I have been going to this store ever since I was a kid (40 years ago) and have always supported them by buying my suits there even though the costs were a bit more than other big box stores or Amazon. I went into the store today to buy suits for my two kids who swim in the neighborhood and Matt, the owner, berated me (in front of my family) when I asked to look my children's sizes up on their computer. He was extremely rude and told me they were just too busy to help look up sizes and that I would have to figure it out. (there were maybe 7 people in the store). They lost a long time customer. I will also be recommending that the summer club should purchase team swimsuits elsewhere. Purchased a lap swim snorkel with a gentleman working. The fit was completely wrong for my face, and unfortunately I didn't know enough about this type of snorkeling system before buying it. Knowing this is a non-returnable purchase, I was hopeful this gentleman would have some good input on how to adjust the snorkeling band or switch it out. He sold me a snorkel that was too large for my size! When someone says "I've never heard of any complaints like this before", you know that is the end of the conversation. He didn't offer me alternative ideas, and was too focused on his store's policies vs helping me trouble shoot on how to find a snorkel that I can use, or adjust the one that I bought. It's important we support our smaller independent businesses, but I don't recommend this business for swimming accessories beyond swimsuits- unless you know exactly what you are looking for and how it should work. read more

I started taking swimming lessons about a month ago. Went to Swim N Things because it's close to my house. Everything swim-related, they have it right there for you. I was able to pick up some necessities and the personable sales person allowed me to try on swim cap prior to purchasing it. I have a headful of thick hair and would hate to spend money on something that doesn't fit and do the return/exchange/purchase again dance. I didn't buy my swimsuit there, but if I am in need of another one, i will definitely go here. I have an old one that I've been using for lessons. In the store, they have a wide selection of related items and a plethora of goggles to best feature and suits specific type that is most comfortable...or simply a certain color to match the school's or team's color(s). Staff is knowledgeable and can direct you to locate specific swimsuit you are looking for to try on in one of their spacious fitting room(s). Only gripe I would have is the fact that they are NOT accredited, nor meet the standard as a BBB (Better Business Bureau) business, can be "sticklers" to adhering to strict return policy for returns and exchanges (even when it comes to reasonable request of returning a product other than a bathing suit), may seem overpriced to the average consumer. May seem too expensive especially when not publicly advertising applicable member seasonal discounts when choosing to subscribe to their mailing list that makes it exclusive for only certain individuals. Also the lack of any additional coupons or discounts on in-store purchases posted on their website. I have been aware and have shopped at their location for years now as a specialty sporting goods outlet store in the past. I like the good, quality products they carry. Overall bad experience. I decided to take up swimming as a means of physical therapy for a pretty bad back injury. I came to this store looking for some friendly guidance, but felt the experience was, well, frustrating and unpleasant. If you're looking for customer service, don't waste your time OR your money at Swim N Things. Customer service is non-existent. The employees are grouchy, cold, and unhelpful. I tried on several sizes of competitive bathing suits and to no avail, none fit. I have a much longer torso than usual, so the bottom portion of the suit cut into my hips and was extremely uncomfortable. I mentioned this to one of the employees standing near the fitting rooms, to which she remarked in a condescending tone, "the swimsuit is going to stretch so it should fit snug." Newsflash: I'm not a competitive swimmer, nor do I ever plan to race, I'm doing this strictly for recreation, therefore If I'm about to drop $100 on a swimsuit, it better be somewhat comfortable. Right? I disclaimed about my torso and her response: "Oh yeah, they don't make longer ones in the competitive swimsuit." She did not try to help me find an alternative (I.e., two piece), she stood behind the desk and continued going about her business. I meandered around the store confused and defeated, wanting to get the Hell out of there, but my husband convinced me to stay and try on a couple of the two piece competitive suits. I did. There were (at least) three people working that I saw and a total of four people in the store, my husband and I, and another couple. There is no excuse for Swim N Things employee's lack of support for customers who might not have as much knowledge as them about swimming - I felt as though there was a bit of "swim mom ego" radiating through those walls. You should be able to stop tagging inventory for five minutes to help someone who is eager to spend money in your store. I will not be shopping here again. read more

