The Boston Cream was the biggest disappointment. The filling had a sour taste and a curdled texture instead of a smooth, rich pastry cream, and the chocolate topping barely tasted like chocolate. It was unpleasant enough that we couldn't finish it. The complimentary Key Lime donut suffered from the same dense texture and didn't change our overall impression. What concerns me most is that these donuts were also sampled by a local executive chef who had high expectations for The Salty Donut. We both reached the same conclusion.
