I was told to visit this place during my visit in town so I decided to check it out.. soon as I walked in I knew I was going to get real fat and happy here !! dessert is my favorite meal of the day and this place was no disappointment whatsoever. This place has amazing food. Went in on Thursday for ramen and wine special. The ramen was great! I added the egg and dumplings at heat level 1. Super flavorful, but (like the waiter said) wasn't hot. I recommend the ramen with heat level 2-3 for people who can handle spicy foods. Next door is dessert, which are equally great. I had home made Thai tea and Reese's gelato. Cons: The wine deal or buy one get one for a penny (glass), was awful. Both kinds, had a zin and red blend. The obnoxious and probably slightly drunk middle aged woman talking loudly on the phone, talking loudly to her friends, and talking loudly to the waiter was very irritating. I heard the same story 3 times. A little girl throwing a tantrum (which she re-enacted) and how she calmly put her in time out. How understanding she was because she was a drug baby and had "arrested development". Good for you lady, she obviously needed a pat on the back (or 3). Staff are emotionless, especially one short haired brunette who runs the front a lot. Customer service is so cold and only willing to do the bare minimum. The sweets are ok, definitely overpriced but it would be all overlooked if the staff matched the cool and friendly decor. Even once after tipping 20 dollars in cash and some on PayPal too I never even got a thank you! This is my 3rd consecutive time where I've felt like this, that's why I chose to say something. read more

Sweetspot has a split personality. I gave it 4 stars for the small beer and wine bar that occupies half the establishment. The bar has a relaxed feel that seems perfect for middle aged couples or a small group of friends. It reminds me of a smaller version of the coffee shop on the show Friends with alcohol available. Happy Hour is from 3-7 daily ($2.50 for a beer! Yay!) with live music on Thursdays. Seating is limited to about 6 small seating areas, one of which has a comfy couch. There are about 6 additional seats at the bar itself. The other half of Sweetspot is the cupcake, gelato, and coffee bar that serves mini pizzas, salads, and other savory and sweet pastries. I would rate this side of Sweetspot with 2 stars. The food for the most part is below average (except the gelato). I've ended up throwing away every cup of coffee I've ever ordered there. The cupcakes and desserts are sickly and the prices are a bit ridiculous for the amount and quality you get. Please check out the bar and skip the sweet side of Sweetspot. read more

I just had an extremely unpleasant experience. I ordered a DF/GF brownie a la mode. There were pieces of unmixed ingredients and clumps of egg and it tasted gross. I contacted the restaurant to provide feedback out of courtesy so that no other customer has the same experience as me. I called the store to let them know. They were flippant about it, and that offended me more, so I asked very politely for a refund. They said they would issue me a refund and put me on hold. So I proceeded to throw the product away. After I threw it away, they demanded that I bring the product back before they would issue me a refund. They even suggested scraping it out of the trash! I am so offended, I am no longer a customer and I wish them all the best. read more

I stopped by to see about ordering a cake for my son's first birthday. We're having about 50 people and had a budget of around $150 in mind. I walk in and start asking about cakes and was told immediately that unless I was paying $500 or more that they were too busy this season. I didn't even pay $500 for my wedding cake with 100 people! If they don't support small customers then I'm not supporting their small business. You just lost my lunch orders and any future business I would have given you. Great little shop with excellent items, but I can't stand a quick and pompous "your order doesn't cost enough for us to help you" attitude. If I were the owners I would sit down and explain how to position your threshold on cake orders to customers. It didn't sit well with me. read more

these were the nastiest cinnamon rolls i've ever had by far! the icing or whatever was put on top was too thick and completely disgusting! the icing should have came on the side in the beginning and it could have been better. i'll never know because and one bite i couldn't force my self to eat another, even if i was offered money. disappointed and disgusted. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but there were some off-putting things. The ramen's we tried (half&half and chicken tamenen) were both very salty. The corn I got on the tamenen soup was going bad and tasted rotten. It was edible, but not good. I was disappointed in the decorating on the actual bakery items like cupcakes. It didn't look like they should cost $4-$5 a piece. The last complaint was on lack of cleanliness of the bakery dining area. Everything was sticky and just dirty looking and there weren't very many people/it was slow on a Saturday afternoon. The plate that our $5 cupcake was served in was cracked on the edge. The positives were the kids play area/toys for entertainment and friendly staff. Maybe it was just an off day, but I don't think I will be returning with my family. I forgot, the level 1 spice is non-existent. Go for the level 3 if you are willing to try the ramen. To the store owners: the egg should come with all ramen options, not cost extra. read more

While I'm a fan of Sweetspot's cupcakes, I recently tried their chicken rice bowl - which could definitely use some re-working. The overall flavor was too salty, which needed some more acidity and/or sweetness to counter balance it. Also, the ratio of veggies and meat to rice needed some adjusting - needed more veggies to make it more balanced - had a lot of rice, which was very mushy since the juice/broth, they either add or from the chicken, soaked down to the rice, making it it a pasty, glob consistency. (This could probably be fixed by plating it differently.) Not very impressed and will most likely not return for their meals - at least the Asian ones. Their staff however is very friendly and, while their branding is confusing (what type of establishment are they trying to be?), it's nice that they are trying to fill in some gaps of the lack of variety of types of food available in Redding. read more

We've purchased several cupcakes here since 2016 and have enjoyed them all, including some that were gluten free last year. All of them were very moist and flavorful. Most of them have been some variety of chocolate, so i can't comment about other flavors. They aren't cheap though, at $3.00 per cup cake for the regular sized ones. read more

