I don't know how to thank a place for what this one did for me, but I'm going to try. When I first came to Dynamix, I was struggling. Not with the sport. With myself. There were days I couldn't get myself to come at all. I was carrying things I didn't have words for yet. But every time I made it through the door, it felt like people were genuinely glad I was there. The coaches and the students both. They kept reminding me that I was here to learn and grow, and that was enough. That's what brought me back on the days I almost didn't come. People look at me and see a big, strong guy. For most of my life I felt small and scared, and I didn't even know it. This gym is where I finally saw that, and where I started to change it. Anthony's classes mean a lot to me. He teaches the philosophy behind the fighting, and it connects the dots to real life. It made me better on the mat and better off it. The strangest gift is this: knowing I can protect myself has made me gentler, not harder. I feel powerful in public now, like a quiet secret. But I also feel responsible, and I've never once needed to use it. Before, I was afraid and never wanted to hurt anyone. Now I'm capable, and I still never want to hurt anyone. That's a peace I didn't know was possible, and I'm eternally grateful for it. Dynamix became a sacred, safe place for me to heal and grow as a man. If you're reading this and something is holding you back, please keep pushing. Keep showing up. It's worth it, and it's worth it here. read more

Dynamics MMA has truly become my second home. I've been training there for a year, and I've grown tremendously--both technically and mentally. The instructors--Jordan, Sean, Kevin,Gustavo and Antoni--are incredibly talented and passionate teachers. They've not only sharpened my skills in jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, and MMA, but they've also helped me develop my mindset. The community is equally amazing--everyone, from the blue and purple belts to all the experienced folks, are welcoming and humble. I go three to four times a week and can't get enough. I'm in the best shape of my life, and I know I'll be a lifelong member! read more

I trained at Dynamix for a year and a half and had an incredible experience. The community is welcoming and the coaches are excellent. I trained primarily with Sean and Jordan, and I learned so much from both of them. I can't recommend this gym enough to anyone interested in kickboxing, BJJ, or MMA. read more

Went in for my first class at Dynamix MMA with Coach Sean and Coach Antoni and had an amazing class. First rate teachers and students helped me begin to build an excellent foundation for future classes. The way the other attendees looked out for each other and helped a first timer like me encourages me to keep coming back. I feel lucky to have found such a great group. Shot out to Dynamix for doing it the right way. read more

Best MMA gym in California. Training with Antoni has not only been a pleasure and an unforgettable experience but he really is turning me into a human weapon! Jordan and Sean Crenshaw are also fighting machines and have helped me polish up on my kicks and defense tremendously. I am a regular there and I am gonna convince the whole world to train here if I can. Also, one advice is always be humble and openly willing to learn. You will never make it to next level if you have a know it all attitude. This is real fighting training not some Box n Burn or Mc Karate dojo. We actually spar in order to improve and the intensity varies with experience level. Start slow becomes sometimes slow is the fastest way to learn. read more

I have been working with the coaches on my MMA skills for around two years. This has been one of the best experiences I have had in LA. The instructors are highly skilled, open to questions and very resourceful. They provide great insight on the weaknesses or gaps that I have during training which really helps provide some feedback to where I should improve. The gym provides kickboxing, jiu-jitsu (gi/no-gi), wrestling and MMA classes. All of these classes are totally worth it. Each and every class has an objective in mind where we go over the fundamentals of each and every move to a point where you actually see improvement in your skills over time. I couldn't have asked for a better gym and amazing instructors. Dynamix MMA has really helped improve my health and well-being. Oss! read more

Dynamix MMA - Gym - Kickboxing Near Me - Los Angeles, California

I got in shape working out there and practicing some great drills. The young coaches show very high degree of knowledge and skills.

