On a hot day in the south, there is just something pleasant about getting a cold shaved ice and sitting at the picnic tables, watching the cars go by. This spot has new owners that seem to keep the hours pretty regular now, and they are as nice as can be, they even sat and talked to us for awhile about their new business. Very friendly! They seem to being doing well too, as on weekends there are always plenty of cars parked around and people in line. So, is it five stars say compared to a fine dining experience? lol of course not. They all appear to be independently owned. It was hopping during the weekend! The sales clerks were no nonsense and kind. This place has grown tremendously since we came two years ago. I was super excited about the funnel cake, and I unwrapped the box and took a picture. The funnel cake was shockingly small, and there wasn't a lot of powdered sugar and just a few strawberries. I expected a more significant portion for the $10 price. Additionally, the flavor of the batter was delicious, but the funnel cake itself was pretty greasy, though otherwise cooked well. The greasiness made it soggy and not a super tasty experience. I'd say that it was overall a 3 to a 3-1/2-star product. The extra star I'm giving is for the excellent service. They are probably a new business working out the kinks and need more feedback and guidance to step it up to a headling product. I also think their menu was a bit extensive and varied, which may make it challenging to prepare orders promptly. With some refinement, this could be a great spot. It doesn't do much in the ambiance as it is an outdoor tent adjacent to a barbershop in the Roses parking lot on the Plaza, but I don't think that's what people come here for.
