I'm 24 right now!-- Listen I am against Bush and any other (mostly) Republican sh*t because I consider my self as a Liberal. However, that does not influence my decisions when making friends or shopping at a store. Usually. On Aug. 31, 2008 my friends and I threw a baby shower for my girl and we got some of the decorations, plus the chair with the umbrella (from what I know this is the most important and typical thing to have in a Latin baby shower) from La Casa De Los Regalos. The owner, a woman in her early 50's or so was a pleasant lady who seem to have a nice store with many items. It seemed as if most of the materials in there where for sweet-fifteens and, once again, baby showers. Yet, regardless of your party theme I am sure you can walk in there and improv with what she has. If not you can atleast buy some Latin -American/Caribbean figurines for your home. Do not go in there expecting to much because her business is small and geared for certain events All in all it's A-OK! So for the sake of small businesses in Jamaica Plain, especially small Latino businesses in JP, go by and check it out.

I bought it and I didn't notice this until I got home, but the item I chose got swapped by the clerk since I looked down and was getting ready to pay on my phone. I got extremely disappointed after noticing the switch after opening the item that it made my day sad. Clerk was a long black-haired chick who tied her hair up, skinny, probably 5'4'' with glasses. I know this is petty, but I was really upset and disappointed. She clearly wanted the one I chose, but knew she couldn't buy until probably after the shift. To all the shoppers there, watch your boxes/gatchapon from the clerk who may switch it out. Mind you, this is my first time experiencing such a thing that happened and I've shopped there so many times, but nothing like that has ever happened.

I visited the Jamaica Plain shop today with my brother, on what happened to be the 27th anniversary of my father's passing. What could have been a heavy, emotional day was transformed into something unexpectedly meaningful, thanks in large part to the experience I had with Jessen. He spent well over an hour with me, patiently walking through countless combinations of styles, shapes, and colors -- not rushing, not upselling, just exploring what really worked. He was thoughtful, kind, and extraordinarily knowledgeable, and it was clear he genuinely enjoyed the process of helping me find the right hat. That enthusiasm was contagious; time absolutely flew by. I left with a beautiful hat and a matching scarf, each with its own story -- down to where the wool came from and how it was made. That level of care and passion isn't something you can fake. It's obvious that Jessen and Andria care deeply about their craft, their customers, and the experience they create in the shop. This was, without question, the best experience I've ever had in a hat store. The selection is fantastic, but it's the heart, expertise, and hospitality that make Salmagundi truly special. If you're anywhere near Boston and even thinking about a hat, do yourself a favor and go see Andria and Jessen. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
