Great trainer and community! Classes are fun, everyone is very welcoming, and coach does a great job adjusting to each person's level.

Great guy who gives instructs solid technique and pushes you just enough. You won't regret taking his first free class. I've been coming back ever since! read more

I almost hesitate to write a 5 star review because I don't want him to get so popular that all of his classes get booked! But honestly Aaron is the best around. I have been so fortunate to learn from him and grow as a boxer. If you've ever wanted to dive head first into the world of boxing, Aaron is just the guide you want. I've gone from barely knowing the 6 punches to being able to do multiple punch combinations in just a matter of months and it's all thanks to him. He's caring, encouraging, and never afraid to throw out a "that's what she said". I can guarantee you won't regret giving his class a shot!! read more

Aaron, Piper, and the TF team are precisely who you *forever* hope to have in your corner. The quality of coaching is absolutely standout (and especially in a town that is otherwise teeming with places to punch and/or kick). Rooted in traditional disciplines, exceedingly approachable and intuitive formats, the training provided here serves as a careful commitment to becoming both stronger and more easeful when faced with any of the fights of our lives. Come for the fundamentals and combinations and wonderful humans, (and you'll return again and again for the ways in which each of your moves will feel evermore precise, graceful, and full of joy). read more

I honestly didn't want to write a review for this place at first because I thought this was the best-kept secret in Santa Monica, but it's already taking off so I might as well ride the wave. Aaron doesn't recite cookie-cutter drills just to get people to exercise like some places in Santa Monica. He knows his student's skill levels and adapts his mitt work accordingly. He helps elevates each person's boxing level no matter the amount of their experience. The classes are taught in a light, fun manner as if it's a friend training you. Each class has a good balance of technique and strength/endurance training. If you're new or a seasoned boxer, I highly recommend giving it a try. read more

My absolute FAVORITE obsession is going to Aaron's studio and taking class with him and the other students. He's so good at working with each person individually and helping them out with footwork and technique. He's very patient because let's be real boxing is not easy. He knows when to push people and because of that everyone leaves class feeling stronger, sweatier and better than when they first came in. The studio is super cute and clean! It's small group classes so you really get quality 1:1 attention from Aaron. The class is broken up into stretching, conditioning, HIIT, heavy bag, mit work, and abs. FULL BODY. FULL HEARTS. CAN'T MOVE (because I'm sore the next day, and hopefully you get my FNL reference). So go sign up right now! His first time offer is too good to beat so you have no excuse. Go! read more

I bought the Starter package and am now on recurring sessions. Needless to say this place is legit. You get so much personal attention and Aaron is so motivating and an incredible coach. You can pay a lot more ( which I have ) for a lot less. The classes are intense, fun, and challenging in the best way. I found him through Yelp and couldn't be happier I did ! Strongly recommend checking him out ! read more

I had Aaron as a personal trainer back in Chicago. Great guy - great trainer! I could tell he wasn't just going through the motions. He was really putting thought in my training and working out where my strengths and weakness were. When we sparred, he would challenge me and push me past thresholds, but without me feeling overwhelmed Excellent trainer with great character. I can't say enough about this guy. read more

There's a reason why Aaron has nothing but five star reviews. He is AMAZING. I met Aaron when I was going to a boxing gym in Santa Monica, doing mostly cardio boxing. He quickly recognized my love and aptitude for boxing and asked if I was interested in learning more technical boxing. So I started training with Aaron! Honestly, before training with Aaron, the idea of personal training terrified me. You're one on one so you can't slack off if you're tired or think you can get away with poor form...things I admit I sometimes did in a class of 30. My first session with Aaron went great. I was challenged not only physically, but mentally. He pushed me to work harder than I ever have and really strive to improve. He even threw some kickboxing and Muay Thai into the mix, which I now love as well. Since training with Aaron I've gone to a couple of boxing/Muay Thai gyms, and each time I've been complimented on my technical skills. Owe it all to this dude! Training with Aaron has also helped me recognize how out of shape I really was...haha I hit a point where I became lazy and staying active wasn't my main priority. So every time I would see Aaron again I would get my butt kicked. Now, I work out 5-6 times a week and have never felt better. This review is getting pretty long so I'm going to wrap it up...Aaron is an incredible trainer and just an overall great and genuine person. If you want to challenge yourself and learn something new (or improve what you already know), all the while actually having FUN (yeah, he makes exercise enjoyable!), hit up Aaron. read more

