large variety of group classes ranging from pilates, boxing, spin, yoga, and even barre. There is also personal training, a spa, sauna, and their clothing shop as well. There is also an IQ Food Co for your post-workout smoothies and healthy eats. This particular review is for a sculpted yoga class I was able to attend at Equinox. I can't comment on the membership prices since the class was a free event held at Equinox, however, I still had access to the entire gym after the yoga class. This particular location on Bay St. is inside Commerce Court West where you have to take an elevator up to the 3rd floor to access the gym. Upon entering you immediately face the reception area. The lighting of the gym at first when you enter is dark and moody. The areas with the machines are well lit and the yoga room overlooks the corner of Bay/King. The change rooms are big where there are plenty of lockers available. You are able to find the steam room, showers, and washrooms inside the changeroom. There is ample space to change and shower after your workout. Everything I needed for the yoga class was provided. The room is not heated. The spacing of the mats are generous where there is ample room for everyone to move. The instructor we had was clear with her instructions and the workout was fun. After class we were provided with cool refreshing towels. Overall, the gym is clean and provides many amenities with all the workout equipment and machines you can think of. The space is nice and definitely caters to a certain type of clientele. Location is in the heart of the financial district as well making it easy for anyone in the downtown core to access.

However I did not like the vibes of clients who like to take selfies inside the studio and you can still enter the studio once class has started.

The gym sits on the 36th floor and has a gorgeous view of Lake Ontario and the CN Tower and the Dome! Lots of equipments, Exercise bikes, Elliptical machines, Tread Mills and various other Weight Machines and assorted Bar Bells and Dumbbells. The Change room could be a little crowded during preCovid peak times. Now days quite empty as most members have not yet returned to downtown. It also has a Yoga Studio, Group Exercise classes and a full size swimming pool on the top floor. Steam room and Whirl pool in both Men and Women's Change rooms. Although I have never been in the Women's Change Room. It also has a Health Clinic staffed with many Physiotherapist, Registered Massage Therapist, Chiropractors , Athletic Specialists and Personal Trainers! It has a 5 star restaurant attached with a gorgeous view of the lake and the city. You don't have to be a member to eat at the restaurant or visit the Health Clinic for Treatments. Membership is expensive though, I pay $200 a month for use of the gym and assigned a tiny cube to store my Running Shoes and some gym clothes. The bigger lockers are for day use only . You can request a tour of the facility to get a better understanding of the facilities. If you mention my name, you might get some freebies... I usually go there 3 days a week in early mornings and it's almost like my own Private Gym. 10 minutes walk from my office, so there is no excuse for me not to go and get Fit!

Change rooms are fantastic and fully equipped with WHATEVER your heart desires - even personalized lockers! Run or gobble at their restaurant with a view. If you want to work out at a place that has nearly everything you need then this is that place but at a steep price point. They have a swimming pool and doesn't seem to ever get too crowded. I tried out the yoga lesson bright and early which was great as it felt more like a one one one. I liked this instructor as she wasn't too pushy or too pretentious (as is my issue with Yoga and I never really gave it a genuine go before for this reason). I felt great after and would probably even sign up for a membership if I worked in the area.

I've been a member at the West End YMCA for a few months. I wasn't going to say anything about what…read moreI thought were minor issues, but lately it's become a bit more disconcerting. I'm from a small town, and when I go into a business or establishment anywhere, I usually say "hi" to everyone. I also usually say "bye" when I leave. While I know that some people are busy when I enter and exit the gym at the West End YMCA, some people are just snobs and won't say anything to me, ever, or grudgingly do so, even when they're not busy. This has occurred with a woman that works there on more than one occasion. I don't know her name and I don't care to know. I have said "hi" to her repeatedly, on different occasions before, miraculously, she said "hi" to me, once. You'd think I was pulling teeth the way it pained her to do so. I don't understand. If I say "hi" to people that are available and are not busy, what's the problem? I don't "want" her. I'm acting like a GD human being. Geez, it's so easy for me and so tough for her to say "hi". Since it's such a privilege for her to act human once in awhile, I don't really feel like saying "hi" to her anymore. I don't need it and I just ignore her. It's not my job to be polite to people. It's hers. Maybe she should think about that and her overall behaviour. Another time, I asked another woman about whether I could get a TV in another room to play a bicycle path video that they used to play in the spin class room during my time on the stationary bike. Since they never gave me an answer, but always told me that "they have to check with their supervisor", I would keep asking, once, whenever I went to the gym. I finally got an answer one day, that it was not possible. The problem was the women interrupted me, as if I had asked the same question too many times. If I never get an answer to my question then how am I supposed to know what it is? Please don't interrupt me when I talk. I don't like the attitude of most of the staff. Is it because I'm chunky that they think I don't have the right to be treated like a human being? The reason I'm chunky is because I take meds that I need to live, and it's put 50 pounds on me, but I don't have a choice. I have done nothing to anyone there, and yet I pay $66 a month for people to sometimes be polite to me but mostly not. I've kind of had it with the staff there. The fact that this is the only place that I go to where the staff has to decide that day whether they will be snobs or not, says something about that gym and the people that run it. I am very disappointed with the service that I receive there. Now I know why I don't like some snobs in Toronto. I'd rather be in my hometown. Since then, I've talked to someone in charge and I thought the situation would get better. I was saying "hello" to the staff when I went there and some, including the snob woman, said "hello" to me once or twice. The problem is that they always seem to be too busy to have time to say "hello" to me. If I see someone talking to someone else, or on the computer, then I'm not going to bother them or get them to say "hi" to me. I don't need it. But they should really stop what they're doing and say "hello". Again, it's their GD job. Today, I said "hello" to the people at the entrance, and they grudgingly said "hello" to me. The same woman looks at me like I raped her or something. Like, saying "hello" and rape are 2 different things. Princess should learn the difference. Then, at Starbucks across the street, the other woman that interrupted me before and miraculously said "hello" today was there with her boyfriend and kissed him about 2 feet in front of me. Yeah, I'm alone. You don't have to shove your GD relationship in my face. I'm going to cancel my membership there in early September. I want to be around people that can act like human beings and not some kind of trash. Some people there are nice, but too many aren't, and I don't have money to waste on their BS gym. If I could give this gym 0 stars, I would. They suck royally. It's time for some of the soulless staff there to get off their asses and say GD "hello" to me. I'm friendly with people everywhere else I go. At the West End YMCA, they're the ones with the problem, not me. Geez, learn to act civilized already. I've been in better shape for more years in my life than anyone there. Last December, I was doing 8.5 hours of exercise a week and I was 179 pounds. I don't have a GD thing to prove to anyone.

