Fruit slush with boba
Cheryl E.

I've been in mourning since my fruit tea spot of choice, CHAKAA, closed down a mile or so away. On the hunt for an alternative, I found my way to Sweet Vibe: an unassuming boba shop behind El Gordo Mexican food driving down convoy. I pulled in, parked in the small lot, and found my way into a late-night, brightly lit shop with more variety of boba drinks than I'm used to. Score! WHAT TO GET Fruit tea, yogurt drinks, fruit slush, fresh milk / milk tea, regular tea plus coffee... and all the regular toppings including 4 different types of boba, jellies, foam and even dessert toppings from flan and Oreo to panna cotta?? This is a boba varietal dream!! I love their yogurt drinks: there's a tanginess to these that the regular milk teas do not have. It's refreshing, savory sweet, and filling. Most days though, since I am dairy free, I get... my fruit slush boba! Finally, a replacement for my old shop. The fruit tea is slightly tangy, but balanced with a sweet tapioca ball. I also love that this is just a slush, no tea added, since I don't want caffeine at night. Have an even greater sweet tooth? They've got a bunch of refrigerated desserts -- different flavored small cakes and tiramisus. BOBA QUALITY - 10/10 My rating for boba shops always comes down to two things: freshness of the tea and quality of the boba. A good brown sugar boba, to me, is sweet but not artificially so; has a nice chew without being too hard. I've only found 3 perfect bobas in San Diego: Camellia, Alfred, and Sweet Vibe. Yay! SERVICE Two large kiosks to the left of the service counter welcome you to come pick your pleasure, and pay right there. If you have questions there are always 1-2 people you can ask behind the counter. When you feel like breezing through service, the iPads are pretty nice. INTERIOR Ample seating, with three group tables, a countertop in the corner with about 4 high seats, plus 2 more chairs in the corner to wait in. They also have a bathroom! There are two PlushStation claw machines as well if you feel like playing your hand at a game I never seem to be good at PARKING this may be the only negative here: a small lot of about 10 spots with the other row reserved for the Mexican shop tends to fill up. At night, around 7 pm on, the lot can get pretty full. We've never had a problem finding a spot for about 15 minutes to grab a drink and go, though! Thank you sweet vibe for meeting my high standards for boba

Decent tea joint. Located in Convoy, with reasonable parking available. Cute decor and seating inside. Grape lemon fruit tea: 4/5 - interesting flavor, grape fruit pieces & lemon slices in the drink. Despite ordering as less sugar, it was still pretty sweet. Tasted better after the ice melted. Peach oolong tea: 3.5/5 - love the soft jelly & peach pieces. However, the oolong tea was bitter (either steeped too long, or with too hot of water when they made the tea). I would've ordered regular sweetness if I knew the tea was going to be so bitter, but alas, would not know ahead of time. Their other fruit tea flavors sound yummy, so I'm down to come again to try more flavors!

Sweet Vibe is a cute Taiwanese/Chinese dessert shop that's also open late, therefore perfect as a place to hang out with friends after dinner. **Food/Drink Review** Pistachio Cream Cake (3.5/5): Wished the cream was satisfying but resembled high fat cake cream that holds its shape but isn't as tasty. Pistachio flavor could have been stronger too. Uji Matcha Foam with Strawberry Fresh Milk and Floating Duck (3/5): It was more akin to matcha latte with strawberry jam and fruit on the bottom. If it was actually concocted as Korean/Japanese style strawberry milk with matcha foam, it would have been better. I see this shop as more of a late night option for a gathering place. It isn't going to serve top-of-the-line boba or desserts, but they are nice enough to have while catching up with people. Would visit again for that purpose.

Nice little shop tucked behind El Gordo Mexican food, parking is limited but never an issue when I stop in. There's a couple self-order kiosks. The drinks are tasty, of course customized to your preference. Fast- friendly service.

Mango pomelo slushie and black sesame coconut dessert

Parking can be a little tight in this small strip mall but if you can find a spot you're in for a little sweet treat! The inside does have seating but it was packed on a Sunday afternoon (very good sign). They have a screen where you can self order or order at the counter. I got the mango pomelo drink and the black sesame coconut dessert. The coconut one wasn't my favorite, but I did love the mango pomelo drink. The mango tasted fresh and it was the perfect drink for a hot day. Note- I ordered less sweet and it still was pretty sweet. I think full sweetness on this drink would be a little much but your taste buds may vary!

Stopped by after dinner. Had the Jasmine Rose Milk Tea and the Oolong Peach Cake. The milk tea was good but a bit on the sweeter side. I think there was other flavors to it since I want to say it had a cheese foam top. A bit overpowering I would say. The cake was moist. I could definitely taste the peach and oolong flavors. I just think that their flavors are a little bit overpowering. I do plan on going back to try some of their other drinks and cakes.

