If you're looking for something different than your average cookie shop, Kooky's N Cream is…read moreabsolutely worth the trip. Everything is made in-house, and you can really taste the difference. The cookies are exactly what the name promises--kooky combinations that somehow work perfectly! I tried the Peanut Butter Moon Pie, which was incredibly soft and moist with tons of peanut butter flavor and a generous layer of frosting in the middle. The Dubai Chocolate cookie was rich, deeply chocolatey, and just melted in my mouth. I also had a peanut butter cookie with a cheesecake filling that was absolutely delicious. Every cookie was fresh, soft, and packed with flavor. The shop itself is adorable. They serve ice cream, sell dessert-scented candles that look just like the real thing, and have benches out front under a tree where you can sit and enjoy your treats while taking in Lapeer's charming downtown. I love that the area is filled with locally owned businesses instead of chain stores. The staff was friendly, and they even have a punch card rewards program, which is a nice bonus. I paid about $25 for four cookies, so it's definitely a splurge, but the quality makes it worth it. I'll absolutely be back to see what new, creative cookie combinations they come up with next!

Both the hostess and our server were friendly and attentive, and the menu offered a great variety of options. We arrived around 1:45 p.m., and unfortunately they were already out of both the gyros and corned beef. Even so, we found plenty of other tempting choices. I ordered the Garlic Mushroom Burger without the bun, topped with bacon and jalapeños, along with a side of roasted garlic green beans. My husband ordered the Chorizo Ranchero Omelette, which came with a choice of one side plus toast or pancakes, and he added a side of sausage. At first, the prices seemed a little high, but once our meals arrived, it was clear why. It looked like each plate had been prepared by a chef. The portions were generous, the quality was excellent, and the food was well worth the price. Despite a couple of menu items being unavailable, we had a satisfying dining experience and would definitely return.