After trying out these gyms, I came to the conclusion that Adelaide Club is the best bang for your buck and also the most conveniently location. I personally like CrossFit style workout and Adelaide's StregthLab program is exactly what I need: a CrossFit style program inside a gym, allowing me to do some Strenth and Conditioning workout, while enjoying the other perks in the club (yoga, cycling, squash, towel services, steam room, etc.) Note that the StregthLab program and squash are not included on the basic membership. Having said that, it's still cheaper than any other CrossFit gyms. Also, another benefits at the Adelaide's StrengthLab program is that the workout are tailored to office athletes; heavy lifts and complex gymnastic movements are not part of the workout (muscle-ups, overhead squat, etc). Another perk of the club is that members get to enjoy reciprocal access to other exclusive clubs across Canada and abroad (private golf clubs, tennis club, other high end gyms in Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary)

They've been increasing fees and such, but we wanted to support our local center. Over the last week, our credit card on file expired and we wanted to take a pause in our membership anyway due to upcoming travel. We called five times, left three voicemails and finally we received an email back one week later from Jamie to come in and resolve things. When we came, They said the membership director Jamie just went for a walk and we heard after 10 minutes that perhaps he wouldn't be back (uncertain since they didn't have his cellphone). Although the membership director presented some options via email, the junior staff refused to entertain them and said we could come back four days later after the long weekend to address it, even though we told them we were traveling for a few weeks afterward. Worst of all, Priyanthi, the staff member, refused to allow us to enter the gym! Physically refused us! Not only did they bill us for the month and threaten us with collections, they refused us to enter the gym until the membership director came back to follow through on his own offer via email! This is unacceptable and why everyone is abandoning this center in droves, leading to fee increases. Wow.

The fitness boutique's first location is located in Etobicoke. The majority of their yoga and Pilates classes are in a heated room where the reformers are in a different room (grip socks are required to use the reformers). I was able to experience a class at Solis Movement recently. Was excited to check out this space as I had seen so much of it on Instagram. Upon entering the third floor (there are stairs to climb), you are met with an open space that is light and airy. You are required to take your shoes off before entering the studio. There are many shoe racks available to place your shoes. There is some seating at the entrance before you make your way to the reception area. The reception area has some merch as well as accessories available for purchase. Changerooms (separate for men's and women's) are at the back. There are lockers in the hallway or in the changerooms. For the women's changeroom, there are 3 individual toilet stalls and 2 shower stalls. If you do decide to shower there are also Dyson hair dryers as well. I took a hot HIIT Pilates class during my time at Solis. The props for the class are located outside the yoga/Pilates room where the instructor tells you what to pick up before you enter. There are 2 different types of weights (2 pounds or 5 pounds) as well as 3 different type of resistance bands available for your choosing. There are also yoga blocks as well. For my class we were told to take a pair of weights, a block and a resistance band. Not knowing what exercises we would be doing I opted to get both set of weights and 2 types of resistance bands just in case. In the yoga/Pilates room, each mat is assigned a number. The instructor's mat is situated in the centre of the room but she also walks around as well. Our instructor for the class was great - she was enthusiastic and encouraged us to do our best with the workout as well as provided modifications for all fitness levels. Her instructions were clear and the music she played was definitely a vibe. I definitely worked up a sweat as we went through different exercises to target the whole body (glutes, abs, arms, back, etc.). Before the cool down, we ended class with a cardio set as well. Overall, Solis is definitely a great new addition to the King West neighbourhood offering hot yoga/Pilates and reformer classes in a bright and light atmosphere. Definitely would consider to return if I want to switch up my workouts once in a while!
