Training with Adam has been wonderful . I never thought I would have a trainer or could afford one . However ,like a lot of people I knew Adam from SHRED appp that I used and still use. I actually never thought in a million years I would see him in person at my gym, but there he was . He saw me using the app and came over and said hi. He told me he still trained at a gym under Sunset Towers and Sunset and offered a free couple sessions to help keep figure out my workout plan and path. I've been training with him for two years now and it's sometimes the singular thing I really can look forward To in a hard week . His app and his workouts are the best . I'm the leanest and strongest I've ever been and he has crafted me into my personal feminine ideal. I have my booty and my curves BUT not the unneeded body fat lol. Every session is different and we target different muscles and different ways to pinpoint them . He is very specific and detailed in my legs especially and knows every exercise in the world seemingly at this point . We laugh a lot and talk about just about anything - that helps me to be distracted through a lot of the strenuous stuff . I've trained with Adam for about seven years now and his app SHRED for two and a half lol. Not only has Adam changed my body he has changed my life . He has instilled a level of confidence, discipline and pride that I never had before and it bleeds into everything I do, relationships and especially my business.      In the first two years I lost 20 pounds and had my body fat percent down to a consistent 13-14 on a hydrostatic from a high of 26 percent . I started training with Adam 7 months ago after having my second kid. I was regularly practicing post natal pilates but at 8 months post partum, I needed a reset to feel like myself again. A friend recommended Adam, who was her personal trainer for years, and I haven't looked back! Adam is kind, funny, and smart. He is always encouraging me to try new exercises and to get out of my comfort zone. If something is too challenging, he'll say we'll try again in a few weeks as long as I keep up with the personal training sessions (2x a week) and home assignments. No machine or exercise is off limits. On days when I'm not at the gym, he'll text to see if I finished the day's workout -- usually from the SHRED app (which is great, btw) -- and how I'm eating. Being held accountable by Adam is definitely a motivator, not only because he'll make the next in person session really hard but also because he puts in an incredible amount of care and effort to create a training plan. He really just wants his clients to succeed and I appreciate that. The hour training sessions fly by, mostly because he's regaling me with life stories, skincare regimens, vocabulary definitions, or book recommendations. Aside from a challenging workout, the best part is the ten minutes of stretching at the end. Recovery is often forgotten but so important! I'm in better shape now than I was in my 20s (healthier nutrition, proper exercises for my body type), which I didn't think was a possibility after having two kids so thank you, Adam. Before March 2020, I had been a fairly regular gym goer, though my workouts were decent. At the time, I thought I knew what I needed to know about working out, even though I had not hit my goals. Then the pandemic hit. Then I had my first kid. 3 years later, I was completely out of shape, tired, and the heaviest I had ever weighed. I've been one of Adams clients for about a year now and can attest that he is, in the truest sense, a "personal" trainer. He is an incredible human. I turned 50 two years ago, but I still enjoy the occasional pool party in Vegas or Hollywood. It's really easy for me to say that working with Adam was one of the best decisions I've ever made. At first, I was just looking for a personal trainer to help me lose fat and build muscle. I used to be an athlete, but as I've grown older, it's been harder and harder to find the time to dedicate to really taking care of myself. I hadn't been exercising nearly as much as I used to, or eating the rights kinds of foods ...I found that it was really starting to take a toll on my energy levels, sleep, etc. Fast forward to six months ago: I sought out Adam based on the reviews here...I needed someone who would hold me accountable, check in on me -- never let me slip. Thought it might be too good to be true, but over the course of the past six months, Adam has whipped me into the best shape of my life. I've trained with Adam for the past four years. I was grandfathered in through my girlfriend Katelyn. He set me up with a tight schedule and assignments for the days we don't train. About 4 months ago I messaged Adam as I was pretty fed up with the usual LA trainers. Most of them I have trained with are distracted, have no desire to coach on the process, and only offered support only a couple hours a week. I was looking for a trainer who could not only coach me in the gym two times a week, but offer support the other 5 days. That's the exact type of trainer Adam is. Over my life I've trained on and off with trainers