Located in downtown Somerville. It is a super cute shop. I appreciate that they sell very unique flavors. They were very nice about letting you sample flavors because there are a lot of them and kinds you probably never had in an ice cream before. They had a combo where you can get a small ice cream and a drink. My husband and I both got the combo so we can try a few different things. I can't recall the names of the drinks or my husband's ice cream flavor but I got Strawberry Lychee. It wasn't my taste but I would be interested to try other flavors. We came during a midweek lunch rush and there was only one person working so it was taking a long time so my husband had drop me back off at work before going back to grab it and deliver it to me. It was packed well.

Originally, my husband wanted to grab some boba. Since we were in Somerville, we decided to check out The Grumpy Boba. To our surprise, Grumpy Boba had closed, and Sweet Ubear had taken over. All I can say is, we were like kids in a candy store! First things first, yes, they still serve boba. Whew! But here's the best part: they now serve ice cream sundaes in bubble waffles! It's worth noting that all waffles are made fresh to order, so there's a brief wait, but it's worth it. The wait isn't long, I promise. They offer a variety of ice cream flavors, including classic options as well as fun and unique ones like Almond Toffee Nut, Pretzel by the Ocean, and several distinctive Asian-inspired flavors such as Black Sesame, Durian, Strawberry Lychee, Taiwanese Pineapple Cake, and Ube Brownie. Can't decide? They're very generous with samples to help you choose. Still unsure? You can always opt for a flight. Don't forget to add some of their many toppings, and be sure to try their freshly whipped cream, which they make on-site. The space is warm and inviting, with plenty of seating and even a sofa where you can relax and enjoy your treat. They also offer a reward system. You earn a point for every dollar you spend. Talk about a sweet deal! I've known them since their Hillsboro location, but now they've opened a new spot in downtown Somerville, and I wish them continued success in this new location. This place is truly a gem for both ice cream and boba tea!

I love walking down Main Street and I saw that this new restaurant popped up replacing the old Grumpy Bobas. I stopped in on a Tuesday night after dinner and it was fairly busy with at least 5-6 other customers. There was a lot of seating inside and there was even a small sofa too. I thought it was really cool they have a little crane machine at the front. That seemed like a big hit with some kids that came in. The menu is very unique with so many different flavor options like durian and pandan coconut. Unfortunately a lot of the flavors were completely out for the day. I saw on the menu they have the bubble waffles with ice cream so I knew I had to try that with a fun flavor. I got the bubble waffle with the taro almond ice cream. It did take a few minutes to be made but I wasn't in a hurry and it was understandable considering there were others waiting in line. Once I got my order, the waffle was hot and fresh. The taro almond ice cream....might actually be my new favorite!!! It was so good! I will definitely come back I would love to try some other flavors like the ube brownie. I also would come back to try some of the bubble tea options especially the signature drinks.

Family pack ice cream: black sesame, Thai tea, ube, mint chocolate, lycee strawberry.

I came here for the first time with my family after dim sum for dessert as they recommended this place. This place used to be called grumpy bobas, but changed ownership and became sweet parlor even though you can still see the old sign. Service: they let you try samples of the flavors to help you decide which flavor you want. Food: They have a lot of interesting flavors as well as Asian flavors. Since our family was a large group, we were planning to get 6 flavors, but the worker said that we can buy a pack of 6 flavors/scoops which was cheaper than buying 6 individual scoops. Really nice that they offer a family pack version. We ended up getting: 2 black sesame, 1 ube, 1 mint chocolate, 1 lychee strawberry, 1 Thai milk tea. My favorite was the lychee strawberry. Ube, black sesame, and Thai milk tea were also good. (Of course I would prefer the Asian flavors over the regular flavors any day) The mint chocolate chip was REALLY minty, which I didn't mind since I like mint but might turn some people off. What I didn't get or like was that it felt like they had Oreo in multiple flavors such as matcha Oreo. Would have preferred if it was just matcha. The ice cream felt a bit on the sweeter side which doesn't fit my palette as much since I'm a savory girl and prefer less sweet, but that's just me. Overall, it was still good and because it's the only shop with Asian flavors, it would rank top for me in Somerville. It does look like they rotate and change up their flavors, so at the time I went, maybe the flavor variety was not as good. If I get to come back again, I'm interested in trying the guava cheesecake and taro almond. I like that they have unique and interesting flavors and looking forward to see what other flavors they come up with! Ambience: Casual ice cream spot with simple decor and seating. A nice place to get dessert after dinner. They also have a claw machine and a game you can play while waiting. Some of the decor could be Instagram friendly. They also sell their flavors in pints!

