This is our second visit to Freddy's and the food was just as delicious as it was last year. The side salad we shared was well seasoned with lots of chunks of tomatoes and cucumbers. I had the perch, sautéed in garlic butter and my celiac spouse had the burger with a gluten-free bun that was tasty and held together nicely. Fries came with our meal. It is a bit pricy for the portions, but the fish comes in portions of three (3) or five (5) each with their own price point and it's the only full-service restaurant on the Point. We went back a few days later and I ordered the scallops. So so soooooo good perfectly cooked and quite large It was an appetizer of eight so I ordered a house salad that also was very good. Hubby had the special steak and mushroom wrap and he said it was very good too read more

I can't imagine why anyone would give them more stars.. you all clearly don't get out much, or maybe you're friends with the owner.. but trust me, it's absolute nonsense. The only reason I gave even 1 star was for the great waitress and her service. Fish portions were extremely small 3" x 1" and over priced for the portion. Poutine was not poutine, it was fries & gravy with shredded cheddar cheese. We've been going every year while on vacation for many years, this will be our last time. Even the waitress voice how embarrassed she was over the portion sizes, and the owner has been told many times. They offered to accommodate for some GF fries in its owner fryer which ended up getting contaminated so I substituted a basic salad instead but not advised if the additional costs. Stopped by Freddy after a nice day at Point Peele National Park! We ate on the patio which was really nice. Nice tables and chairs. I peeked into the restaurant and OMG the floor is something else LOL... if you ever go, you'll know what I mean. The restaurant and patio was very clean. I ordered the fish taco, perch appetizer, and poutine. Washed it down with a glass of house wine white (it wasn't the best, next time I'll go with something else) My husband ordered a beer. The meal was very good but not $85 very good. I felt it was very over priced, especially since we came in for lunch and ordered off the appetizer side of the menu! 3 of us were at the Point on a Sunday afternoon and on our way back decided to pop in for a late lunch. We arrived at approx 2:30pm, just a few weeks after we returned to Red Zone from the 2nd lockdown. We sanitized, documented our names/numbers and were promptly seated. Our waiter came by, took our drink order and advised us that their special of the day was halibut, but that they only had 2 pieces left. When he returned with our drinks, we were prepared to order. 2 of us ordered Halibut and chips (the last two orders) and person 3 ordered a falafel wrap with a Fatoosh Salad. Both our orders of halibut were a generous size and cooked perfectly. The only real complaint was that the batter was "generous", as both of us usually order it lightly battered. Certainly not the restaurants fault as neither of us requested it that way. We both ended scrapping off the batter....however the fish inside was excellent. Fries were perfect. The person who ordered the falafel wrap and salad commented that it was a huge portion size when brought to the table. She stated that she was going to eat the salad and bring the falafel home. After devouring her salad, she took a bite of the wrap and said it was delicious, then scarfed the rest down. Plate clean. The halibut came to $19.50 per plate, not an extravagant price for size/quality. I did fell shortchanged being charged $3.99 for a glass of diet of pop, when no refills were offered. 2 beers came to $14.50..but they were 22oz glasses...so not overly expensive. The person who ordered the falafel/Fatoosh also had a latte. Her bill, with tax and tip, was in the mid $30's, which she felt was "overpriced"....but she cleaned her plate. We have been coming here for many years. With Covid and other travel plans we haven't been able to make it back since 2018. Restaurant is still nice with good outdoor seating. Our favorite dish is the falafel wrap. Unfortunately the wrap was changed from a nice pita to a cold tortilla which was not toasted and overall the flavor declined 80%. Fries were still good. Don't plan to return until the food quality improves. read more