I trained under Aaron when he was teaching a kickboxing class in Chicago. What can I say? He was by far my favorite trainer at the gym. Aaron is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to boxing/kickboxing/Muay Thai and overall fitness. Aaron's style of training is extremely thorough and technical. After years of training in other martial arts I felt as though I were learning everything completely from scratch... only with much more proper form and execution. His workouts were never boring and featured an excellent cross-section of techniques. He's also extremely personable and attentive to your level of experience and abilities. I highly recommend this extremely talented fighter, and can only express my complete envy if you're starting your martial arts training under him. read more

Great gym coming from a Bellator fighter with 10 years experience this guy is a K1 top level athlete in kick boxing so anyone trying to do it for fun or take it to another level stop by! read more

I can't say enough about what this place is and it hasn't even officially opened yet. In other words, what Aaron Swenson has done with his studio , i believe: Is something that is quite unique, unparalleled, and it's what people want in the fitness world. He has created classes that are small, intimate, and individualized with 6 people per class. This allows the instructor to focus on each student and correct them if the need to. That tends to get neglected in bigger classes. Individualized attention in my opinion keeps me improving each week and allows me to get better and then continue to grow and work on new areas. Ultimately, it will keep me coming back. Bottom line, Aaron is awesome, he is a leader and he is focused. He is very patient and very caring. More importantly is a damn good boxer and knows how to teach. I honestly don't know why you wouldn't try his class ... other than if you can't get in because it's sold out read more

Aaron is so knowledgeable and extremely nice. I'm so happy with my choice to be trained by him! Would recommend to anyone interested in boxing! read more

Swenson Boxing is one of my favorite spots in LA!Not only will you work up a sweat boxing to wicked beats, Aaron will teach you proper technique and mitt work that will elevate your game well beyond what you'll learn at fitness gyms. This place is a gem! read more

Aaron Swenson absolutely sold me on learning multiple forms of fighting techniques. He has an infectious attitude, and his knowledge of boxing/kickboxing/muaythai with his ability to infuse them into a exciting and unique style makes developing fun instead of arduous, and I couldn't wait to get back to the gym for more. Now that I have been training for some time, I am confident in saying Aaron is the epitome of what is expected of a first rate trainer. His mitt holding is exceptional, and he is constantly able to spot areas that need correcting. He thinks outside of the box, and is always trying to absorb new techniques and concepts. He will look at everything objectively, and is never dismissive of an opinion. Many trainers charge insane amounts, and honestly have no fucking clue what they're doing; this is insulting and unacceptable. I promise that Aaron's personal training sessions are undervalued, and well worth every dollar spent. read more

he's the best. Amazingly talented and best workout around. I appreciate his technical approach. I haven't found that anywhere else in LA. Thanks Sensei Swenson! read more

My husband and I would ONLY go to Aaron's class when he taught at UFC (we tried one other trainer once and I just couldn't take it). We were very sad when we left Chicago and had to not only find a whole new boxing gym but also someone we liked as a trainer. I'd recommend Aaron to anyone looking for a trainer that's motivating, easy-going and knows his s***! read more

Aaron has been teaching me the fundamentals of the sweet science and I have been progressing. We start off with the Boxer's stance/footwork, then some line drills and punching technique/critique, then some controlled partner/sparring drills. Just yesterday for first time we did light sparring. This was the best lesson yet. I was able get a real assessment of my progression. Aaron held back of course while I was trying my best to land my punches. Thanks Aaron. I look forward to our next lesson. read more

Fantastic classes! I take 2 to 3 classes and 1 pvt a week with Aaron. I love how empowered I feel and so focused during and after the class! The music enables me to feel the rhythm while I'm punching! Aaron is a fabulous instructor , who encourages you to realize your potential . The classes are addicting in the best way! read more

I can only say good thing a about Aaron. He's such a knowledgeable trainer, that no matter what you are looking for, health wise, you should seek it out through him. He's a motivator, in that he helps push you to that level that you need to feel like you had a really great workout. As much information as he has, he is constantly learning at how to be better at his craft. I can't say enough about what an inspiration the man is. I have been with several trainers. Dozens, even. But Aaron is among the best I've trained with. Worth every penny. read more

Aaron has truly mastered the art of making the daunting, difficult sport of boxing accessible to people from every walk of life. Whether I'm taking a class with my 60 year old aunt, a guy who's won in the ring, or someone who's never taken a boxing class before, I always feel challenged, empowered and really cared for. Usually at your first class one of Aaron's first questions for you are what your own personal goals are and he truly does his best to help you achieve them. I told him I wanted to feel good about myself and really learn the art of boxing, but I always try to give up on myself when things get hard or I'm uncomfortable, and this guy has NEVER let me say no. He pushes me right past my fear ( and a whole lot of complaining) and is always there with a "you're killing it!" or "i'm proud of you!" after I did something I thought I couldn't. Aaron's amazing vibe and passion for the sport has created a community that is so amazing ! I'll walk into a class and see someone I've never met kill a combo for the first time and everyone is cheering them on! It's truly a judgement free zone and I'm so thankful to be a part of it. Aaron's out here training an army of baby ninjas so you better hop on this train! love you sensei Aaron!! read more

