I first tried out Plumeria at a big Yelp event, so when I went to get a coffee a few doors down and saw their sign, I had to stop in. I wanted a treat so I got a cupcake, which isn't really a cupcake, its a squarecake in a cardboard container, which makes it super easy to eat. I don't know the name of what I got, its a tart fruity cake. It reminded me of the guava cake's at Aki's in SJ, not too sweet, the frosting is restrained and delicate, not oily or greasy. The flavor was a little too subtle for me, I didn't get tart, just a very mild fruity taste. The texture wasn't my favorite either, it was crumbly. However, for a middle of the day, craving a sweet, but not too sweet treat, it was good, and at 3.25, a decent serving size. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. I wish I had brought more money to get some popcorn. I work nearby fairly often, so I'm sure I'll be back to try more treats! Just as a head's up, it's tucked behind the first row of buildings, so go down the walkway in between the first row buildings and then you can't miss it. Came across plumeria flours at a Festival in Japan town, I have to say it was the sweetest encounter of my life. They only had their popcorn products when I had gone. The variations of their popcorn was very unique, most of them had a brown sugar and butter base. The flavored varied from seaweed, hot sauce, bacon, Black Sea salt, dried plum, etc. I had purchased the hot sauce and bacon. The bacon popcorn was good, I wish it was a little saltier. I am however in love with the hot sauce popcorn! It's deliciously sweet with the brown sugar (like caramel) and with a spicy kick at the end by the habanero. So good! What makes Plumeria Flours popcorn so different from other carmel popcorn is there is only a very thin coating of carmel which allows the corn to stay crunchy and never chewy nor stale. What a gem this place is! Not only are the owners incredibly friendly, but they have delicious treats! I was hesitant at first to try the cupcakes since it seems that everywhere you go, there is yet another cupcake store with mediocre baked goods. Not here! The cupcakes come in these neat square containers and in them lies moist, fabulous cupcakes. Their flavors are amazing- don't be shy, try something different. If you like tropical flavors such as guava, passion fruit and mango, this is the place for you! Yum!! They also carry unique popcorn flavors and fabulous caramels. This place is right near where I work and that is dangerous. Look for the sign pointing you towards their shop behind the main stores, you don't want to miss them. Had the Mango cupcake - loved it! My type of treat, crumbly cake texture with very light tasting frosting. You taste the flavor, not all the sugar. If you are redeeming a Groupon deal, call them and let them know so they have enough. They are a small store in WC hidden in the back of a strip shopping mall. I ordered macadamia shortbread cookies as favors for my wedding and li-hing mui and seaweed popcorn for my dessert buffet. Michelle and Alvon were very accommodating and even went out of their way to bake me more shortbread cookies when I miscounted and ended up being short on the cookies. As far as taste goes, the popcorn was gone in minutes (my hubby and I didn't even get to try it, but our guests raved about it!), and the cookies were so yummy I couldn't stop myself from eating them when I was boxing them up for my favors! I still have people asking me for the macadamia shortbread cookies and asking me where I bought them. Of course, I've been referring them to Plumeria Flours =) On another note, I did get lucky on one of the days that I picked up my shortbread cookie order and got a haupia cupcake. Came here looking for a unique christmas gift to send to a friend. The shop is hidden in the back. There is a small sign in the front to point you to the back. The shop is small and had very limited selections of the oreo flowers and popcorn. I was very disappointed when I arrived at the shop. I wanted to buy a variety of cookies. I was hoping to see colorful and unique treats that I saw on yelp. But the sales person said that things sells out fast or people have to pre-orders. He said people order for party favors which I think is a good fantastic idea. They are lovely creations. So if you want something from this shop, you must wait for about two weeks because they dont have an in house kitchen. They have to rent a kitchen to make their treats so its a bit inconvenient. I will definitely pre-order my next purchase because I want try all the various flavor. I am most attracted to the lovely vibrant colors and decorations. I didnt see a menu. So I am not sure what they have. I checked their website, but there was an error on the menu page. For now, I am going by yelp pictures to decide what to order. This place is a bit hyped up. I was very excited to try this place because I loved the idea of having the cupcakes in a square form, it was very unique. I tried 3 flavors, haupia, coffee and mango. The haupia was pretty good, nothing special, but the mango and coffee was a bit dry and tasted like it was made the day before. I told my coworker about this place and told her to try it anyways. She tried all the flavors and said her mix was either good or too dry also. I think it really depends on when you go. I would ask to see which cakes are made fresh that day.
