TLDR: Love the gym, coaches, staff, & community. 10/10. I walked into Prevail in 2017, and 9 years (and 1,324 classes as of this morning) later, I'm still showing up. I am leaving Los Angeles for the UK next spring, and honestly, one of the biggest things I am going to miss is coming to Prevail. Second might be a proper breakfast burrito and taco trucks, but first is definitely Prevail. Prevail is a great way to start your day, or end it if it's been a particularly stressful one. Before class, you're chatting with the friends you've made, and after class begins you're only thinking about the minute you are in. Anything you were worried about disappears because you can only focus on the present. And when things finally start to click for you on a specific punch, counter, defense, or footwork move... Or when you used to grab your knees desperate for air but now you can knock out 20 burpees in a minute... That's the dopamine hit you're looking for. VIBES Prevail is great for first-timers or returning champions. The front desk staff always welcomes you when you walk in, and if you're new, they will get you set-up and make sure you're not just tossed into the deep end. The coaches all have their unique style, but they always bring fun, energy, and experience to every class. They're never impatient with you if you're not doing something quite right, or aggressively shouting at you to do more. There has never been a coach I have not liked, or more accurately, I love 'em all. ;-) The community of members is a wide range of ages, fitness levels, and boxing experience. But aside from all that, it's basically a big group of cool folks. And there's definitely no toxic bro vibe. No one is judging what you can or can't do. Everyone is super supportive of each other. I've actually made quite a few friends that I've seen outside of class. (Or in typical LA fashion, we've exchanged numbers with the intent to hang out but then never do. But that's on us, not the gym. ) CLASSES SWEAT classes focus on pushing you physically (it's called "SWEAT" for a reason) but also give you a chance to work combinations on the heavy bag and mitt work with the coaches (and sometimes other gym members will jump in and mitt so everyone gets more mitt time). And the coaches are always trying to find ways to keep the classes fresh since it would be easy to just put them on auto-pilot. BOX classes have a mix of technique and fitness with a focus on fundamentals. There is a big picture intention behind the structure and path of the classes that goes beyond a single day class. That said, you can show up on any day to get to work without having been to any of the previous classes. BOX classes definitely give you the opportunity to elevate your skill level. SPAR is where you can truly work on your technique, but you will also be working hard. You will need headgear, cup, and mouthpiece. I know some gyms are a free-for-all, but Prevail fosters a collaborative and safer vibe. The coaches will tell you that you are not trying to win a fight or hurt your partner. You are both trying to get better. They will also remind you that it is up to you to communicate with your partner on the intensity you want to work at. ***** If you're looking for a new way to get in shape, build confidence, and make friends while you do it, come check out Prevail. Been with Prevail for a couple of years, and feel like they having been my saving grace. Literally brings my mind back to peace when I'm there, coaches always provide positive energy needed, great playlists and challenging workouts. Sweat classes are my favorite but recently started going to S&C for some toning and am really enjoying both. Also, do privates with Lolo and there is no one better, never thought I'd be able to box and even be somewhat ok at it but his expertise has made all the difference!! Who knew paying people to lovingly destroy your cardio could be this much fun? Came here to learn how to box, but stayed because the coaches refused to let me quit... YIKES! The coaches are knowledgeable, hilarious, incredibly encouraging... and frankly, they had no business being that attractive on top of everything else. Somehow the coaches make getting absolutely humbled feel motivating--and even fun. Vince is pure perfection. Every class is challenging, the energy is unmatched, and somehow they convince you that "one more round" isn't a personal attack. Five stars. My wife and I have been coming here for over a year and absolutely love it! There's a good mix of classes from boxing technique, to more of an aerobic/boxing class to weight lifting. All the coaches are fantastic including coach Letty, coach Josh, and coach Sean! They've also recently made improvements to limit the size of classes so they aren't too packed and we all get individualized attention. Great place to blow off some steam and get a killer workout in. Came here for a week and tried out each of their classes: leaner, faster, and stronger. Each one has a different focus but all of them follow a 6-station circuit where you'll be doing different exercises. I've taken a couple boxing classes before but I'd still consider myself a newbie. Luckily the staff were all super welcoming and were really good about giving me pointers to help with my form. Some logistics: Gloves and wraps are available for rent for $5 together. For your first class your rental is free. Also, there will be at least one person on hand to help you with wrapping before class. Lockers are available for you to put your stuff away. There are 2 bathrooms, but I'd recommend changing beforehand because things get pretty chaotic and packed between classes. Oh, and be prepared to sweat a lot! read more

Prevail Boxing is located in the heart of Los Angeles and is easy to find directly on Beverly Blvd. There is ample parking in the area. Prevail Boxing is an intimate gym. Somehow Prevail has managed to fuse the stylishness of Los Angeles with the ruggedness of a Chicago boxing gym. The gym is always spotless. There are lockers available to safely store your belongings. Prevail has all the workout equipment needed to work up a sweat, but it is not the hardware that drives this machine, but the software. Prevail's staff is second to none. The trainers are always prepared and present throughout the workouts. It was my esteemed privilege to be afforded the opportunity to work with Coach "Juice" Justin. Prevail allows U.S. Military Veterans to access workouts in their fine facility with their fantastic staff on Fridays. The last time I was so physically challenged was in basic training. Believe me when I say, there is nothing basic about training at Prevail Boxing. The workouts are intense, but weather you are a beginner or an advanced fighter you will be able to follow the instruction of the trainers and push yourself to the next level. This is a long-overdue review, but one thing you should know is that if you find yourself here - you will prevail. Most classes here are 45 minutes long (unless you do SuperSweat) and it will be the fastest, hardest, most productive 45 minutes in your day. Then, you can't help but want to come back and do it all over again. All the coaches are amazing and I appreciate that they get to know everyone. My friend (who goes to Prevail almost every single day) has been trying to get me to take a class for over a year! Finally, I signed up for my first class with Coaches KatieMichal and Aaron-Michael. Prevail Boxing can be a little tough to find -- it's a small building a bit tucked away next to a dog grooming store -- and I had to drive by a couple times before I actually saw it! Parking is available on 3rd St and the residential side streets, but be sure to look at the signs! The studio has an open front reception with a long built-in bench along the wall and lockers (you have to bring your own lock, though it is supervised by the front desk). The studio in the back looked like a warehouse with the garage door and the exposed brick. There's a bathroom but don't expect any luxury amenities like at Rumble or other boutique studios. The focus here is to become your best athletic self! I've done boxing classes before, but this was definitely the most intense boxing class I have ever done! It was a circuit-based with a mix of boxing on the bags & mitts as well as strength/conditioning (abs, pushups, squats, footwork drills). I liked the variety in the class, because it kept things fun & interesting throughout class. The coaches were both very encouraging and paid personal attention to each person regardless of experience level. They definitely focused a lot on proper boxing technique, which was great. Overall, I enjoyed my first class at Prevail. I truly felt like their mission is to train people to become well-rounded "athletes" with proper boxing technique rather than just doing another trendy workout!