Max B Home away from home for me. I don't go on yelp much so I don't know if people can see but this is my first yelp review ever. Been training here for a couple of years, been to other gyms too, a couple in LA and a couple back in South FL where I'm from. The gym/owner recently helped me with a personal problem so I figured the least I could do is let people know about the place. They helped me because "you're part of the family" - their words. Coaches are all extremely skilled and knowledgeable, and even more then that (to me), they're ALWAYS willing to help you with any trouble you're having. Both during the drilling (class), and before/after class. Make no mistake about it, if you come to this gym, you're going to learn how to fight. Once again though, that feeling of community/being part of a team/being part of a family is something you don't find to this level at other gyms. Doesn't matter if its your first day and you've never trained before, every single person will look to help you, because when it was THEIR first day/week/month, that's what was done for them. Thank you to the coaches, all my teammates, and everyone else. read more

I signed up in early October. I did some kickboxing and boxing (and some other martial arts) abiut 25 years ago, but had done nothing since. I have gotten old and out of shape (unless you count a sphere as a shape). I was terrified to take my first class. Everyone in the pictures and in the classes I had seen look like Greek gods compared to me. I couldn't do half the things even I knew about and I was certain I was going to be the worst student Dynamix had ever seen. I took a Monday class, taught by a guy who was fighting in a UFC card the next week. There was a guy there for the class who had to be 6 foot 4 and was chilesed from granite. I thought for sure I had bit off more than I could chew. Then, so one came up to me and intoduced himself and told me "just do what you can do". Then another, and another. When the class started, the instructor said it, too. People were so nice and everyone understood not everyone can do it all. As I started to feel at home, I felt a bit more comfortable. Over the last few weeks, I extended myself and no one ever made me feel bad or "less than" for not being able to do it all (and all right). If the drill was too much, I did what I could. If I was too tired to spar a round a round, I sat out. Every instructor and every classmate made no issues about, and all of them wanted to help me do what I could. After a few classes, I met Antoni (Hardonk). It is his gym and I am confident you'll never meet a nicer guy who could knock you into next week. He smiles, laughs, makes jokes and teaches you things you never knew about Kickboxing and MMA, all while making your sweat enjoyable. Special call outs to Jordan, Sean and Crystal as well, who make the gym feel like a home, not just a physical classroom. It has been 2 month now. I am down 47 lbs (not all in just that time) and I have some medical conditions under much better control. And it isn't just physical. I have made tons of new friends and personally, I am more analytical and patient than I was before (when you are older and slower you learn to wait for your opportunities when sparring with the aforementioned Greek Gods). I am a better man for having joined Dynamix. It has truly changed my life. read more

This is a top class gym known by martial artists across the country. All the instructors take their time making sure every student is understanding the techniques behind everything we learn. I've been here for almost 2 years and have built great relationships with students and instructors in the gym. Signing up is easy and the contract is simple to understand! My only regret is not signing up sooner. read more

Dynamix MMA - Gym - Kickboxing Near Me - Los Angeles, California

I've been training BJJ here since late 2018-after a very long layoff. Coach Gustavo and Coach Ed made me feel welcome right away, as did all of my training partners. It can be intimidating walking into a fight gym! And, there's always the concern somebody there is waiting to smash the fresh meat walking through the door. That's never been my experience at Dynamix. The coaching staff is top notch--several have competed at the highest levels (UFC, Pan Ams, Worlds) and yet the most impressive accomplishment is the tone they've established. Everyone at Dynamix is supportive regardless if you are hobbyist or competitor. Egos are left at the door and while we roll hard at times, it always feels safe and respectful. I couldn't be happier with the mixed martial arts classes my 16-year-old has been attending. One of the standout features of this place is the ability to learn a wide range of fighting and martial arts styles all under one roof. From Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to Muay Thai and everything in between, the variety of classes offered here is truly impressive. It's been amazing to see my child develop a well-rounded skill set in martial arts while exploring various disciplines. The professionalism of the instructors is top-notch. They not only possess incredible knowledge and experience but also have a genuine passion for what they do. Their dedication and enthusiasm for martial arts are infectious, and it's evident that they truly care about their students' progress. They make sure to create a welcoming and supportive environment where my child feels comfortable to learn and grow. What sets this place apart is the involvement of former UFC professional fighters. The insights and guidance they provide are invaluable, and it's inspiring for my teenager to learn from individuals who have reached the highest levels of the sport. Moreover, I appreciate that they offer classes tailored to different age groups, including kids, young adults, and older practitioners. It ensures that each student receives the appropriate level of instruction and attention, making it a fantastic place for martial arts enthusiasts of all ages. Overall, I couldn't ask for a better martial arts academy for my child's growth and development in this discipline. ... and the first class is free how can you go wrong. read more

