This place is amazing! Candy, sweets, drinks, chocolates and more. They have everything you could want. Mochi from Japan? Got it. Retro old school candies? Check. A wall of every jelly bean flavor? Yep. How can you go in there and not want every single item in your basket?

We actually ended up here completely by accident. We were driving around the area when my wife, who…read morewas born in Bavaria and is very unapologetically German, spotted the name and the building and immediately decided that we needed to stop. Apparently, whatever I had planned for the afternoon was no longer relevant. I can't really argue with the decision because this turned out to be such a fun and unique place. The first thing you notice is that this isn't just an ice cream shop. There are multiple rooms filled with candy, chocolates, treats and all sorts of things that make you want to slow down and look at everything. There is a slightly retro feel to the whole place, and I mean that in the best possible way. You can very easily lose track of time wandering from room to room, looking at the candy, checking out the chocolates and trying to decide what you absolutely need to take home. Then there is the ice cream. The sundaes are fantastic because you get to build your own and load them up with whatever toppings you want. And they aren't stingy with the toppings, either. The ice cream itself was delicious, with a great selection of flavors, and the whole experience of putting together your own sundae makes it especially fun if you're with kids. Although, judging by my wife's reaction, you don't actually have to be a kid to enjoy it. They also make their own ice cream and have a wide variety of candies and chocolates made in-house. You absolutely need to try some of the "in haus" chocolates while you're there. There is something particularly satisfying about buying something that was actually made right there rather than grabbing another generic packaged candy bar. The staff were incredibly friendly and added to the experience. Everyone seemed genuinely welcoming, which is important in a place like this because you want to be able to wander around, ask questions and take your time looking at everything. Nobody made us feel rushed, and there is so much to see that rushing would almost defeat the purpose. This is a great place for the entire family. Kids are going to love the candy and ice cream, adults will appreciate the nostalgic atmosphere and the homemade treats, and honestly, everyone is going to walk out with something they didn't intend to buy. We certainly did. My wife may have had something slightly different in mind when she decided we needed to stop here, but she walked out looking like a little kid who had just been turned loose in a candy store, carrying a sundae, candies and chocolates. I wasn't exactly empty-handed myself. A really fun and unexpected find in the Lakes Region. If you're anywhere around Lake Winnipesaukee, this is absolutely worth a stop. It's charming, a little nostalgic, completely indulgent and just plain fun. I can see why people consider it one of the area's best-kept candy secrets. We'll definitely be back.

The flavor options and pricing are at the cash register and you can't really see either from afar, which makes it feel rushed when you get to that point. The pricing I think is getting pretty high for what it is. They no longer scoop the ice cream in front of you - the ice cream is around the corner. When we got to the smorgasbord, the whipped cream wasn't working/was empty. The workers didn't seem to want to fix it, and once you leave the line you can't re-enter. Pretty disappointing to not be able to get their homemade whipped cream they rave about. For almost $9 for a one scoop make-your-own before tax, it was honestly not a great experience today. We miss the nostalgia of this place - it's becoming more industrialized and less sentimental.

With glazed eyes I can recall the very moment my gaze fell upon the exquisite advertisement gracing…read morethe windows of what should have been destined success. I was riding along Main Street upon my recently purchased tandem bicycle (21 magnificent gears!) with my recent partner and keeper, Prudence. Naturally I let her ride in front, in silent protest of the gender wage gap. Even in our swift passing, my peripheral vision took it in. Could it be? A candy store in our very city? By Jove, yes! Instantly I tapped the brakes, almost tipping Prudence to the unkempt pavement. Her hand raised to strike me as she often does, but suddenly she understood the sparkle in my eyes as hers fell upon the same sign. The promise of pure delight. Alas we are troubled, me and Prudence. You see, we have dedicated our lives to the fight against the ever-warming globe. The feverishly haunting inevitability of climate change. I wish I could say Lee was joining us in this fight as an ally, but much to our chagrin, as we reboarded our tandem cycle, we happened upon a grave discovery. A bag of jelly beans. Innocent at first glance, yes, but upon closer inspection, each individual bean.. wrapped in its own dolphin-choking plastic! The horror. The horror. This betrayal to our Mother Earth. This assault on our senses, on every fiber of our being. And as the tears welled up in the eyes of my fair Prudence, I knew we could never bring ourselves to step into Lee's Candy Kitchen again, as we now knew the truth. A devious plot to lure the residents of this fair city into plastic peril. A trojan horse made of saccharine runs free.. and it must be tamed. To this Lee and his kitchen of candy, we can only muster a single star. A rusted star of jagged proportions and broken points, wrapped in a suffocating ziploc bag, much like our hearts.

I just bought the most delicious fudge I've ever had in my life from Lee's. Super fresh and…read morecreamy. Also, the woman who helped me was very friendly and polite.
