My personal favorite is their strawberry buttercream frosting it's one of those things I always end up asking for when we order a cake. I also really like that you can mix and match flavors and especially the fillings between the layers. It makes each cake feel a bit more custom and not just standard birthday cake. Everyone there has always been super friendly and welcoming every time we go in which makes it an easy experience overall. My daughter is especially into their cupcakes when the Oreo ones are in rotation she gets super excited and that's usually what we end up leaving with. Just a solid place we keep going back to because the cakes are consistently good and it feels like they actually care about what they're making.

I recommend placing your order in person rather than online, as it allows you to go over all the details. For the most part, everything went smoothly, aside from one small oversight--they forgot to write my daughter's name on the cake. We picked up the cake on Saturday and enjoyed it the following day. I ordered a 6-inch round double chocolate cake, and it served eight people, which was exactly what we needed. The cake had a delicious flavor, and everyone enjoyed it. While it wasn't quite as moist as I had hoped, I believe that may have been because we waited a day before serving it. Overall, we were very happy with our experience and would definitely order from Dave's Cakes again in the future.

We lived in Wash DC where Georgetown has a world-famous cupcake place that was featured on TV. That Georgetown shop is not as good as two spots. The owner is kind of a jerk...yelling at his teenage staff and bringing corrosive politics into his store, but at least he has a sense of humor with his sandwich board out front that there are no cupcakes outside. Give them a try. Be kind to the teens working there and Enjoy the great cupcakes!

Stacey has been blessing my life (and my taste buds) for years with her cakes and adorable promos. But this year, I decided to level up. Enter the Charcakerie. Yes, you read that right. Char. Cake. Erie. It's exactly what it sounds like. A charcuterie-style spread of cake, icing, fillings, and all the toppings you need to create a choose-your-own-adventure dessert experience. Think cake cubes and creative chaos all rolled into one magical sugar session. I ordered the small board since it was just me and the fam, not a full-on party. Honestly, it was perfect. Tasty, playful, and hands down one of the most fun and memorable birthday treats I've had in years. And of course, Stacey was a dream to work with, as always. Friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about bringing sweetness and sprinkles into people's lives. I can't recommend her enough if you're in need of a custom treat, a celebration centerpiece, or just a little sugar for your soul. And in case you need permission to eat cake without a special occasion, you officially have it. The words are right on the box: "No dinner until you eat your cake." A philosophy I can absolutely get behind.

I needed to order a cake for my brother's birthday, so this episode came at a very convenient time. Listening to Stacey talk about her baking passion is really what made me excited to get a cake from her - anyone who is this excited about their work must take enormous pride in it. And I'm so glad I did! She has such a huge list of flavors to choose from and all of them seriously sounded so good, especially the OG buttered marshmallow cake and all the happy hour cakes, but I went with a 6 inch 3 layer cinnamon crunch to appease all of the partygoers. Ordering the cake was super simple - you fill out an order form online and then Stacey gets back to you with the confirmation and ways to pay. I wanted to pay with credit card, so I called Stacey and she was genuinely so kind and helpful, it made me even more excited! The pickup was a breeze - just follow the instructions she sends you. The cake looked and tasted great! The buttercream frosting is a lighter, airier version of the traditional. My family also very much enjoyed the cake and my brother was very happy! Will definitely come back to Stacey for more cakes and hoping to try some of the other flavors as well - I've got my eye on the French 75!

I didn't try the ice cream, but the free passport cookie was really good, not crispy but a bit chewy. I also bought a coffee cake muffin and a very small vanilla cheesecake for later. The portions are small, compared to many bakeries, but that's actually a good thing, I think. There are several varieties of cheesecakes. I picked basic vanilla. The crust was thicker than I expected and I think it was based on gram cracker, but I could be mistaken. It was just four bites, but tasty. The muffin will be breakfast tomorrow. The star of the show is the decorated cakes. They are works of art that you wouldn't want to cut. They're pictured on the website gallery.