Aaron is a phenomenal boxing coach. I have worked with Aaron in both his group classes and private training sessions. He is incredibly knowledgeable and the workouts are a blast. Before finding Aaron (on Yelp!) I tried boxing classes at other gyms. Those classes were impersonal, and it did not feel like the coaches knew much about boxing. Everything at Swenson Boxing is the complete opposite, and I cannot recommend it enough. Aaron works with clients at all skill levels to help them improve their boxing/fitness and achieve whatever goals they have for themselves. read more

I began taking classes with Aaron without any previous experience in the martial arts. Very quickly I was seeing terrific results physically as well as mentally from Aaron's instruction. More focused, less stressed, more confident, and having a lot of fun. While training with Aaron you will be so engaged in learning what he has to teach - as I was - that you will soon be in the best shape of your life and wonder how you got there. Make no mistake, Aaron's instruction is top notch. He is an incredible teacher, champion, and an even better person. read more

I followed Aaron from Chicago to SoCal, so I feel like that's a review in itself, right? Saying that our workouts are the highlights of my week is arguably a little too Tea Detox Millennial, but I swear on this taco I'm eating that it's true. My sessions with Aaron are physical challenges that leave me feeling rejuvenated and give me a mental reset that helps me feel refreshed and ready to take on the world. This dude's gone above and beyond to create sessions that are tailored to me - from the exercises to the equipment to the music - he's a Class A rockstar. I get bored easily, but Aaron has created session after session to get me motivated and actually excited to work out (who am I???) There's always something new to try, and old favorites that stay (TRX, I'm talking about you, boo). And, excuse me, but the scenery couldn't be better. (beach session, anyone? You haven't boxed til you've boxed in the Pacific. Trust.) As an actor, I get high fives when I walk on set and can do a stunt with little to no assistance from the stunt department, and that's a standing ovation to Aaron and his work. As a young woman, I feel confident walking down the street by myself (I DARE you to test my right hook. Dare you. Perfect form, by the way; thanks, Aaron). I had no idea that two years ago when I chose Aaron as a physical trainer, I was also gaining a friend and confidant (the amount of crap this man has heard about my life, you have no idea...some people blare rap or heavy metal to get the last set of reps done...I run my mouth. You do what you gotta do, friends). Aaron is the chillest, funniest, and most knowledgeable goob you could get for a trainer. Guy knows his stuff. Boxing, kickboxing, MMA, strength training, nutrition...he really is an expert in all of it. I've already sent all my friends to him, so now I'm doing the equivalent of that on the Internet. Yelp friends, I often drive from the valley to the westside just to train with this man. Doesn't that tell you enough?! He's a pro. You can't get better than Swenson. read more

I used to be a member of a gym where Aaron coached in chicago and he was the only trainer I would go to. He's great at gauging your personality and knowing when to push you and when to leave you be (I can't stand trainers who critcize you loudly in front of everyone or, even worse, are super peppy and obnoxiously encouraging). No matter what level of boxing you're on-Aaron is your man. read more

Great coach/teacher. Mad a fat unathletic slow guy like me a little less fat, slow, and unatchletic in the ring. Enough to get a few Ws in charity boxing matches. read more

Aaron Swenson is an incredible trainer, coach and human being! My mom started training with him a few years, followed by my sister and finally me. Aaron got me in the best shape of my life! When I first started I was worried that it would be out of my league and make me feel ridiculous. However, Aaron made me feel so comfortable and was patient and broke it down for me in steps i could understand. I fell in love right away. He is the best trainer I have ever had and when he left for LA, I cried not only because he is amazing at what he does but he is an incredible human being. My whole family has fallen in love with the art of Muy Thai because of his patience, love and dedication to the sport. I don't think I can recommend Aaron enough. You won't regret it! read more

Want to learn the true art of boxing/kickboxing/Muaythai? Mr. Swenson is your man! Stand up dude with tons of knowledge!

By the luck of the universe I crossed paths with Aaron Swenson & his training skills about 8 years ago. He exposed me to a world I never knew, and empowered me in a way I will never be able to explain in mere words and do proper justice. I've trained with several other people since Aaron, and no one holds a candle to him. He's not a fighter who trains for extra money. He's a TRAINER. He taught me proper form, and allowed me to choose what to do with the skills, and was completely supportive. Whether you want to compete, get in better shape, or just feel the power from within you - he rocks it hard. read more