Here so much because it's convenient and they have a great bubble waffle and boba drink deal. Can't beat it. The staff is ok. They often times seem overworked and tired but the treats are always good. The decor is of a typical ice cream shop. Bright, clean, and happy.

Grumpy Boba is gone and in its place is Sweet Parlor. The layout is same but fresh paint and adds an edgy vibe to a boba tea place. Is that possible? It works. Our boba barista was hard at work creating an amazing piece of art consisting of boba waffle cone filled with two (or possibly three) scoops of ice cream, mochi, Biscoff cookies, caramel drizzle and whatever else was hidden within. We waited and then it was our turn. We ordered .... a Black Milk Tea. Yes, boring but it was perfect. A return visit to sample their menu is in the horizon.

Once inside it was much larger than I thought it would be. Lots of space but at the time of my visit pretty limited seating. The service was ok. They also offer some food but as I just dined elsewhere I did not try it. They also have ice cream, which I also didn't try but it was a nice addition and they can make ice cream float drinks. I think I would be back because it does have potential.

It's owned by a pretty cool family. I was there for their semi grand opening celebration All hands on deck. They have a floatea which is a combination of ice cream and bubble tea. This is a meal all by itself, but pretty tasty if you've never had one . So if you are in the Martinsville, Warren or surrounding areas stop in and show some love.

Pretty homey feel when you walk into the store. There was a cute selfie wall when you walk to the register. The menu is pretty extensive. I debated getting a drink but was so full from lunch that I got a box of the ube crinkle instead. My husband did order an ube shake for him and my son, so the three of us shared. First I noticed that people don't come here for one drink- people leave with 4-5! Everything looked so good coming out that I couldn't wait to try my husband's shake. Staff was friendly and place was clean! They did have those floor fans going on which I assume was to try the wet footprints from the melting snow outside, so I think that made the restaurant louder the it is. The ube shake was delicious! It was a little hard to drink at first because it was made pretty icy. I'd prefer mine to be a little smoother, but not a huge thing since it'll just melt. My 5 year old LOVED the "ice cream". He drank a good amount which was shocking. I had the ube crinkle when I got home and it was SO good. It was the perfect softness and it wasn't overly powered on top. I ended up eating a second one, which I normally would never do but I couldn't help myself! It wasn't overly sweet or coated with powder and the softness just made it that much better. Would I come back? I would if I happen to be in the area, I will definitely stop by to try the rest of their cakes/drinks!

Everything here is lovingly crafted by Kathy, the owner, who makes items from scratch, including their ice cream. You can truly taste the difference: fresh ube, no artificial flavors. Just pure goodness. Kathy and her husband take great pride in their Filipino menu, offering a variety of delightful treats centered around the beloved purple yam. Now, you might be wondering, what exactly is ube, and why is it so popular? Contrary to popular belief, ube isn't a fruit. It's actually a purple sweet potato that's highly sought after in the Philippines. If you love taro, you'll love ube even more. It's a staple in many Filipino desserts and dishes, known for its rich flavor and vibrant color. If you're in search of delectable drinks and cookies, this is your spot. Their signature ube drinks range from floats and lattes to coffees, milk teas, and even ice cream. All with delicious bits of real ube in every sip. Not in the mood for ube? No problem. They offer a wide variety of options, including their Pinoy series, pandan drinks, Milo drinks, matcha, cold brews, and more. And I have to mention, they now serve Vietnamese coffee, Filipino-style. It's pure heaven in a 16 oz cup. The shop itself has great lighting, perfect for IG, Yelp photos, or even vlogging. Just note that seating is very limited.
