This practice has potential, but it is very disorganized…read more We went for an initial exam in early October. The "hygiene bay" where they do cleanings is a large communal room with several patients being seen (or waiting) at once. The doctor comes in and explains the treatment plan (if any) in full view/ ear shot of other parents or patients that may be in the room. *Keep your original treatment plan quote and bring it to the appointments.* They tried to charge me $275 after one visit, until I showed them they had clearly quoted me $157. They adjusted it, but if I hadn't said anything I would have ended up overpaying by over $100. Be aware that if you see different dentists within the practice, they may try to change your original treatment plan. My son was supposed to receive fillings based on his original treatment plan, but then we were put with a different dentist who wanted to crown the teeth instead, based on her own preferences. We wound up having to refuse and reschedule. You can request to see the same dentist throughout if dental work is needed, but also be aware that this may lengthen the wait time between visits. Do not allow them to go ahead and put your child on laughing gas if there is a significant wait. On what turned out to be our last visit to this practice, the dentist was very busy and my son stayed on laughing gas for nearly 40 minutes before they even started his procedure. As a result, the numbing jelly meant to reduce the pain of the injections had worn away. My son, who had never had previous issues with the injections, felt the full force and began sobbing. No work was able to be done that day due to his emotional state, and because he had been on the gas for an extended period of time waiting for the dentist, he vomited afterward. We chose to go elsewhere, and he went on to have a great experience at a different practice. The staff was mostly kind and accommodating, that was not really the issue. The issue was that this practice is so disorganized, you could wind up with your treatment plan needlessly altered, being overcharged, or waiting so long on the dentist that your child winds up sobbing and in pain. If you choose this practice, be prepared to advocate for your child. Ask for the same dentist throughout. Know what they quoted you. Verify before you go which doctor you will see and what each visit will entail. We chose to go elsewhere. Proceed, if you choose, with caution.

After the examination, the dentist proceeded to tell me that dentures were the best way to go. He did an impression with the existing teeth still in. In two or three weeks the dentures were made and I was called in to get my teeth extracted. The dentist pulled the teeth that needed extracting (actually pulled more than were there ... but that's another topic), placed the dentures into my mouth. I went home and proceeded to 'heal.' The dentures fit like crap ... especially the lower, though the uppers were okay. I went in a few times for 'adjustments.' Then sometime later went in for a "realignment" which was a complete joke. The stuff made the dentures so thick, especially the bottom ones, they wouldn't stay in for 5 minutes even with adhesive; without adhesive, they wouldn't stay in for two seconds. Sooooo ... after $4,000 for the extractions, around $1,800 for the dentures, another $450 for realignment ... I got teeth that are literally worthless. Of course, when I asked for at least a partial refund, I got "gaslit" saying I should have kept coming in to get them to work on them. Naturally paying out more $$$. After over $6,000 paid out, I didn't feel like forking out more knowing the joke was on me. Anyway, if you need a tooth pulled or a cleaning, maybe you can get it done there. But if you want dentures you can actually use, I strongly urge you to go somewhere else. This is a condensed version of the story, but I didn't want to make this too long. This review is the truth of the matter.

I am extremely disappointed with the way I was treated by Nicole when I called to cancel an…read moreappointment. I was genuinely very sick and not well enough to come in. I was not canceling because I changed my mind or had something else to do. What makes this experience even more upsetting is that the office was working me in as an emergency because I have been having significant tooth pain. That pain is already difficult enough to deal with, and I am also concerned that it may be contributing to or worsening the migraines I have already been struggling with. When I explained that I needed to cancel because I was too sick to come in, Nicole's immediate response was to inform me that there is a $50 cancellation fee, followed by saying that she would "go ahead and waive it" for me that day. While I appreciate that the fee was waived, the way the conversation was handled felt completely lacking in compassion. There was no acknowledgment of how sick I was and no apparent concern about the tooth pain that was serious enough for the office to work me in on an emergency basis in the first place. What bothered me even more was that Nicole did not initially offer to reschedule the emergency appointment so that the tooth pain could still be addressed promptly. Considering the circumstances, I would have expected someone to say, "I'm sorry you're so sick. Let's see when we can get you back in so we can take care of that tooth." Instead, I felt like I had to be the one pushing the conversation forward while I was already sick and exhausted. I then asked whether I could simply keep my original appointment, which was not even until October. Nicole told me she would have to check whether there was availability. After checking, she offered me a morning appointment. I explained that I have to work, and she then mentioned another time after I get off work the following day. But again, there was no sense of urgency about getting me rescheduled because of the dental pain. That is what frustrated me the most. Patients are not just appointment slots, cancellation policies, or $50 fees. They are human beings, and many of them are calling a medical or dental office because they are sick, frightened, exhausted, overwhelmed, or in pain. Healthcare is one profession where compassion should never feel optional. Someone can absolutely follow office policies while still treating a patient with kindness and empathy. Unfortunately, my interaction with Nicole left me feeling that empathy was sorely lacking. When a patient who was scheduled for an emergency visit because of significant tooth pain calls to say she is too sick to come in, the response should not begin and end with a cancellation fee. There should also be some concern about getting that patient taken care of. People working directly with patients need to remember that there is a human being on the other end of the phone, and they may have no idea what that person is dealing with at that moment. A little compassion and an offer to help reschedule an urgent problem would have completely changed this interaction. Instead, I ended the call feeling more frustrated and uncared for than I did when I made it.

I would first like to say that I was very satisfied with my initial visit to your office. From the…read moremoment I arrived, the staff was welcoming, professional, and made me feel comfortable. My cleaning and exam were thorough, and I left feeling confident that my concerns were being taken seriously. Unfortunately, my experience following that appointment, specifically regarding the referral to the periodontist, left me feeling disappointed and frustrated. For that reason, I feel it is important to share my experience and the concerns I have about the referral process. I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the referral process and my experience during my recent periodontal consultation. During my exam and cleaning, I discussed my concern regarding an open embrasure (black triangle) with my dentist. Based on that conversation, I was referred to a periodontist to discuss a gum graft as a possible solution. I scheduled the appointment and took time out of my day because I trusted that this referral was appropriate for my condition. At the consultation, the periodontist briefly examined the area, asked what my primary concern was, and after I explained that it was the embrasure, immediately stated that a gum graft would not correct an embrasure. He then said the general dentist would need to discuss restorative options such as a veneer or crown instead. After the appointment, I was told I owed a consultation fee. I questioned why I was being charged for a consultation regarding a treatment that the specialist immediately determined would not address my concern. I was then told the consultation was also intended to determine whether I was a candidate for a veneer or crown. That explanation does not align with the reason I was given for the referral. I was referred specifically to discuss a gum graft-not to obtain clearance for a veneer or crown. My concern is not that specialists charge consultation fees. My concern is that I was referred for a treatment that the specialist determined almost immediately was not an appropriate option for the condition I was referred to discuss. This resulted in an unnecessary appointment, wasted time, and an attempt to charge me for a consultation that, in my opinion, should never have been necessary if the appropriate evaluation had been completed before the referral. For that reason, I declined to pay the consultation fee. I don't believe that I should be financially responsible for a referral that appears to have been inappropriate from the outset. I am requesting a clear explanation as to why I was referred for a gum graft consultation when the specialist determined almost immediately that a gum graft would not resolve my primary concern. I also ask that your office review the referral process to help prevent other patients from experiencing the same situation.