The location is perfect; across from the beach and with the patio facing SW you can't resist a cold beverage late in the afternoon ... and into the evening. Some friends and I stumbled upon Freddy's while taking a day trip to Point Pelee Park. It was a Sunday afternoon around 5pm when we arrived. We were told reservations are usually required and they did not have any tables available for at least an hour. So, we opted to sit at the bar and eat. Our server and the bartender were both super friendly and attentive. Our group of 4 ordered a variety of food and everything was VERY good - especially their burgers. Our only bad experience was a piece of chocolate cake that came out rock hard. However, the server was very apologetic - took it off our bill and brought us a fresh piece. Also, there were a TON of gnats flying around the bar area. We were constantly shooing them away from our plates and faces. The staff noticed and said they had set traps out but couldn't keep the bugs away from the beer! Lol Overall, we had a nice time at Freddy's. I would definitely return if ever in the area again. I had the pleasure of spending father's day lunch here. If i were to describe this restaurant in three words, it would be fresh, homemade and delicious! Honestly! The owner's son introduced himself while we ate and wished my husband a happy father's day, nice touch! I love when owners meet their customers and ask our experience is. We enjoyed the authentic freddy's beer and delicious caeser. The food is amazing! My husband had the fresh coconut perch with poutine (not enough cheese curds according to my husband). I stole a few bites of the coconut perch, so amazing! Lots of coconut batter deep fried to perfection. I tried the falafel with greek salad which had lots of veggies. The falafel balls were so freaking fresh, I have never had such delicious falafel, I would totally reorder it. We ordered a kids meal for my son, which was a grilled cheese. It was filled with real cheese on marble bread...yummy with excellent fries. His favorite part was the ice cream which he picked himself at their ice cream parlor. He was covered in super hero ice cream, it was quite cute and very memorable. My only complaint was the service was slow, it might be due to the fact that waitress seemed new. Called them a few times but no answer. Answering machine message is inaccurate indicating that they are only open for takeout. This is not the case. They have a beautiful patio which is open for dine-in. A bit pricey. For example, five pieces of perch is $31. However, great level of space and taste. I would recommend getting the perch. The chicken kebabs were also soft and delicious. They make pretty good drinks including a spicy Caesar. Limited choices for kids: chicken fingers or burger. read more

They were decent but I like the ones at the Fireside Inn better (more meat). They have a selection of local wines. They needed to have bread to go with the meal. The only option was an appetizer. Home to the best cheesecake ever, and some incredibly amazing food. This is a family run business and you can clearly tell how passionate they are about the quality of their food and restaurant. Came here based on the reviews I read online. Had the blackened pearch with sauteed vegetables & clam chowder and Mojito to drink. Presentation was nice. I sat outside in their patio. Food took longer then I expected. Clam chowder was excellent, blackened pearch was yummy, sauteed vegetables were yummy too, however I did find one long hair. Wasn't to sure about going at first seemed a bit pricy but once we ate the perch was fresh, light and moist, fatoush was excellent. For desert we had the banana cheese that was to die for good. Was it the best burger I ever ate? No. Was it the best view of a body of water I've ever ate in front of? No. Was it a fun and memorable experience with good food and service? Yes. Therefore, five stars. We were in this part of the world for one night. Had doing Point Peelee earlier in the day and were crashing at the Best Western that night. Front desk recommended Freddy's. We ate at Freddy's. I think what popped this place for us was our gracious waitress "Kim". When it became clear we were from "south of the border", she said "Well, if you want the real Canadian experience you need to try Poutine." And so we did. And it doing so we learned a little about our neighbors to the north. And that's cool. That's why people travel. Freddy's namesake draft beer was good. The perch is NOT "saturated with oil" as one loony stated in their review. Quite the opposite. Coleslaw was good, atmosphere good. Service was quick and friendly. Very disappointed :( We were extremely dissatisfied with the poor food quality and our over priced meals. Everything is extra! The fish was greasy, chicken was over cooked and dry, steak was tuff & chewy, burger was super raw and our salads were saturated with vinegar, inedible. This unassuming sports bar has a great back story with family ownership. The sons left other jobs to rejoin their father to create a topnotch atmosphere for a local sports pub. Standard pub fare is available but some of the original menu is beefed up with homemade Lebanese and Mediterranean influences. The kebab is simply the best skewer I've eaten in my lifetime, prepared beautifully with gargantuan chicken pieces, whole small onions, and other veggies, in a nice homemade marinade. Overall the atmosphere here at the cusp of Point Pelee National Park is a fascinating mix. Leamington is an industrial town with a large migrant agricultural contingent. Nearby cottagers and vacationers enter the mix. And the large contingent of "birders" who visit Pelee (especially in spring) bring a gentle eco-friendly feel. They choose Freddy's because it's nice to get real food in addition to local wine or a cold beer after a day of "intense birding". read more