in New York, London, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. Unfortunately, l had never seen results in the past. Adam is in a different league. Adam truly loves to train people. Every session he's charismatic, motivating, companionate, and sometimes (just sometimes) a little funny. As a late bloomer in the fitness world, I had to do my research and found Adam through his stellar reviews on Yelp. While usually I'm skeptical when there doesn't seem to be a dent in someone's business, I gave him a shot. And boy, has he delivered. Adam is one of a kind. He pushes me hard but somehow I enjoy every minute of it. His personality is so great -- I'm usually laughing whenever I'm not out of breath. He mixes things up so it never feels too routine or boring. I never know if I'm going to be doing heavy deadlifts, swinging battle ropes or doing TRX. And that's what keeps me coming back...and what keeps my body adapting. I've had trainers in the past that seem to just be going through the motions like they have a set pattern they do with all their clients. Adam has a specific plan for me and tailors things to my needs. I'm over 50 and need a bit more mobility work than younger clients, for example. Training with Adam was the very best surprise. I've done the Shred App for quite some time and have been its biggest promoter, it changed my life. I met Adam at retrofit and recognized him right away from the app. We chatted about it for a while and I told him about some of the stop I was interested and that I liked on the app. He made a comment that he had some flexibility to take on a client who was motivated and had the bandwith to pursue Training with him with his level of accountability. The first two months were intense well because I chose that option and asked for that level of accountability . I sent him food journals. I was given a six day a week workout program with two of those days with him. The program changed every week and used SHRED app to help me on my own. He monitored my progress. My body fat percent through hydro static testing, my muscle gains, my stamina and muscular enduranzce. Month 3-5 were easier, working out and communication with Adam became an afterthought. The workouts became something that I looked forward to more than almost anything, they became my active meditation, my outlet to my agree, my cathartic release of emotion. My body fat is now Under 10, I started at 22 . I have a girlfriend who I adore and am more confident in about everything I do. If it's training verse a trip , or training verse a car? Adam is the absolute best. He listens to your training goals and does a great job at creating dynamic and comprehensive workouts for his clients. Each session has new and different exercises and I'm always totally wrecked after! When we aren't training he provides detailed workouts via the Shred app which is easy to follow and really mixes up the workouts based on type (eg bulk, athlete). Adam Summer is not your conventional personal trainer. Does he know his way around a gym? Sure. If anything, I'd go as far to say that Adam is a God in the gym. His training methods are distinct and scientific which promotes a rapid yet natural physical transformation of ones body. After all, he did train Captain America. However, as with everything in life, so long as you're willing to commit and do the work (both in and out of the gym), you will see the results and achieve your goals. I've been working out with Adam for the past few months. All my life I've been active and working out on a fairly consistent basis. The past couple years though, my schedule got to be so much that my work outs became less and less consistent. I got to a place where I really needed some motivation and training to jump start me back into incorporating working out with my busy schedule. I've never had a trainer before, so I started to research different possibilities. I came across Adam, and decided I'd make the call and give it a try. I'm happy I did. Adam is extremely good at what he does and he's passionate about it as well. The motivation I receive from him not only comes from the workouts themselves, but on non training days too. What you get when you train with Adam is someone who checks in with you on most of your non training days to make sure that you are doing your part with eating right and working out on your own. That's huge. It felt like I wasn't doing all of this on my own. The good thing about Adam is that he does this because he really cares about seeing you transform not only on the outside, but on the inside as well. It's the belief that transforming your outside really does equate to a change in your perspective on everything in every day life in a positive way. The other thing I really like about Adam is that he has you do movements and exercises that are unique. I've been working out all my life, and half the stuff we do are things I've never done. I should start by saying that I went to Adam for a very different reason than he's probably used to. I didn't have any aesthetic or weight-loss goals; instead, I was looking for someone to help me build