Wow!! I love This place. I was intimated initially( I never did martial arts) but instantly I was made to feel comfortable. All the teachers are incredible. . Antoni is an amazing owner and world champion who takes the time to teach and encourage . Audrey stands in her own category as both a teacher and fighter. She inspires me. Steve is awesome too! YOU MUST COME HERE. This is for anyone looking to get into shape and learn/master self defense. As a woman these classes are making me more confident and stronger physically and emotionally. I did a trial jiu jitsu class with Henry and absolutely loved his class. It's tough out there as a rookie female but Dynamix makes it ok. My first time experience was super smooth - parking was easy, I was welcomed at the front, bathroom/changing rooms were easy. The class level seemed mixed so as a beginner it was a little intimidating, but Henry makes everyone feel super welcome. read more

I have been training in mixed martial arts (boxing, kickboxing, karate, and more) for more than 40 years. LA is the Mecca for fighting gyms and throughout my years I have had the privilege to train, both individually and in group formats, at 20+ of LA's great gyms - from the Valley to the city. At most of these gyms I have had a good experience and made many friends along the way. With that said, I have not had a better experience than my 10 years of training at Dynamix MMA. Antoni Hardonk has put together an amazing team of trainers, many of which are current or former professional fighters. While a group of professional fighters may sound intimidating, what has stood out to me the most during my time at Dynamix is how friendly, patient, and helpful each and every one of the coaches are. These people truly have the best interest of the students in mind and can help to make you not only a better fighter, but also a more disciplined, focused, and relaxed person - from beginners to professionals. If you're thinking about trying out any type of martial arts for the first time or the 500th time, Dynamix is where you should go. You will be happy you did. read more

I've been training here for 3 years, and Dynamix is truly special among martial arts and MMA gyms. It has built a community that supports students with any combination of goals: from people looking for fitness, self defense, or a strong community, to amateur and professional fighters striving for the highest levels of combat sports. The instructors are skilled (including former UFC fighters and world champions), supportive, and take pride in their craft, and so are my training partners. Anyone who is remotely curious about kickboxing, jiu jitsu, or MMA should come and try a class! You won't be disappointed. read more

There are different and plenty of martial arts schools especially in Southern California. Dynamix is unique in that they teach you real fighting skills that you can utilize on the street. You have access to the most elite kickboxing. The system was developed by Antoni Hardonk, a UFC & K-1 veteran who built his reputation on devastating leg kicks. You also have access to elite wrestling. Again, a legend in the wrestling arena, Vladimir Matyushenko. Vladimir is also a Ufc veteran. Both of them have expertise in mixed martial arts and their styles overlap each other to create a fighter out of anyone. They build you up gradually and before you realize it, you know that you are a very dangerous opponent to any one that wants to hurt you on the street or bully you in real life situations. Combine that with some excellent Jitsu teachers and you have the whole package. The great thing about Dynamix is that it feels more like a tribe led by Antoni and his style of leadership builds you up, not tears you down. If you are thinking about training in the martial arts arena or any self defense program, do yourself a favor and go to Dynamix. They are simply the best! Amjad, student since 2013. read more

This review is long overdue. I trained there for about 3-4 years before I moved to Orange County, and couldn't keep up the commute and work schedule. First off, I have been doing martial arts since 2006, and this is by far the best gym I have trained at. If you are just looking to get in shape and learn a little self defense or training for a UFC title fight this is the place for you and everyone in between. I came in a grappler who knew how to strike and left a complete MMA fighter. My striking technique was very effective against all types, and in fact I was asked to help striking coaches at various gyms because of my technique. I had a wrestling base, but training with Vlad took it to the next level, and there are so many talented jujitsu specialist to roll with. This place pushed you hard, but not to the point where break. They spar hard but they dont knock each other out. The system of teaching is very structured and the warm ups condition the body to move how you need to strike and fight effectively. 11/10 recommend if you are just starting off or looking level your game up, this is the spot. Only thing I would change about the gym, is moving it to Newport Beach lol read more

