I can forgive underwhelming cake. Even "ok" cake is still a treat. But to charge 15 dollars for a slice? I'm sorry, but that's something I can't forgive. The ingredients that go into cake, flour, sugar, chocolate, eggs, etc, are cheap, affordable basic ingredients. Unless they're using the finest imported Belgian chocolate, which they are not, it costs them less than a dollar for a slice of cake. Please I urge you to go anywhere else. Sweet Lady Jane, Deja Vu, anywhere but here.

That noted, it's absolutely worth the nocturnal trek to what feels like the middle of nowhere. The worker was very sweet and directed me to pay via Venmo, then proceeded to prepare my order. It takes a bit to get your order because this place is swamped with mobile orders along with the line it's constantly tending to. Anywho, we got the Nutella and Mango Cheesecakes. I am a Nutella aficionado; I will stay this way until my very last breath unless I develop some random allergy to hazelnuts later into adult life, and even then, that'll be my untimely undoing. This cheesecake was perfection; you can taste the Nutella both in the creamy cheesecake and on top, with a generous drizzle covering the cheesecake; the Oreo crust was thick but not stale or annoyingly hard. 10/10. The Mango Cheesecake: the birthday boy' slice. I prefer raspberry or strawberry toppings when going for fruity cheesecakes, but the mango cheesecake hits the spot; mango chunks on top of a New York cheesecake slice and a buttery, graham cracker crust. I would actually order this myself. 10/10. When it comes to hole-in-the-wall dessert spots, Sweetholic is a win, win. Nice service, reasonably- priced (about $11 a slice, about a whole dollar cheaper than other LA cafes and the staple Cheesecake Factory), and cheesecake that will make you moan into the sweetest of slumbers. Check it out yourself!

The first place to pop up was Timeout Tea and it was a no brainer after I saw the 4.9 rating. I also noticed that a lot of the people I follow had left reviews, so I knew it had to be good. The shop is located in a strip mall and I don't know if we arrived at the wrong time but that parking lot was tight and packed. I managed to get a park in the lot right next to it so everything was good but you've been warned. Once we arrived, we were greeted by a super friendly employee who helped with our order and gave a few recommendations. We talked about the yelp elite event they had there a few weeks ago and she offered "thank you" cookies for every item ordered. We ordered pina coladas, an original milk tea boba, a caramel milk tea with boba, a Berry hibiscus ice tea and a brownie and fruity pebbles cookie. After our orders we sat at small tables that had fun games at them while you wait for your order. The kids had a blast playing games like connect four, uno and other cool games. The drinks were good and everyone finished their drinks and snacks without any complaints. The shop was extremely clean and keep the kids occupied for about 45 mins. They also play some dope r&b music in there. They made me pull out the Shazam a few times. Overall, we'll def be back to try other drink options on the menu. I would also recommend this place to my friends. OOOOO 5 out of 5

Who knew a pop-up dessert place could be this good???…read more Okay, call me a snob, but I believe a dessert location should have four walls and some little colored tables and chairs. My favorite pastry shops and ice cream parlors all fit this description. The idea of chocolate-drenched strawberries doesn't quite match the hustle and street noise you find next to a carnitas or falafel truck. So I drove by this brightly lit, cheerful, stand for almost a year before I decided I had to try it. In a war between my love of chocolate and my love of propriety, my snootiness could only hold out so long. And boy am I glad I caved! When I ordered a Dubai Chocolate Strawberry dessert, I got a big clear cup with layers of cut strawberries, warm chocolate syrup, pistachio syrup, and shredded crispy filo dough, which is like sweet shredded wheat. It all mixed together in a dessert that was TOTALLY DECADENT! They also sell gourmet Dubai Chocolate bars that have the same mix of chocolate, pistachio and filo (no strawberries). These days, I think about this place more than I should. Recently, they were absent from their corner next to Gelson's in Valley Village, and I was so worried they'd moved, I called the owner! He assured me it was only the rain keeping them away. I'll leave you with this thought. There's some amazing ice cream/gelato places around town, some terrific pastry shops, but there's only one Dubai Chocolate Strawberry stand that makes Dubai Chocolate-Covered Strawberries this good. Ya' gotta try it!

I visit other Paris Baguette locations but after visiting the NoHo location I am happy to say that I'll have another place to stop by after a Trader Joe run. ; ) Paris Baguette has some really good pastries both on the sweet and savory flavor profiles. Being a huge matcha fan, I was all set to order one, but then I spotted a unique drink on the menu called "Fluffy Hojicha." I got curious and asked a staff member what hijocha was. They told me it has a distinct roasted flavor, which really intrigued me. Not knowing what to expect from a roasted tea, I decided to give it a try. The wait for my sister's drink, along with a crème brûlée donut and a strawberry donut, was just a quick 3-5 minutes. The first sip of the Hojicha caught me off guard; it wasn't my favorite right away. But with each sip, I started to appreciate and eventually really enjoy the unique roasted flavor of the tea. The crème brûlée donut was a lovely addition - just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. ELNO is located in a building with other small vendors, and there's a seating area that fits only two to three people. I found parking easily since I went on a weekday around 4 PM. My sister mentioned that on weekends, parking is a real hassle. It's definitely worth stopping by if you're in the neighborhood.
