    Blueberry muffin - 11 out of 10
    Brynt L.

I have always passed this place and decided to check them out over the weekend. It was an absolutely packed! Note, be sure to go early on a Saturday. I was told that I had to try their cinnamon rolls. When I arrived I saw they also had a special pecan pie cinnamon roll -- I mean, c'mon! Unfortunately, they had just fold the last two to the person right before me. A little disappointed. I was not going to leave there empty handed. I decided to get the blueberry muffin. Undoubtedly, the best blueberry muffin I have had. It was perfectly moist, fresh tasting and not overly sweet. While I was disappointed I couldn't get the cinnamon roll, I think any thing is a safe bet here. I'll definitely be back.

    Turkey bacon avocado sandwich

This is a really fun spot to go to for breakfast or lunch. They had plenty of parking in the back, which was nice. I ordered the turkey and avocado sandwich with fries and my friend ordered the breakfast burrito and we were both happy with what we got. I asked for a side of ranch with my fries and the ranch was absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back and I would love to try something else to see what else they have on the menu!

We found Sunflower after moving to the neighborhood last year, and have been fans ever since. The food at Sunflower is excellent, the service is efficient and friendly, and the ambiance is inviting. The place is almost always packed with customers dining in for a late breakfast, and the laptop crowd, working with a coffee. The people at Sunflower care about their product and providing a great experience to patrons, and they go above and beyond to show it: Recently, I've been picking up breakfast and lunch more often - my wife and I have a newborn, and Sunflower's breakfast sandwiches have been highly requested in our house. I casually dropped this detail while ordering this week, and was surprised with two chocolate chip cookies and a congratulatory note in our order. This was a total surprise, and the sweet treat was appreciated by two, sleep-deprived parents. Definitely give Sunflower a try. This place is one of our favorites in Greenville!

    Southern breakfast with sausage

Visited Sunflower Cafe today with the hubs. Parking lot was noticeably missing marked handicapped parking, but there were close/ramped spots available. This is a counter-order shop / bus your own table restaurant. They offer a lovely variety of pastries to choose from. Plenty of "fancy" coffee variations, though I ordered regular coffee. It was good. Seating in the restaurant is either wooden benches or metal chairs. This seems to be the trendy thing, but is not necessarily the most comfortable seating. That being said, the decor is simple and tasteful. We had breakfast, and both chose the Southern breakfast. Our breakfast was accurate and came out quickly. Both ordered our eggs scrambled, one with bacon and one with sausage. The eggs were good, but very well done. I happen to like them that way, so it's all good! Sausage and bacon were both good--especially the bacon which was a thick cut and the portion plentiful. What stole the show, though, was the Adluh Mills grits. Smooth, buttery, creamy, and served hot in a bowl. Delicious! That means a log coming from this picky Southern gal! Ciabatta toast comes with the Southern breakfast, which is a very pleasant change from the usual fare at other places. I suspect that once word gets out, this will be a popular spot!

Chicken salad sandwich and tomato soup
    Christine A.

I was craving a sandwich and soup and found Sunflower with a quick Yelp search. The ambiance is very dull, almost feels like you're eating at a fast food joint. The service was excellent, the lady who took our order was super friendly. I got the chicken salad sandwich and tomato soup. I thought the soup was pretty good, but the sandwich was pretty terrible. Chicken salad had almost no flavor and the bread as you can see in the picture was rubbery and burnt. My mom got a breakfast sandwich, she said it was ok but nothing special. She also ordered without tomatoes because of her heartburn and it came with them on it, not a big deal but a lack of attention to detail. Expected more out of this place with the previous reviews, maybe we hit it on an off day but would not recommend from this experience.

Gouda Burger not to be confused with "The Good Burger" from Arby's I saw this burger on my Facebook feed and was like..... the koolaid man! Oh yeahhhhhhhh sweet and savory is my FAV combination. They had me at housemade bacon jam. It was a big big burger! I couldn't finish it all but it was delicious for sure. I also heard the pastries are amazing so I had to pick up a couple. I grabbed the Cinnamon bun which was HUGE as you can see. I took a small bite but it needs to be warmed up for me to decide if I love it. I also picked up the apple cake with maple frosting. THIS THANG MADE THE WHOLE TRIP WORTH IT. Moist (sorry if this triggered you), not overly sweet, chunk of apples and yumminess. I would come back literally just for this cake alone. I'm excited to go back and try some of the breakfast menu items soon. Oh and I almost forgot, the service was great for pickup! They are very friendly.

We stopped in on a road trip down to Atlanta. Life is too short to eat bad food so I had done my homework beforehand and this place was on our radar. Service was excellent, the food was delicious, and such a cute little sandwich shop! Upfitted and tidy location. Good work!

