This was one of those moments where my eyes were not only bigger than my stomach, but also managed to invent smells, tastes and textures that never actually existed. It was a friend's craving, and having had a nice big lunch I was looking for only a taste of something sweet, but she said here and I couldn't resist tagging along. We wanted to get an ice-cream sandwich, the posters for which looked so delectable. Once inside, it was a bit of an assault of the senses, the sweet smell, the mad colours and all kinds of posters and ads all over the place. There was a small few tables and one other person sitting in.
We ordered our cookies and icecream and toppings, and they came out in a few minutes. I was already a bit queasy at the thought, but something about the quietness of the shop made me consider how long some of these toppings might have been in jars.
Indeed, my fudge chunks were dusty and brittle, and not rich and velvety like I had imagined. The cookie was hard and crispy, which might have been fine on its own but made for a pointless cookie-ice-cream sandwich. We basically just mashed up the cookie and spooned it onto the icecream. So be warned, while the picture looks like a positive review, I have to say I wouldn't recommend. read more
