I walked in and it was completely empty. I barely got a hello from the staff. Minimal words were spoken to me. I think it's a Gen Z thing. The coffee was amazing though! I got a dirty chai with oat milk. It was cinnamon-y and smooth. It was a quick in and out for me. The location was clean, spacious, and industrial themes, really nice. I can't believe I've driven by this coffee shop so many times and never checked it out. It is so open, bright, and inviting. They even have a large patio to enjoy. They offer a variety of drinks and pastries... unique choices compared to other coffee shops. I ended up ordering the French Vietnamese au lait... it was good and had a unique taste to it. I hung out at one of the larger tables, enjoyed my coffee, and was able to get some work done. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area. This is such a lovely cafe spot. There's a lot of variety on the menu from caffeinated drinks to non coffee drinks and a great selection of cakes and pastries. It's a better Starbucks in my opinion. The carrot cake was so good. It wasn't dry or bland. The cake was not super sweet so the frosting was made with the right amount of sweetness. I am not a coffee drinker so I ordered the seasonal apple drink and it was so yummy. A very nice taste of fall even though it was so hot outside. There are plenty of seats and chargers. I don't usually go out of my way to a coffee shop because there are many great coffee places around where I live. But this place is really nice. The decor is pretty modern with lots of glass windows letting lots of light (or sunlight) coming in. It looks spacious and offers quite a lot of seating with power outlets readily available. I ordered their house coffee and a couple of pastries. The coffee was smoky and full-bodied. I also tried their dragon eye coffee. It is quite unique as they put condensed milk in. Not a whole lot of coffee places carry condensed milk, which is very dense and sweet. It's the type of milk I would use to make Vietnamese coffee. The drink turned out to be quite nice. If you like your coffee on the sweeter side, give it a try. As to the pastries, the blueberry scone was really good, soft and crumbly, which is the type of texture I like for scones. I also liked the pecan cake a lot, particularly the buttery, sugary nutty pecan on top. They have a variety of hot and iced classic and specialty drinks, such as ginger and raspberry lemon tea, as well as a good selection of pastries. All the beverage and food items are well-thought-out. The serving people are very friendly and courteous. If you're around the area, come and check it out. read more

Great little coffee shop to have a morning meeting at. I had the chia tea latte, my coworker had the matcha latte and our meeting guest had regular black coffee. All three drinks were really good and were served pipping hot. The breakfast food looks really good but I did not get to try it today. Next time for sure! Sweetwater, an accurate name :( Friendly and cool staff on a Saturday. They got pup treats too! Plenty of seating inside and outside, tons of large windows and lighting. We got the imperial milk tea which was quite sad. Normally when I go somewhere, I expect a shabang and wow, filled with tea flavor and sugar. But it felt very watery, like something I can do 1st attempt at home since I am afraid to dump tons of sweetener. Their Viet coffee was okay, nothing I'd personally order, but my friend got and I tried. Very bitter, but slightly off for some reason. If you like Cafe Du Monde, its kinda like that. I'm on a mission to try more coffee shops, and this place is a great value so maybe someday i'll try their regular iced latte, but thats way in the future. read more

I'm not from the area, and I visited to complete some work and interviews. If I was a Richardson local, I would definitely add Sweetwaters to my regular cafe rotation. The exterior of the building is clean, and there is a nice outdoor area in front of the cafe with tables and chairs. The cafe's interior and ambiance are stellar. It feels modern and clean without sacrificing comfort or feeling too industrial. The cafe is well-lit, and the big windows letting in copious amounts of sunlight add a nice dose of brightness and openness to the space. There is a good amount of seating that can accommodate individuals or larger groups. The music never got too loud, and the WiFi was reliable for multiple video calls. The barista that served me was friendly, and during my two-hour visit, I never felt pressured to leave. This is a great place to work, study, or complete virtual interviews. There is a printer in the hallway leading to the restrooms, and the restrooms were well-maintained. I ordered an iced French Vietnamese Au Lait. It was decent - not the best Viet coffee by any means, but it was a satisfying drink nonetheless. There was a good selection of drinks, and they all seem to be fairly priced. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here and recommend that you swing by and stay for a while! read more

Definitely a nice neighborhood coffee shop, which is somewhat a surprise for a place that faces the busy GBT. When I walked in my initial impression was a space that was way too big for its clientele. But over the two hours I was there with a friend, it was consistently busy so clearly I don't know much about what size is appropriate! Drinks were creative and unusual, and they don't run a large overstock. The day we went I badly wanted to try one of their (non alcoholic) cider drinks and sadly they were totally out of cider. Lesson learned for me: Have a backup beverage in mind. There's not a lot of soft seating, which would be a welcome change. This is a place you'll want to stay for a while. read more

Bought a bagel sandwich and a cup of coffee for $16.72 plus tip. Which is fine. I asked for jelly and was told "We charge extra for it". What? I ask: Why would the workers behind the counter not serve a customer? I walked into Sweetwaters last week, hoping to order my favorite coffee, a Vietnamese latte. I actually prefer the stronger robusto bean that is native to Vietnam so this would have been a nice treat. I stood at the counter for about 5 minutes and watched the workers stand around, talk to each other and do virtually nothing. One woman actually stood right in front of me and refilled the pastries - but never looked at me! I finally called out, "Does anyone want to take my order?" And the workers just laughed; not one of them came over to help me. Too bad. I live around the corner from Sweetwaters and am often there. No more. If I am invisible to the workers there, I am very visible at the dozens of other coffee shops in the area. They will get my business; Sweetwaters is "dead to me." When we read there was a coffee shop opening up in this area we were so happy to hop on in. Gotta try an ice dragon! We love that there are different drinks and a variety of flavors to choose from. You also have a great assortment of sweet and savory snacks!! The staff are super friendly and helpful and really trying to accommodate the hubs who can't have sugar or dairy. They did a great job! The open and bright space makes it a wonderful place to hangout and if you dare, play some connect four or play chess! It was good and not as strong as the Vietnamese my dad would make (Thanks God!) and was definitely better than Starbucks coffee. my girlfriend and I came to the place excited for a new coffee spot and it was ten after seven and the lady was already cleaning down and saying they had no more coffee. Kind of weird for a coffee place that stays open to eight. Maybe she was in a hurry to get home to watch a certain show. I read your response and all I can say is that ...can you imagine walking into a McDonald's almost an hour before they close and then telling you they don't have hamburgers? And that's a McDonald's. So my girlfriend and I walked and walked to go to your coffee shop at 7:10 and we're told that you don't have coffee ! to me that's kind of weird. Just close at seven. We should be able to go in and get the main thing that you produce almost an hour before closing. Just a pinch of advice stay here and don't ever go to New York City because if you pulled that in New York City, you'd be out of business in about two days. it's your business so you obviously have the right to do whatever you want.