I went in today to get a pair of swimming fins. I man who helped me was super helpful and listened to me ALOT. I tried on several pairs and he was not in a hurry, but wanted me to be happy. During this time of COVID we do not want this shop to go under. I would love for you to think about purchasing from them, instead of giving the internet a few (maybe two or three) more dollars. I hate the hassle of sending stuff back, especially when I could have gotten the knowledge of the right product the first time. I have been coming to this outstanding place for ALL of my water activities for many many years. About a month ago, husband and I had the pleasure of each buying a set of mask, fins and snorkels. There was a great selection, and expert guidance given to each of us. We needed personal help fitting the equipment, which we received. We were totally happy with every aspect of this experience. This past week, I went back to buy a bathing suit, which is my least favorite shopping trip. Again, there was so many different types and brands to choose from. And, again expert advice this time from the women's perspective. At one point I truly did not believe I would find a bathing suit. But, given the wonderful selection in this store, I did indeed find a truly outstanding bathing suit, well within my budget. I will return again and again. I came here very excited about a swim specialty store. Left with $300 in suits and goggles. Caveat emptor is their motto I believe. I used the swim suit once and it stretched out so much it is unusable. As if the Lycra is dried out. Then one of the $36 goggles leaked due to a non adjustable nose piece. I went to the store and they said they will not take either back. So I'd say don't go here if you are looking to try out something you've not used before and since the prices are so high I'd suggest trying a retailer with a better exchange and service policy. read more

Buyer Beware! I need some specialty swim items for my severely disabled son so I drove over 30 miles to purchase some things from this store. I wasn't sure what would work so I carefully asked about their return policy and whether I could mail back that items I didn't need within the 10 day limit because it was too difficult to drive that distance with my son. When I got home I needed to return one item so I called the store to verify the address and again asked if it was okay to mail it back. I mailed it the next day but it was returned as not deliverable despite having the correct address and postage. The same day it was returned to me, I repackaged it and mailed it again but it arrived a few days past the 10 day limit. The store then called to tell me that they were only able to do a store credit since it was late. I explained what had happened and talked to several people there but they flatly refused to give an exception to their policy. Given my efforts to ensure I was following the rules and asking for some accommodation given the circumstances, these owners appear very unreasonable and are not interested in providing good customer service! I returned the one he did not like within 4 days, with tags on, with receipt, with orginal bag and tissue paper ( since it was not even tried on ) and got a whole bunch of attitude and pressure to find something else. We shop here for our kids swim team suits and goggles. They are on multiple teams and require lots of stuff. You might be able to find suits online a little cheaper but nothing beats the convenience of trying on and the advice you get. Goggles are definitely comparable to on-line and really should be tried on first for fit. It is worth the convenience to not have to mail items back. Best swimming suit buying experience....ever. I am shocked looking at these reviews...they are either 5 star or 1 star....big disparity. Most women have some body issues, and the swim suit store really high lights them, at least for me. The staff knows their merchandise, they know which suits are pretty and which are work horses....most importantly they know if a suit fits correctly. They seem committed to getting each buyer the right suit. This is my second time I bought from them....I bought 3 suits today...I thought they were fairly priced....they aren't TJ Maxx or Target prices but they are fair. The staff is very helpful! I came in to replace my goggles and had my new ones chosen in just a few minutes because of recommendations shown to me that upgraded my old ones. Then I wanted to look at some Reef Sandals. She took out every pair of sandals my size to show me what they carried and there were a lot! From swim suits to goggles I always know I'm going to be treated well here. And BTW, when I came home with my purchases and compared pricing online on Amazon, goggles and sandals.......I saved money!