My favorite dessert & drink place in the town for sure! The vibe is friendly and beautiful, the drinks are great, I can tell they use good and real ingredients. The cake is very light and flavorful. I highly recommend this matcha strawberry milk latte and the pork floss cake. You will like here, please give a try.

Omgg love love love. Definitely memorable and a top favorite! The desserts are sooo delicious aside from the cutest presentation ! I got the bearimasu and my bf got the oreo tiramisu. Loveeee

Honestly, there's not much to say about this dessert shop. We were looking for a dessert place after dinner at Pelicana Chicken in San Diego, and we found Sweet Vibe as the closest option nearby. The dessert shop was nearly empty and about to close when we got there. This was a small but clean and well-organized dessert and bubble tea shop. The owner seemed a very nice person. He politely asked about our preferences. We ordered a Thai Milk Tea Cake. The cake tasted like a typical Thai Milk Tea Cake and nothing particularly exceptional to say about it. The price was a bit on the high side.

I think the service is great and the inside is cute, but the drinks were honestly not that great. I believe we ordered a thai tea and matcha latte, and I would not recommend those. Not very flavorful and a bit watered-down. We also got the mooncakes during autumn festival, and they came frozen? But when they were defrosted they were tasty. However, it's a very nice interior, the drinks are aesthetic, and the worker was super friendly.

this boba dessert shop is tooooo cute! i loved the aesthetic of the desserts and their unique flavors. i got the sea salt oreo cake and it was not too sweet and very pleasant to eat! the mango yogurt drink was my FAVORITE although it was small. the uji matcha jasmine was very light ands i didn't get much matcha flavor, but the jasmine was very smooth and tasty. i would come back again to try more drinks and cakes!

The highlights are unique flavors that taste fresh and different from other Boba shops also really good service and spacious workspace Now for the cons which feel variable based on location, I will say that this parking lot is not very large and it was a bit hard to find sweet vibe They also sell pastries and it is all a bit higher priced than your usual Boba spot but I'm starting to see Boba places charge about 7 or 8 dollars for their drinks Presentation was great and again flavor was not too strong on the taro paste that I got it wasn't as liquid as I thought it would be and it wasn't as strong when I got 50% sugar in 50% ice so overall it was a great taste just surprised the size of the medium was smaller than I thought.

Loved their drinks! Seasonal guava lemon green tea w/less sugar 5/5 brown sugar boba fresh milk w/oat milk 4/5 Drinks were great ! Their guava is fresh and they didn't use a syrup. Love that they use fresh fruit to make their drinks. Will be back!

Still my go to place when I'm craving something sweet and special. Their cakes may be pricey, but…read morein my opinion, for the amount of work, effort, and quality of ingredients, I think they continue to be fair. For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). My go to's: -Ivoire Royale (10/10) - my ultimate favorite still. If you like light desserts, white chocolate, berries, and moist vanilla cake, thus one is for you. Classy and unpretentious -Shangrila (10/10) - my other favorite and will make you feel like a princess with all the pink chocolate curls. A little bit adventurous and innocently elegant. Ones to skip: -Au Chocolate / La Bete Noire / Dame Chocolate - get the Viking instead. That's my favorite of all their chocolate cakes -Lemon ricotta - get the Passionfruit Ricotta instead -Torta misu - the matcha misu is better. The tortilla misuse made me want a regular piece of tirmaisu than a cake version -Coconut cream - not bad, not amazing though

Also just so everyone is aware they're also liars just to mention & stupid.. she tells us her name is Karen thinking we don't know the owners name lol .. She was at the register at 7:20pm and was extremely rude and dismissive after we placed our order, especially regarding a child's dietary restrictions and health concerns. We politely asked if it would be possible to purchase a small cup of fruit , even just a couple strawberries cut up, because one child in our group cannot have sweets due to very strict dietary restrictions . Instead of simply saying they were unable to accommodate the request or offering another option, we were told to "go somewhere else," despite already spending the amount we did . The complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service was honestly shocking. It's disappointing to be treated that way at a place we have supported so consistently. This place has been going downhill , management for this place needs to step up .

One would think that, in such dark times, one could still find even a glimpse of hope in an ice cream cone. I was proven wrong, and my outlook on the current state of affairs only dimmed further. I ate my ice cream in two bites. Twenty dollars for two cones, four bites total. I didn't even bother feeding my son the pup cup. He deserves better. The world deserves better. Bigger portions.