functional strength to work toward some athletic goals that I have (hand-balancing and aerial work) while also working on my flexibility. I knew I needed more guidance than I could afford to get in-person, so the fact that Adam would provide guidance for the rest of the week outside our sessions was a big factor in me reaching out to him. I will say that Adam and I couldn't have two more different personalities. He has a huge presence, both in and out of the gym. It took a while to get used to him calling and texting to check in about how things were going, and I'm sure he'd say I am terrible at communicating pretty much anything. Nevertheless, after some fine-tuning here and there, he got me on a routine that worked. At the end of the day, though, the results speak for themselves. After 9 months: I went from having to do some exercises (esp. upper body) with no weight at all to now working on unassisted push ups and pull-ups with some assistance, which will directly apply to the hand-balancing and aerial work I want to do. I'm close to lifting my bodyweight on a few of my lower body lifts despite never touching a barbell until this year. I could not jog more than 100 meters or so at a time (about half a block) without being completely winded, but I can now run a mile faster than when I was in high school and am working on my speed and endurance. I managed to lose about 15-18 lbs (from 123-125 down to 107-108) without really focusing on weight or body composition. Adam Summer is not like any other trainer I have worked with. Adam has become the one constant in my life everyday for the last 20 months. Since our first session he has listened to my struggles with working out and helped me to set goals to live healthier. He is informative with every exercise and patient with me until my form is perfect and I am comfortable throughout each set. He pushes me when I need it. I love when Adam checks in on me after our session to see how I'm feeling and what I have eaten to follow our workout. He holds me accountable. I had an awesome experience with Adam, I literally "googled excellent personal trainer West Hollywood" and his name popped up, he definitely lived up and went beyond my search request We worked out for almost 2 months and he was very motivating and positive yet firm and respectful with great direction. One year down baby!!! I made it, I did it, I won!! I promised myself I would do a year with Adam and see if I could make it, on his workout schedule , with his rules, following his nutrition plan etc. let me tell you it was an adjustment . I've worked out for ten years pretty consistently and I've pushed myself as hard as I could with the knowledge I had. I like to think of myself as a fitness junkie, done workouts from about every magazine and online source and really thought o was doing it right. I just wasn't getting any results, it's frustrating doing anything 1.5 hours a day , 6 days a week and not getting results. I'm 37, I should be at a point where I'm constantly improving , but instead I was finding myself plateauing. I found Adam on Yelp and he put me in a flexible time slot. He is busy but he found a way to make it work. He trained me twice a week and set up a plan on his digital platform for four days a week. It incorporated cardio too, and lots of high interval Training. I wanted to only gain lean muscle and to look lean the whole time. I didn't want to bulk and then spend the last few weeks before I wanted to be lean on a calorie deficit. We just worked out butts off together instead and I gained 13 lbs of muscle and body fat finally under 10 percent( 8.3!!) . I've trained with Adam since August 2016 and not once have I been bored or ever felt unchallenged. That's what I like the most about Adams technique is his constant creative workouts changing every time I go for a training session. Never underestimate what the session will be because it is Always unpredictable and a good intense workout with enough athleticism built in to customize each client's needs. I like the athletic aspect that Adam brings to the hour of training. Few trainers push their client in this way with balance and agility and fine tunes it. I never prioritized nutrition or fitness or dynamic and athletic training. I just did what I could when I had time. I was expecting him to be standoffish BUT when I reached out to him I had no idea he would change my life. In a matter of months I learned an arsenal of exercises to incorporate into my workouts. A plan was implement that involved a few days a week with him and eventually scaled down to only one day with him as I improved and could do more on my own. He taught me about nutrition and exercise methodology in a way that makes sense to a novice. He made me accountable to do my homework. He also introduced me to kettle bells, TRX, plyometrics, ViPR and everyday was different, keeping things fresh. I feel lucky he took me on and excited for it to continue. Beware, if you don't take training seriously, he will drop clients. I've trained with Adam for 1.5 years, and it has been probably the biggest single action I've ever taken