I love training at Dynamix. I have never trained Brazilian Jiujitsu before but Henry makes it very easy to understand and you'll be surprised how quickly you pick it up with just a little consistency. He's a fantastic teacher. Antoni is amazing too. He's the kickboxing instructor and just an overall amazing teacher and person. He could probably break you with his little finger but he's the most gentle teacher you'll ever meet. Very supportive and fun. I love training with him. But best of all are all the students that train at Dynamix. Very supportive and no egos. Josh is very good about seeding out the bad apples so the atmosphere is consistently positive. For a gay dude, like myself, MMA can be an intimidating sport at first because of the homophobic connotations. Let me guarantee you: this is not the case at this gym. Everyone is welcome at Dynamix! Just be respectful to others and you'll fit right in. If you've ever thought about training MMA but have been intimated for whatever reason Dynamix is the place for you. I can't imagine a more welcoming training atmosphere than Dynamic and I can't recommend it highly enough. Come roll with us! read more

I have never written bad review on yelp but I wanna share my terrible experience with this training center just to warn you. In summer, I paid my first month training fee and initiation fee. However, I had to move to a different place for work so I couldn't train in west LA anymore. I contacted them to ask for a refund because my training never started at the time I called them and I had never taken a single class. The management had a very bad attitude and refused to refund me even though the training had never started. One of the staff members( I don't wanna mention her name) also threatened and yelled at me at the phone making me feel, " Are they running a mafia business?" She said she couldn't refund me because she didn't have the power and the owner was away and nobody could contact the owner. It made me doubt if the owner even existed? I couldn't argue at the time because she literally scared me with her terrible demeaner. The conversation that I had with her haunted me like a nightmare. After a few months, I decided to reach out again to see if I can join the training because I couldn't get my money back. I wrote in the email that I hoped to join the location that I didn't have to encounter this scary staff member because I had tremendous fear. I worry about she'd threaten me again. But they never tried to resolve the issue and there's never even an apology or any explanation. I don't think I can train in an unsafe environment and face the risk of being insulted. Again, I still can't get my money back. And during this process, there's no one tried to help me sort through the problem. read more

With access to so much high-level talent in the Los Angeles area, it's an extraordinarily competitive region for BJJ and MMA gyms. However, Dynamix is hands down the best. Regardless of the type of instruction you're looking for whether it be MMA, BJJ, Wrestling, or Dutch Kickboxing you will have access to coaches that have a track record of personal success in the UFC. This includes Antoni Hardonk, Henry Akins, Vladimir Matyushenko, and others. And if you're brand new to martial arts that's actually even more of a reason to start training here. You might as well get off on the right foot and learn things the right way instead of receiving inferior instruction and having to undo bad habits in the future. OSS! read more

