If you're in the DMV and need a cake solution, check out Alicia at @sweet_elevations These cupcakes were for my mother's birthday and I couldn't have been happier. They are as good as they are pretty. I'm a buttercream and TRUE cake fan and these both were spot in. This buttercream and rich and the cake is moist with just the right amount of density. Listen, there is a clear cupcake war in the DMV and forgive me for coming to the party late on Sweet Elevations but you guys can't talk #cupcakewars without mentioning Sweet Elevation. Do yourself a favor and let her do the cakes for your next event! She threw in a free sweet potato cupcake which obviously didn't make it home Alicia's customer service is great. There are 3 criteria which I use to evaluate a cupcake experience and those are 1) buttercream quality, 2) cake quality and 3) price. Sweet Elevation checks off on all three. I'll be back again this summer. read more

I can't say enough great things about Sweet Elevations bakery in Oxon Hill, MD. When I started planning my husband's birthday party at Top Golf, I knew I wanted to be able to serve vegan and non vegan cupcakes. My good friend, Google, brought me to this small business and once I saw the offerings, I knew I had found the place. Alicia was wonderful to work with. The vegan cupcakes went faster than the non-vegan (and I was the only vegan at this gathering). Her carrot cake cupcakes may have been one of the best things I have ever eaten. They delivered to the venue and even waited patiently for us when we got caught in a huge traffic jam on 95. Her cupcakes were incredibly moist and delicious. I will not hesitate to use Sweet Elevations again. read more

History

Established in 2018.

Alicia's mother would often bake pound cakes and zucchini bread with the perfect crust, soft ginger snap cookies and sweet potato pies in their home in Maryland. During Alicia's younger years, she never stood over her mother while she baked, but always inquired about ingredients and certain desserts. After college, Alicia took more of an interest in baking and began baking multiple baked goods for family members and friends. She would find herself frequently visiting bakeries just to observe their various techniques and cake options and would find herself walking down the baking aisles in stores, watching videos on how to add her artistic abilities to her baked goods and would even research the best ingredients that would create the best crumb or flavor for her baked goods. With inspiration from family, friends and colleagues during the month of December 2018, Alicia decided to follow her passion for baking and opened her very own home baking business. She named it Sweet Elevations.
