This place turned super filipino in a minute lol AND I LOVE IT. Its like Milk, Beverly Hills and Ninongs had a baby and named their child the SweetSnow baby. I always loved the shaved snow! But when the ice cream macaroons with super unique flavors came. Ah, amazing. The ube tastes like real ube straight up from the homeland, Philippines. So as their Buko Pandan. Its not Americanized at all and very authentic to the taste yum! They have pumpkin flavor too and mais con quezo. Yas. And many more!!! You want something creamy but not creamier than your moisturizer you used this morning, yet you want something icy but not icier as ASAP Rocky's wrist. Well thank this place for existing! The shaved snow is like you're eating ice cream but in snow form. The texture is like you put a bunch of snowflakes in your mouth and they all give your tongue a big hug. I absolutely love the texture, you should definitely try this at least once in your life. It's not like a snow cone where it's hard. It's creamy like regular ice cream, yet not as thick. I was really excited to try this place when I saw the pictures on Yelp and saw that they had Ube cookie crumbs as one of their toppings. However, I was pretty disappointed with the overall experience. 1. You get to choose between a small or a large. The small is close to $5 and the large is roughly $6. The large is quite big and would definitely be enough if you're sharing. 2. You have to pay per topping, which I didn't like. 55 cents per topping and if you choose a premium one (macaron bits) it's slightly more. 3. You can select a drizzle for free (condensed milk, strawberry syrup, chocolate syrup, etc). We ordered the taro flavored snow, with strawberries, ube cookie crumbs and condensed milk drizzle. The total came out to be $7 something. They were extremely stingy with the toppings and the drizzle. We couldn't even taste the condensed milk, and for such a huge bucket, there were barely any toppings. When you go to Pinkberry's and other places, they usually pile on the toppings even for smaller cups. After eating the thin top layer of toppings, there was nothing left for the remaining huge cup of taro snow (which then became pretty bland). All in all, meh... I've had better. read more

Your choices are original, taro, strawberry, mango, green tea, black sesame, milk tea and pumpkin. 3. Add as many toppings as you want, for 55 cents per topping. There are over two dozen to choose from. 4. Add a drizzle for no extra charge. Choices include condensed milk, strawberry and chocolate. The wife and I got a strawberry shaved snow to share. The flavor and color was a bit mild, like the snow was made with too much water and not enough strawberry. My issues are that the staff don't use gloves when handling/ making the ice treats, so I see the staff going from handling cash to touching the food... Also, when I went one night, the staff began mopping near my family and I - even though it was not closing time, we still had about 15 mins left. Which I thought was kinda rude. Sweet Snow is a combo of the creaminess you get from ice cream with ice shaved down to snow. The texture is so soft it melts in your mouth. When it comes to the syrup topping, OMG they smother your order with it. If you want a little shaved snow with your syrup topping, then this is the place for you! The college kids need the sugar and caffeine to keep up with their course work I guess. Lastly, the a lot of the issue of hygiene. Two employees staff the store at any given time. So if it is really busy, they are not able to wipe the tables down, so they get a little sticky. Shaved snow is part of a large center with its own free parking lot. Starbucks is one of the shops in the center, it is surprising that we were able to find plenty of free parking spots. This space is cute cute cute and it's cool that we recognized a couple of their customers' mugs in the polaroids hanging from the crafty "clothesline". I was wondering what was setting this apart that my sister would insist we come here when I ran across one of the descriptions of what they do on one of the walls. They don't shave the ice block and pour syrup over it; they flavor tue blocks and then they shave the ice. Makes sense. A couple of board games help kill time while we wait for everyone to finish their ice in this shoppe. My cousin constantly raves about this place so we finally met up there tonight so that I could try this magical thing called snowcream. You pick a size, regular ($3.75) or large ($5.25). You pick a flavor of snowcream, green tea, black sesame, original, or taro, to name a few. You pick your toppings which are $0.50 each and include either fruits, cereals, candy, cookie crumbles, or mochi. You can also add on a drizzle of condensed milk, nutella, chocolate, or other flavors. Since I'm a noob, I let my cousin do the ordering. She ordered a regular green tea snowcream with mochi, mango, and black bean. $5.25 was our total. She noticed that the mochi was low in the container, so she asked the guy that took our order if they were out. He said no, we just need to refill it. Upon receiving our order from the girl that made it, she only poured in the last remaining five pieces of mochi and handed us our order. My cousin asked her to add more mochi, and she copped an attitude and the guy that took our order chimed in and said that we would have to pay an extra $0.50 for more mochi. Really?!?!?! We basically paid 10 cents per piece of mochi when other people get an entire