For me, this is clearly the BEST place to train in Southern California, and I've been training here for 1 year now. (I have previously trained Martial Arts at various locations around LA/ So Cal. This is not my first school by any means.) Top 3 Reasons why I love training at DYNAMIX: 1. Incredible EXPERTISE & ACCOMPLISHED Teachers/Coaches. Antoni Hardonk, UFC & K1 veteran, teaches "Dutch Kickboxing" which blends elements of everything from the striking arts such as Muay Thai, to Western Boxing, to Kyokushin Karate. Henry Akins, a Rickson Gracie black belt, teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He is one of 10 men to ever receive that honor from Rickson. 2. RESPECTFUL CULTURE. In other words, no "Meatheads" with gigantic egos ready to tear your shoulder out. Maybe you're a beginner, or perhaps you're a working professional like me. I have fellow students, from writers to Lawyers, who just wants a great workout. At Dynamix, everyone will be respectful of that, as the instructors will throw out anyone otherwise. You'll quickly find there are a lot of gyms in Southern -Cal where a meathead who wasn't loved as a child will rough you up to show you who is boss. Supportive people make for a better training environment. 3. Great instruction SUITED FOR ALL LEVELS. As mentioned above, you may be an office worker/weekend warrior, OR you may be someone who aspires to be a pro fighter. There exists adequate training for all levels. Over the past year, I've seen UFC & pro fighters, such as Rhonda Rousy (current female Champ) , and Vladimir Matyushenko (longtime UFC fighter) training at this gym with other pros. Over the past month, current well known UFC heavy weight, Stefan "Skyscraper" Struve has been training here getting ready for his next bout. If you have higher aspirations, there is also suitable training for you. On the other hand, in the regular classes, there are both males and females of various ages. (Yes, WOMEN are welcome here too, and treated respectfully.) I've invited female friends to try a class and they've loved it. I believe if you're going to do something in life, why not do it right?? Unless you move to Amsterdam, you'd have a difficult time learning the technical aspects of Dutch kickboxing that Antoni Hardonk teaches. Having ferociously battled K1 legends such as Remy Bonjasky and Badr Hari, as well as mixing it up in the Octagon with guys like Frank Mir, Antoni Hardonk has a pretty good idea of what works and what does not, both in the ring and in the street. The classes start with an active warm-up that is rather intense. We then transition into drills, many of which I've never seen elsewhere. Unlike most gyms, you won't be punching at ghosts in the air, heavy bags, or stationary people lazily holding pads while daydreaming about the next episode of American Idol. The drills are active and focus on distance/timing, footwork, counters, pacing, clinch, and much more...... Once the kickboxing starts, you'll get a fantastic workout without being degraded to doing sit-ups, jumping jacks or Zumba in between kickboxing drills. Light fun sparring follows at the end of each class for those who are interested. I am new to the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program here but I already love the "Invisible Jiu Jitsu" that Henry teaches, focusing on leverage and feeling the pressure. Also, Henry will train/Roll and personally work with every single student regardless of whether you're a white belt or seasoned black belt. This is key, because in my experience at other BJJ gyms, the head instructor will never "Roll" with you personally, ever. Other intangible benefits to consider At Dynamix: - Shower: Yes, there is a shower in the facility. - Free Parking in the shopping center. - No funny business with your money or mine. I can say that they've been honorable and fair with my money here for the past year. Fair balance: The only drawback for some might people might be that the Jiu Jitsu program is more geared towards MMA, at the moment. That means: Although there are both "No-gi" classes offered as well as classes with the gi (traditional uniform.); the no-gi classes have more time slots. This much I know: If I do a Google search right now for Martial Arts & MMA in So Cal, I'll easily be overwhelmed with 50 choices of schools. However, after weeding out the schools with mediocre instruction, the meatheads ready to tear my shoulder out, disrespectful attitudes, and ones who have unscrupulous business practices with my money, there are probably only 5 worthy schools. DYNAMIX IS ONE OF THEM. Lastly, in case you're wondering, I don't work for this gym, and if you mention my name, you'll definitely get 0% discount. I just love training here, and want to spread the word about a good thing I've found. Don't take my word for it. Come to the academy & find out for yourself. Final Verdict: 5 Stars. Best Place to train Martial Arts in Southern CA read more

Been training here for about a year and a half so I feel like I can write an honest review. I'm not gonna bother writing about the "amazing" instructors, the zero "egos," the amount of "sweating" that occurs here, nor the "welcoming" atmosphere of all the "awesome" members. I'm not here to sound like a broken record. Instead, I just want to talk about how much I hate missing or skipping a class. Missing one class might be an extra punch to the face or getting swept. Missing a couple classes might result in you being a victim to a slick combo or a new submission from some ungodly position. Take a week or more off, and you'll hate these "awesome" and "friendly" members because they'll continue to improve while you're too busy doing what you do. Whether you want to get into shape, learn/sharpen your skills or get away from the stresses of life, Dynamix is the place to be. ---NOTICE TO READER: The information contained in this review is not intended for assholes. If you are an asshole, you are prohibited from attending this gym. If you have read this review in error, please notify Josh at Dynamix so he can schedule you a "private" lesson with Antoni and his tree trunk legs. Thank you. read more