for myself in my adult life, with the most attributable benefit. I've been pushed insanely hard, doubted myself over and over again, BUT never was allowed to quit. Adam's ability to assiduously push you within your own ability is incredible, you might not feel your moving forward every day, however you never take a step back. In the past year alone I've lost 10 percent body fat and an at 17 percent, which for a female is really low. I've put on lean muscle in all the right areas and have created a body which looks lean, healthy and active and not overbuilt. My favorite change has been obviously in my tummy area, which is now flat and hard. Additionally, Adam showed me how to work my butt and hamstrings without blowing up my thighs, so my ass really pops without my legs being huge. So how is this all possible? First and foremost Adam sets you up with a detailed training plan that covers your whole week, not just your days together. He owns a very successful new app called Shred which is an exact emulation of his training, which he uses to assign your gym and cardio homework. Adam also supervises my diet and made changes as we learned what did and did not work for my body. He makes me accountable and is not afraid to be in contact 7 days a week if that what it takes. This is my very first review I have written on Yelp, but I wanted to let everyone know about the knowledgeable and inspirational, Adam Summer. Three years ago, I was injured on the job. After 4 surgeries, the last being a total hip replacement, and two years of being disability I was finally "fixed". What I didn't know was that the hip replacement was just the beginning of a long road to full recovery. My muscles, endurance, and overall physical and mental health had atrophied while my weight ballooned 50+ pounds. I spent months working with several physical therapist who assisted in getting me back on my feet and walking without the assistance of a cane. However, the physical therapy was no were near the level of physical rehabilitation that I needed in order to ameliorate my dilapidated body. Adam Summer is the only reason I can say that today I am pain free, 30 pounds lighter, and happier than I have been in a long time. Adam is a hands-on, dynamic, and decidedly motivational exercise guru who has completely turned my life around. After merely 4 months with him, I have a new lease on life and I am well on my way to achieving the physique I had only dreamed about in my 20's. You should know that Adam will bother you. He will annoy you. He will frustrate you. He will text you incessantly asking about how your diet is for the day and about what exercise you accomplished on the days that you're not training with him. If he doesn't hear back, he keeps texting until he does. Are you eating enough? Are you eating too much? Are you eating the right thing? It's honestly, truly, the only way I have stayed on track the last 6 months. He takes the time to force me to be on track and is with me helping far beyond the couple of hours per week I'm in the gym with him. He's inspiring and motivating and incredibly dedicated and excited to help you reach your goals. He doesn't take any shit and works harder than you to make your workout productive and successful. 4 months ago I was in the worst shape I've ever been in so I decided to turn my life around and start going to the gym. After my first week in the gym I realized I was lost and didn't know what to do so I decided to hire a personal trainer. I figured If I hired a personal trainer I would learn what to do in the gym but realistically I got much, much more than that. Adam has provided me with unlimited knowledge in all aspects of my life. Yes, he's gotten me in the best shape I've ever been in, but he's also helped me set goals and build confidence that I never knew I had. At first I thought I was just going to see a personal trainer twice a week to get good workouts in but after our first session I realized I was getting much more then that. Adam is as much as a mentor to me as he is a trainer. He makes me want to be the best I can be. He has an incredible ability to read people and then relate to them on a personal level . He is always full of energy no matter the time of day, and his energy will rub off on you and get you excited to workout. If Adam decides to take you on as a client, you have to be fully committed to him because he is fully committed to you. He takes his job very seriously and disappointing him would be as bad as disappointing your self. If you do as you are instructed you'll be fine and see results faster then you could imagine. Just make sure you are serious about getting into shape before you start your journey. On a side note, When I'm not training with Adam I'm using his app that he is building and it is a game changer. It's basically a personal trainer in your pocket and it guides you through your workouts in the gym. I could write another 5 star review about the app but this review is about Adam. I just had to point out that he is so committed to getting people into shape that he is coming out with his own app and it's amazing.