The look of the place and the name of the place would not have pulled me in. But a local alerted us to the middle eastern cuisine, so we tried Freddy's and came back the next night. Great experience! We were tired from birding all day at Point Pelee and this place took good care of us, start to finish, in addition to the excellent food throughout a broad menu. This is a third-generation family business. We saw manager and chef, brothers, at our table both nights, eager to make everything right. Wait staff were outstanding! The babaganoush is wonderful, served with tasty little garlic pita wedges. I had delicious, juicy chicken kebab my first night and a rib-eye steak, actually cooked rare, as I asked for, the second night. My husband loved his liver and onions and my sister was happy with her Greek salad. You can finish with ice cream or tasty frozen yogurt mixed up with real fruit on the spot at the ice cream shop next door under same roof and ownership. read more

I'm not sure why this place has good ratings, the food is entirely bland and VERY pricey . An order of wings and 2 fish tacos with fries ran us $40. The fish in the tacos were no bigger than my index finger, with only coleslaw and their own creation of what they called tartar sauce, which was actually just mayonnaise. We also asked for extra tartar sauce, good thing I checked the bag before we left , the woman serving us said she had put it in the bag and there was none . Not to mention when we came back to pick up our order she said there was no order under our name even though she had taken our order 15 mins prior.... I would understand if it were busy but it wasn't . Horrible service. I Won't be returning and the pictures on the Yelp site justify the size of the tacos and the bland toppings that it comes with. read more

Serious disappointment. After reading decent reviews on TripAdvisor and Yelp we hit this place up on the civic holiday after two others were closed. The table ordering ahead of us had a million questions and our server, Rebecca (sp?) was patient enough to answer them all. Unfortunately, that meant we got to wait a very long time to order. When she came to take our order, she wanted to rattle off a long list of specials after we had already decided. I let her know that we were starving and would take our food piecemeal if it came out that way. She said that wouldn't happen. Instead of going to put in our order, she stopped at another table that had literally just sat down to answer more questions and take a very long drink order. I had the coconut perch which was fine but certainly not worth the over $20 price tag. I opted for the tomato and corn soup. When it arrived, I took one bite of it and realized I had made a mistake. I asked if I could switch to a salad. She made a very disagreeable face and asked if I had tried it. I explained that obviously I had and that is how I knew I didn't like it. She said she couldn't switch it since I had tried it. What?!? So was she going to take it away if I hadn't and served it to someone else? OMG. She reluctantly offered to ask her manager but didn't think it would be ok. She then offered to get me more water that had been empty for a while. Five minutes go by-no water. When she comes back, I again ask for more water. I repeated the process once more. Pretty irritated at this point, I went inside to ask for the manager. I explained the soup situation. He seemed quite surprised by the server's unwillingness to change it out. He didn't seem to care about the water nor that I felt the service was terrible. To his credit, he quickly brought out a salad and two sauces. The salad was much better but the veggies were probably a day before they were to spoil-soft tomatoes and such. My husband's chicken fingers were fine. The most unfortunate part was having to listen to the server feed us this story about how she had checked with her other manager and he had said no to the switch. It was a matter of "miscommunication" she claimed. Riight. I'm trying to figure out what part of that was true-that this small establishment had two different managers on duty, that she actually asked him when I had said don't bother before, or that he had said no? Getting the check took forever and then the server lingered awkwardly when we said we didn't know if we were doing cash or credit. Anyway, I would never return and had much better dining experiences elsewhere in Leamington. read more
