It doesn't seem to get my Jeep any cleaner than any of the $3 gas station washes in town. It leaves a lot of dirt on the back of my Jeep. It doesn't even clean up close around the washer fluid sprayers on my hood. It just doesn't get my Jeep very clean. At all. On top of that, it pushes you through the drying section too fast to get rid of the water. Sure, it's blowing at you at 90mph, but you only get about 5 seconds worth of dry time. They offer 4 levels of wash. I've done at least 3 of them and I haven't noticed a difference in quality between the cheapest and the 'deluxe' version. None of them get my Jeep clean. I was hopeful when this was announced. I'm now officially disappointed. I'd love to see something more like Mr. Car Wash in Des Moines where they'll actually hand dry it for you. I can get a much better wash and air dry many places in Ames/Huxley at a better price than this. I really wanted this to be better.

This means that consumers can use Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Fitbit Pay, etc, without having to go inside the gas station. Although Casey's and Kim and Go have NFC at the registers inside their gas stations, none of them have it at the pump. Right there, that's the way how pumping gas should be done and it shows that at least this Phillips 66 location is committed to the future over not just pumping gas, but paying for items in general.

Equipment here frequently doesn't work - for example I was here today and as usual, the receipt printer in the Touch-Free bay didn't function. This is par for the course here, as more times than not responding "yes" on the touch screen for a receipt results in nothing. But then, the wash itself is also frequently out of calibration. Such as today. When I pulled into the bay, the LED screen kept telling me to "drive forward" until I was practically to the dryer, even though I was moving at an absolute crawl. Then it asked me to back up several feet. At least it didn't attempt to wash my car in the forward position - that would have been a disaster! But a nuisance nonetheless. This experience has reminded me about another visit earlier this spring, when the Touch-Free bay didn't function at all on one visit. It accepted my payment, instructed me to drive forward, but then nothing happened at all once inside. I exited, circled around and re-entered, but still nothing. There is a posted phone number to call for assistance or problems, but no one answered and no one returned my polite call requesting a call back for renumeration. Bottom line, if you must wash your car while on the north side of Ames, this is the only choice of a place to go. From now on I'll just make the trek across town to other, more reliable options.