spoonful of topping? So in response, my cousin rightfully raised her voice and explained that she already paid for the topping and deserves more than the measly five pieces given because they didn't want to fill up the container. My cousin and I sat outside and enjoyed the snowcream, until another one of the rude workers (another white girl with glasses) that wasn't even involved left the store. As she made her way to her car, she made a rude passive aggressive comment to us and continued to harass us as she drove off. Honestly, we were over the fact that they didn't give us enough topping which we paid for, since they did correct it by actually getting more mochi from the back. This place meets my foreign criteria, and meets the guidelines for me to refer to it as BOMB when asked. We got taro and green tea, the taro is on the sweeter side and the green tea is just right. I topped the green tea with blueberry and skipped the syrups. It felt like cold clouds in my mouth so so refreshing in this heat. So, because I don't live very close to Northridge it's been literally months since my first and last trip to SweetSnow. But since I still think about it from time to time and since I'm trying to make up for lost time by writing a smattering of reviews, I want to draw attention to just how delicious it actually was and how much I wish I lived close enough for it to be convenient to go back. Having tried several other shaved snow places from Little Osaka to Hollywood to Koreatown, I consider myself knowledgeable on this subject to a point. While all of the other places I have been have had the same shtick - flavored snow shaved in tasty sheets and covered in toppings - and have been plenty satisfying, SweetSnow one-ups them all by creating a product that literally FEELS like eating fresh snow. During New York winters growing up, we would go outside during the less intense storms and let the flakes melt on our tongues, pick up fresh clumps to eat like light, grated ice. And that's what SweetSnow is able to replicate somehow in a way I have not found anywhere else. So that feeling topped with all my favorite things, specifically s'more toppings...I don't know why I haven't been back yet. Can't speak to any of their other products including the adorable cookie I am posting a picture of (because I gave it to my friend), but for shaved snow specifically, it's tops. On top of all that, the decor and atmosphere of the storefront is clean and simple. I really appreciated the overall white look of everything from the tables and chairs, to the white subway tiles under the menu boards with the random splashes of colors. The one thing I found a little off was the wiping of the cups. When preparing the shaved snow, some of the snow naturally falls off the sides of the cup. What caught my attention was, before serving the snow to the customer, the employees wipe the sides of the cup with a rag. I'm sure the rag is sanitary, but after working in the food industry, I've seen rags used to wipe things from dirty counter tops to sinks. So I couldn't help but wonder what that rag has gone through before getting close to my food. It was just a thought that crossed my mind; I'm sure they have a dedicated rag they use just for cups that they sanitize regularly. Nonetheless, I highly enjoyed my shaved snow (I even considered ordering another immediately after, but decided not to because of their huge sizes). It gets crowded sometimes, and there's not that many tables but I've been lucky enough to go during the weekdays and it's not too crowded. My favorite flavor there is the strawberry. Its $3.50 for a small and $5 for a large. My only complaint is that the toppings are too expensive. It's 50 cents each topping. I usually get 2-3 toppings which makes for $5-$6 for the small cup, but at least their drizzles are free. I like the condensed milk and caramel. You can also ask the worker for more drizzle if you run out in the middle if your cup. Don't be intimidated by the huge size of the cups. The snow is very airy and so it just looks like a lot. Decently priced and it's nice to have a shaved snow place in the valley. I've had to speed down the 405 from West LA once because I was transporting 2 large cups of shaved snow in the middle of summer. Regular selection of flavors so nothing much to say there. I feel like they all get it sourced from the same place so not really surprised that it tastes as it should. Toppings are pretty plentiful but it's lacking in rice cakes :( I can't make the traditional green tea with red beans and rice cakes. I end up having to substitute with mochi. Yeah it has similar consistency but it's just not the same. The fruits are fresh so it's not all goopy either. Service was okay, he was running a one man show. Luckily when I put my order in he got straight to working on it because a long line formed as he was finishing up. So maybe this place needs to hire another person. What I didn't like though was that after handling my cash he did not wear a glove. Maybe he washed his hands and I didn't see but I don't remember him doing so. So perhaps invest in gloves too. Ice milk choices are: black sesame, green tea, mango, strawberry & sweet milk toppings include things like: mochi, lychee, lychee coconut jelly, condensed milk, mango puree, etc. I've been wanting to try the black sesame based on recommendations from others for other similar shops. They didn't have any prepared. This was disappointing as they had just opened for the day.