I had been training Jiu Jitsu off and on for 4 years. Meeting Henry Akins has been an eye opening experience. Seriously, it's ridiculous how much I didn't learn until now. If you want a belt to have a belt go train anywhere. If you want to be the best, train with Henry. Just take one free class.... You'll see for yourself. As for training partners, there are some great guys to train with. As the only girl in class, it's nice to know I can trust they aren't going to try to kill me.....although they do put pressure on me so I can learn :) Do it!!!! UPDATE! I took a couple months off for a busy semester and came back to a handful of ladies! Just thought for you females out there looking for some super cool ladies to roll with, now you will have em! Even newer update!! 1-27-15 Kickboxing and wrestling! I decided to try the kickboxing classes. I have been training for a few months now and am hooked! The instruction is awesome! Antoni Hardonk treats everyone with respect, regardless of skill level. Morning classes are offered and the gym has showers, so you can go before work! If I had more time I would be there every day. It's so much fun and a great way to get in/stay in shape. It is also great stress relief. Beside the fitness benefits, it builds confidence. AJ, Kate and Vidush are all great instructors as well. No matter when you show up, you will have a great time! (And there are several females training in KB now, so you don't have to worry if you are small like me). The wrestling class is amazing! It is also brutal and you will sweat (and be really really sore after); but it's a great way to tie the kickboxing and BJJ together. Vlad is very skilled in this sport as well as teaching. I was intimidated to take the class, but Vlad immediately welcomed me into the class and made sure to pair me with someone that would be a good fit for me. Training in all three has built my confidence. I started training martial arts years ago to feel safe. I finally do! I tried other arts and other gyms, but this is the first place that has made me well rounded and taught techniques that actually work in competition as well as the streets. read more

Dynamix MMA is the real deal...I just moved from NYC in July and I wanted to check out the Kickboxing class to hone my skills (TKD & Karate) and get in great shape. As a minister (yes a minister!) with two young kids and a hectic schedule, the only time I have is early in the morning. The 7-8:15am class on MWF is awesome! AJ does a great job making you sweat without missing a step on helping you with technique. I've lost 12 pounds in a month! There's no ego, just results. Check it out! read more

Loved this place. The 7AM kickboxing classes with AJ were a blast. He was awesome and wouldn't be afraid to correct you for any mistakes and made sure to emphasize form. People were friendly and sparring was at a perfect pace for a newcomer. Only downside is that cancellation of my membership was very difficult, I had to email several times and still they didn't cancel (I moved out of town). Had to end up cancelling the card that was attached to the account... Love the coaches however! read more

There is a reason why Dynamix has so many glowing reviews. It really is that great. First of all, the instructors - two former UFC fighters and a Rickson Gracie black belt. As far as I know, there isn't a better instructor lineup in the greater Los Angeles area. But how is the instruction? As solid as an instructor's credentials may be, that doesn't always make him a great teacher. Well, not only are Antoni, Vlad, and Henry amazing practitioners of their respective arts, they are also highly effective instructors. The emphasis is on meticulous basics, and each lesson, whether it is grappling or striking, is broken down in a natural and logical progression. The "why" is clearly explained along with the "how". The other great thing about the instruction is that you are given a forum to practically apply the techniques that you are taught in the sparring and rolling sessions of the classes. The repetition and clarity of the training drills are so effective that you will surprise yourself by naturally using techniques that you just learned. And you will solidify your understanding of the techniques by applying them against your training partner in a safe sparring environment. You will literally feel yourself improving from class to class. Which brings me to my next point - the training partners. The guys here are great. When you look at the instructor lineup and some of the very tough amateur and professional fighters who train here, you might be intimidated. No need. No one at Dynamix is trying to smash you or embarrass you. It's not part of the culture of the gym. Everyone here is supportive and friendly. Will you get some bumps and bruises? Sure. We're not playing badminton, here. But you won't get whiplash because some meathead was having a bad day. And, lastly - results. If you are rigorous in your attendance and practice, you will get in better shape and learn to fight. I've learned more about *how to actually fight* at Dynamix in six months than I did in years at another school. My only regret about Dynamix is that it wasn't around earlier! And on top of that, they are 100% upfront and honest about their membership fees and contracts. Talk to Josh at the front desk and he will take care of you. I can't recommend this gym highly enough. Give the free lesson a try and see what you think! read more

At first I was so nervous about joining an MMA gym, as I thought it was totally a "man's world" where a 5'4" girl like myself would never fit in. Having had martial arts experience in the past, I wanted to give kickboxing a try. Now I wish I had known about Dynamix sooner and had started training a long time ago! I couldn't be happier with this place. Here are the reasons why I love Dynamix: 1) Antoni is an amazing teacher who not only challenges you, but also encourages you and recognizes your strengths and progress. 2)The people who train here are some of the friendliest, and they genuinely care about helping the new people learn all the techniques and applications. 3)This gym will work you OUT!! You won't be taking some "cardio kickbox" class. It's serious training for people serious about their fitness and skills. 4)Plenty of parking and spacious facility. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to hone their skills further, or just be challenged with a sport they've never tried before. read more

