Wow.......what happened!!!!!!…read more We have been going to Dairy Freeze in North Ridge for 20+ years. Even being a little away from home, it was worth the drive to go and have their ice cream and food. Through the years we took our kids there. Today we took our kids and our grandkids there. The usual treat would be ice cream with fresh peanuts and dipped in chocolate. Every time would be a delight! Today would be the first time since COVID. We were all looking forward to get our treats. This time we would have dinner also. The food was good as usual. But the cost of the food was still $$$$. We'll time for ice cream. OMG.... What happened. The vanilla ice cream was just an ok. BUT the chocolate they dipped into was......eating wax. Hardly any chocolate taste. We never had that wax taste before. Even the peanuts put on it were different. It was horrible. It was so bad that it will be the last time we go. So sad to something really great to go downhill....,. The only way we would go back is for them to go back to the way it was. Don't change something that was really good to save some $$$$$$$$$$.

It does not say that this place is cash only until you actually go and order something. I asked if US dollars was okay (they said yes) but then they said "we don't do conversions". I gave them cash anyway and they gave me back change in Canadian dollars but it was knowingly the incorrect amount. The employee then said sorry and that he'll add on an extra taco. While the food was being prepared (by the same employee), another employee (I think the owner) came out and approached me asking for the cash back because he wanted to exchange it for other bills...weird. Anyway, the tacos were okay, but definitely not worth $19+ and poor transaction.

Stopped by and tried their madagascar vanilla gelato, blueberry lemon sorbet, and nutella paleta. The gelato was amazing - soft and creamy and full. The sorbet was good with its strong flavours. And the paleta was a real delight - not icy like a popsicle but with the same blast of cold fun as you bite into it. The owners are super welcoming, have great energy, and are invested in churning out the best gelato out there. The space is mainly for takeout, but there are a few tables for you to sit if you want.