    Cheese Grits

My wife and I tried Sunflower while on vacation in Greenville. Having grown up in Greenville, I knew that the building had been one the first Pizza Huts in Greenville from the early 1970s, then a succession of other restaurants and bars over the last 25 years. So it was great to see another restaurant opening in the same building which I had many pleasant memories from eating pizza in the 70s. We both had the Bacon Egg & Cheese on a homemade Ciabbotta Roll and Cheese Grits. The sandwiches were delicious and bacon and eggs were cooked perfectly. The Ciabbotta Roll was baked on site and was perfectly suited to go with the breakfast sandwich. It would be great with a hamburger or a Italian coldcut sandwich. The Cheese Grits were very creamy and tasty, though they could have been better with a little less salt. This is why only complaint witah the grits. My wife had coffee to drink and I had a Latte. The Latte was outstanding, much better than several of the coffee chains that have cropped up across Columbia in recent years. Not only was the Latte delicious but it was was prepared by a talented Barrista who knew how to present to drink with the picture of a flower. The decision to try Sunflower was guided by the Yelp Top Breakfast List in Greenville. The list did not mislead: Sunflower is top spot to eat breakfast in Greenville!

    S.E.C Sandwich

Tasty breakfast spot. I got the S.E.C. sandwich, which was greasy, flavorful, and hot! The bun was definitely fresh which elevated it to another level. Only complaint was that the sausage patty was a bit small. The coffee was good as well

breakfast burrito was the best I've had in the area, vibe is good, they could probably benefit with some more staff!

Food was good but the noise level is unbearable. A week after visiting, I don't remember what I ate-just that it was too loud to enjoy.

We were seated on the terrace by the door, which was less than desirable but still good. The chair I was in was awfully uncomfortable, but the benches were suitable. For food, we ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts, Earl Grey tea bread, chicken tamales, berry French toast, mushroom bruschetta and fried oysters. The Brussels were good and perfectly cooked. The Earl Grey tea bread was good, but too sweet for me (not a sweets person). My friends ordered the chicken tamales and berry French toast, respectively, and enjoyed their meal. For me, the menu didn't have anything that caught my eye, so I made a meal of the small plates. I love mushrooms, but I felt that the mushrooms in the bruschetta needed to be chopped. Their meaty texture and large pieces made it less than desirable, even though the flavor was good. The oysters were well-cooked and served in an ample portion, but with cocktail sauce rather than aioli. When asked, she brought me the paprika aioli that's on the Brussels sprouts. Still, I think a lemon-and-herb aioli or a lemon-and-horseradish aioli would have been more appropriate for a fresh brightness to cut through the breading. It was almost a good meal, but oftentimes the devil is in the details.

I was hungry and didn't know what or where to eat, not like there is a lack of options, but did I want ramen or something more local in regional flare? I picked the second one. I ended up at Tupelo Honey because fresh southern fried chicken sounded amazing and this place wasn't going to break the bank. I guess this place is a chain but I didn't know this until I was eating. The staff were beyond friendly and attentive and they answered all of my questions about the food. The restaurant was super clean. I ended up ordering the half bird with original seasoning on it. The seasoning the put on it is a crystallized honey power and something else in it, it gives the chicken a nice sweet flavor but not overpowering. They also have a spicy version for you spice lovers. The half bird came with 4 pieces as one would expect, the crust was crispy and the chicken was awesome. I was eating the dark meat and couldn't get over how juicy it was. The real test as you all know is the breast, is that going to be dry? Nope, it was so moist and flavorful, it was a home run. I guess they brine their chicken for some good amount of time and it shows. My sides though I wish I would have gotten more adventurous, the meal came with two sides so I got a salad and the fried potatoes as a recommendation from the waitress. They were good but the mac n cheese looked better. Overall this place is great and I would go again. It's right downtown and the service was fast and friendly. Great place for some fried chicken .

The property was very impressively decorated for Christmas!! I loved how the large, two story Christmas Tree was in the main lobby and extended to the mezzanine level and they decorated it so very nicely! I also noticed the garland inside and wreaths outside. The whole property was nicely kept up to shape as well, so regardless of seasonal décor, I'm sure it's a beautiful place any time of year! This property has a restaurant onsite, Spoon Bread is what it's called. They also have the Piano Lounge. The Piano Lounge has a bar, which is a nice (and clearly popular) place to hang out and meet prior to leaving the property for dinner. Also a nice place to gather for that after dinner night cap with co-workers. Sleep quality was decent. HVAC in the room was nice and quiet... the worst part of the room was the bathroom, which I hated because you can't open the door and use the shower, because the door opens into the tub. They need to replace the door with barn style or pocket doors, like other properties have. Only other issue was the valet. I tipped a dollar on one drop off one day and the valet gave it back. I've never had that happen before. So, a dollar isn't enough and you prefer nothing at all? Noted! Overall, the stay was nice, but next time I'm in town, I'll try the AC across the street - It's looked way more festive outside and it's worth a try.