Dynamix is by far THE BEST place with THE BEST people! I started kickboxing and now became a passion to me. This coming from a girl that has always been involved with dance training and was really scared of the punching and kicking! It's not only an amazing training for you to channel your energy, build resistance and work out. It's like it strengthen your core, it gives you more focus and it really makes a big impact towards your whole life. For the best possible way. This is a very special place for me. Antony, the teacher and one of the owners of Dynamix is not only an amazing fighter with an outstanding curriculum but he is an incredible leader. He put together an amazing team to train with the best teachers. They respect your own limitations and fears, but at the same time they encourage you in a very friendly way to go further and push your limits, to start trying lightly to face these fears and they are there to support you. They are very knowledgeable on the techniques and they really care about each individual student. The philosophy of the academy is amazing, where it is emphasized the mutual respect towards one another, communication openness and community spirit. Specially being a woman, it is not a place that you get scared while training, quite the opposite - The team is so welcoming and everyone wants to help you develop. For the girls: Even if you start just because you want to do some exercise/cardio (and believe me, this part you will have it SUPER GREAT), or for whatever reason it doesn't matter - You will fall in love with the training and you will get addicted to it - Don't be afraid, the team will be there for you every step of the way, and you will have lots of fun while training. Plus, of course, its going to build in you a great sense of self defense like nothing compared to. It's really worth it to give it a try and you will know what I am talking about :) read more

I am a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). I drive from Huntington Beach to train with Henry Akins. He is hands down one of the best Jiu Jitsu instructors in the world. His style of teaching comes from the originators of BJJ the Gracie Family. Henry actually got his black belt from Rickson Gracie. The man considered to be the best Jiu Jitsu practitioner ever. This is why i drive over an hour to learn from him. The Jiu Jitsu taught here is the best. They teach for MMA, Self Defense, and Competition. They have traditional gi classes, No Gi classes and MMA. MMA is also taught my UFC veteran Antoni Hardonk who is a legendary K1 dutch kick boxer. I have trained all over the world for the last 20 years and if you are lucky enough to live in driving distance from this place you should go. Other places might have more trophies in the windows but i promise the instruction is not near as good. These guys are just more humble. BTW they offer some free classes so you have nothing to loose. read more

This is a great place to train. I've tried a few BJJ schools in LA and this is the one I stayed at. Henry's BJJ style is very technical with an emphasis on doing the basics correctly, as opposed to the fancy techniques which are much harder to pull off. He teaches techniques in groups so they are always connected, based on the position and the opponent's reaction. I've taken former UFC fighter Vladamir Matyushenko's wresting class which is also very good. The classes are intense but the instructors are very safety conscious; there is always a solid warmup and there is an emphasis on avoiding injury. The people who train there just want to learn; there isn't a lot of ego here. The mats are clean and there is always drinking water available which you will definitely need! Another thing I like is the classes are 1 hour 15 minutes - that extra time is great because 1 hour is a bit too short for a martial arts class - you get extra drilling and grappling time. read more

You cannot find better instruction. Antoni Hardonk brings his experience from the Vos Gym in Holland. Henry Akins is a Rickson Gracie blackbelt. Vladimir Matyushenko is a Nationally decorated Russian wrestler. If you want a complete game Dynamix is the place to train. The atmosphere is friendly, which is unlike many of the gyms I have trained at. There is very little ego at Dynamix which is what plagues many gyms. The instructors have created a team atmosphere which accelerates everyone's progress. I cannot imagine training anywhere else. read more

A really great place to train. The instructors are phenomenal! Henry Akins is a Rickson Gracie black belt and his instruction is so clear. Being new to BJJ I have had an easy time getting what Henry teaches, not that I pull it off, but his communication of the art is easy to understand. Henry is also just an all around good guy, good guy to chat with, be taught by and occasionally roll with (until he suffocates you in side control). The atmosphere is great, the ego is very low, my training partners have become friends. I have yet to take Antoni Hardonk or Vladimir Matyushenko's class but have interacted with both guys and they are about as nice as you can get. If you are thinking of taking up BJJ, Kickboxing or Wrestling do not hesitate to come by here, you will not be disappointed. read more