I seriously love Sweetspot. As a local DJ, I used to meet with clients at places like Starbucks, but now I meet almost every time at Sweetspot. They have free WiFi & plenty of space now that they expanded into the next room & have coffee, wine & beer. So no matter what your needs this is a great place to have a meeting or just get together with friends. I bring my kids here often too! My son loves the Root Beer Gelato & loves to draw on the chalk wall!!! Coming from someone who visits often, I have always been greeted with a friendly smile & my kids are also treated like customers as well & I love that when customer service extends to my children as well. I'm giving this three stars only because we love the new beer and wine side of the restaurant. Friendly staff with a freaking fantastic beer selection. Some of my favorite beers that you will never find in redding on tap. Ranges from a great selection of Sours, to IPA to darker and exotic ales. I like that they don't have a tap, but only offer bottles because it sets them apart. It's a great atmosphere and has a small little bar and the flat bread pizzas are delicious. For the three star rating... First, because Joe Wong owns the building. I've worked for him and seen the filthy ways he works, to which words could never expose. Now, for the sweets. we've been there several times taking the kids after school or going ourselves. The 5 times I've been there for the gelato and sweets with the kids and boyfriend or my 13 year old twin brother and sister it's been disgusting. Either the ice cream tastes old and like freezer burn or a moldy pantry (trust me, I know food and I know how freshness should taste). Not only does it taste like this every time but to top it off, yesterday afternoon (Friday June 5th around 2:30) we took the kids there as a last day of school treat. My boyfriends son gets half way through his gelato and finds a disgusting pube-like hair in it. Sick! There were two workers that day, a younger girl and guy duo. He kindly pulls the guy who served us aside and shows him. True to good customer service he offers him a new and bigger sized scoop and made the issue right. It was great and as far as customer service goes he did a great job fixing the issue and addressing the problem. 5 minutes later my boyfriends daughter is getting through her scoop and finds (in a completely different flavor) another fucking pube! Sick! She was too shy to take It back and show the workers so I did it for her. This time I went to the younger girl. I told her that we had just found a hair in another flavor and now this one, showed it to her. There were a few customers who approached behind me and instead of saying sorry she quickly grabbed it out of my hand and threw it away then walked away and took care of them, completely ignoring me and leaving me without a replacement for even the half of the ice cream my boyfriends daughter won't be getting back. I think she didn't want the other customers to know so she was quiet about it. The ice cream was still half full when she tossed it and I didn't want to have to tell my boyfriends 11 year old daughter that her ice cream was gone so I said, "Is that it, you're just going to ignore the issue?" And she said "well, I guess I can give you another scoop." That's fine, but she most definitely did not make the issue right and failed miserably to address the fact that they have pubes somehow falling in their gelato and sweets. So gross. Hopefully this will bring attention to sanitary good service and proper customer service in the future. Disappointing because years ago at the old location, the gelato was so fresh and killer good. Having several other frozen yogurt and gelato locations in town they're going to fail if they don't step it up. I would like to take this moment again to blame joe Wong, because I'm not surprised that under a building of his dirty ownership that you would find pubes in the food. read more

A place that tries to be everything. Beer garten: check, Kitschy coffee shop: check, Artisan bakery: check, I could go on but you get the idea. The confusion that permeates this business is apparent in its food and drink. Classics such as Hot Chocolate, or sugar cookies are confusing here. It's as if simple, well made classics from fresh quality ingredients are taboo here. The place is trying VERY HARD, its offerings are as desperate and confused as the style of the decor. The staff was kind though. Guys, stick with straightforward well made, simple food from the best ingredients available. Stop trying to be trendy. Do less better. read more

I hired these guys to make a mini cake and cupcakes of the dirty divas for my wedding, it was totally lackluster and outrageously priced for 125 mini cupcakes and one mini cake and an extra 90 dollars for them to just deliver them making it almost 1,000 dollars! I tried them a second time just for 2 cupcakes I ordered a chocolate cupcake that was completely dry and hard and the dirty diva cupcake had a hair in it disgusting! I wont go there again its overpriced and has very poor quality and the new changes are filthy like a day care center! read more

It's too much of al lot ok things. The service on the "bar" side is terrible. They have you pay ahead of time and tip then as well. I would not have tipped at all for the service I did not receive. This place is a true gem in Redding. Sweet Spot has desserts to die for and great food, beer and wine options! I love the cheesecake in a jar and the gelato is the best in town. My favorite food on the menu is the flatbread apple gorgonzola. It's a really sweet place to bring your family to relax and let life slow down. The kids have a place to play and they have great options for those who do not love sweets. Also their breakfast options and coffees are amazing. I have been coming here with friends and family for years of celebrations, lazy afternoons and girls nights out, and Sweet Spot is always everyone's favorite. I have read some of the bad reviews and I would say don't believe them go try this place and make your own decision! Redding needs more places like Sweet Spot, great food and a cool creative space. read more

Had the macaroons and cupcakes . The cupcake tasted dry and like it was from a cake mix. The macaroons were the worst I have ever eaten EVER! I also noticed some of their macaroons didn't have the claw feet it's suppose to have. They tasted stale... The staff wasn't all that great either. I waited so long and still people were waited on before me , even thou they arrived after I had. Ordered Tiramisu & Boston Cream cupcakes for a party. Customer service from girls @ the counter was nice & accommodating. The cupcakes were disappointing. The cake portion was terribly dry, generic & stale tasting. Would've been difficult to swallow if it hadn't been for the frosting. Flavors were generic. Many people at party also complained. I don't think I'd order again. We ended up throwing out the remaining cupcakes Next time we'll rely on Costco desserts. Also Safeway Redding has nice cupcakes. read more

I come for the coffee and the pastry which are always good and fresh. Yet to try any of their salads or sandwiches which look great. The cheesecake brownie was nice and moist, but not so sweet that it hurts your teeth and sends you into a diabetic shock. Highly recommend. The music that they play is also a plus. read more
