My niece and I purchased several treats from the bakery a while ago. Most of them tasted like the commercial scent used to refresh the air. Some of the cookies were stale. We had to throw most of our items away. The only edible item was a chocolate cupcake. It was fresh and moist. I noticed the cupcakes are kept in an enclosed case and cake slices are boxed. The other treats and the quiche are not enclosed. They are beautifully displayed, however, I have wondered why they are not enclosed in a standard bakery case. My concerns (about the openness) are flies and other flying insects landing on the food, possible improper food temperature, and the commercial scents being absorbed into the open treats. For example, I have not purchased quiche because it is out in the open without any refrigeration. We visited in the afternoon and a sliced quiche was out for purchase. I hope my comments are taken into consideration. Meanwhile, I will pause my support. read more

My mom has been raving about this place for years now and I only recently decided to check it out. It was her birthday, so I decided to get her a chocolate cake and pick it up from this location. The weather was absolutely terrible and it is tucked into a quaint shopping center. As soon as we stepped inside, I almost immediately forgot about the rain because it was so nice and relaxing. There are about 3 two-top tables inside and it was decorated for Easter. The woman working the register was so kind! She made the ordering process easier and made sure to confirm with me before packing up any sweets that my little ones were requesting, which I appreciated. As I was checking out, I last minute asked if they did anything special for birthdays and got a free cupcake! I'm mad at myself for not trying this place out before now! For the first time ever, I decided to stop by this place because it was my friend's birthday. I know her favorite cake is coconut cake, but I had no idea of where I could find one. I drove to Publix, I drove to Kroger, but none of those places made a "specialty cake" like that. So I mentioned it to our mutual friends that I had no idea of a place where I could buy our friend her favorite birthday cake. That's when one of them told me to try Brown Sugar Bakery. They told me just how delicious the place was. Now I'll admit, I have driven by there a few times but I never stopped by. Well, I walked in, asked could they make a coconut cake, they said yes but they would need at least a day to prepare it to make it right. I picked up the cake today, gave it to my friend. She cut us all a slice... I'm here to tell y'all that I didn't like the cake, I LOVED THE CAKE! Not only me, but all of us fell in love with each bite we took out of the cake. I truthfully can't remember the last time I bit into a cake and started dancing as I was eating. The cake was incredibly moist, packed with flavor, progressively got better with each bite, you could clearly taste that this cake was made with love! In closing I will say that I am now a fan of Brown Sugar Bakery and I will ONLY go to this place now for ALL of the cakes I need! I really can't get over just how delicious it kept getting with each bite. I've seen raving reviews about this place but I've never been so decided to give it a try. Was greeted and given the royal treatment from the staff and owner. Found out they were from my hometown and had a really great experience. The location is great. I always search for delicacies in my area and this was a perfect distance from my home. The atmosphere was great as I was pleasantly welcomed by fresh sweets and awesome service. The pricing was great. Now the desserts. I had the lemonade cupcake and though it was large and looked good, it wasn't as tasty as i wanted it to be. The icing was yummy but the cake was rather dry and didn't seem fresh. My daughter got the red velvet and said the same. I also tried the red velvet butter bar and that on the other hand was super moist and decadent. I think it was described as a mix between a cookie and cupcake . When i return, in addition to trying other treats I think i would choose those and forgo the cupcakes. This is a cute little gem. I will be back to try more items from the menu. Because of the COVID we were not allowed inside. Everything was handed to you in front of the door. It appeared pretty clean from what I could tell. I did find out two sisters owned the company so kudos to them. The cake I ordered was a cassata cake. It was made to order so that means it was fresh. I've been to Sweet quite a few times after finding it on the Yelp app. I've had many cupcakes and recently bought a cake for Father's Day. When making the order for cakes they require you to order at least 48 hours in advance and pay at that time. My dad had been purchasing a slice of their carrot cake each week so I knew he enjoyed it. I tried the low country soup, which is only offered on Fridays, I can see why it always sells out. It was rich and creamy. My family ordered two cakes from this store for my WEDDING. Both cakes were meant to be iced red with dark green and white icing accents (not exactly traditional, but that was the point). One cake was meant to say "all I want for Christmas is you" and the other with our names. The one with our names was meant for our one year anniversary. Anyway, the big cake meant for the reception was WHITE, not red, with red writing and a bright green border. The writing was sloppy, off center, and so tiny that it just looked weird. The white icing was also sloppily applied for a wedding cake. When we finally got to taste it, the icing was hard and the cake was dry. I didn't take more than a bite. We also decided to try the anniversary cake after a month, mostly because it was taking up too much room in the freezer. It was red with white writing and a green border, so closer to correct, but instead of our names on top, it was falling off the side of the cake. After thawing from the freezer, we again could only take one bite, as the melting frosting was sickly sweet, and again the cake was dry. Incredibly disappointed that this part of my Christmas wedding was ruined, and that I can't post pictures of my wedding cake because of how truly ugly and disappointing they were. Now let's talk money. These cakes were hilariously expensive for the quality, or lack there of. Way over 100 dollars, which for a wedding cake is fine and expected, but if I had been there to pick up these cakes instead of my sweet grandmother, there would have been words and extra cake sitting in that shop, and I would have run to Publix instead! read more

The very first time I went here about 2 years ago I fell in love with the pound cake. I continued to frequent until the top of this year when I went for more pound cake which was burnt. I called and attempted a civil resolve but that didn't happen so I refused to go back until my best friend gave me a gift certificate for my birthday this year. Once again I went in for pound cake, it was horrible! I got 2 slices of regular and a slice of lemon. it was horrible so much so all 3 pieces went in the trash. it tasted like it was baked in a old dirty pan, it had a very weird taste. When I further looked at it, it looked spotted and old. I'm not sure what happened over time, I'm not sure it they now cater to high profile clients for cake decorations or if they just don't hire appropriate staff to bake fresh quality goods. I learned about this shop via yelp earlier that day, looking for eateries nearby and was pleasantly surprised. Its located in a quaint strip mall with ample parking. I visited during the quarantine, so we weren't allowed inside but everything visible was really nice. Although it was the during the quarantine, I was impressed that most of their menu was still available. I appreciated that the menu includes decadent desserts and healthy food options. My order included both. I ordered a Grilled Ham and Cheese on Crossaint. It included a thin sliced tomatoes, a buttery croissant like bun. It had the texture of a brioche and but taste of a croissant. The cheese had great pull. I also order two small chopped salads, 1 w chicken salad and 1 w albacore tuna. Both had a balance of meat, mayo, and spices. The chicken salad was shredded not chopped. The lettuce was dark greens not iceberg. We also ordered a hand full of desserts including the banana pudding cupcake, snickerdoodle, sugar cookie, gooey butter bar in strawberry and classics. The portion size are worth the price. We've only eaten the cupcake so far and it was banana flavored cake, with a banana cream flavored frosting, garnished with a vanilla wafer that firm, but not crunchy; exactly as it would be in a banana pudding dessert. Moist cake but not what I expected.said it was a butter cream cake but only certain parts were butter cream. Most was a strange gel like icing with a weird texture. The decoration looked a little pedestrian, not neat. I asked for a number on top in pink, looks as if someone or practicing did it or a shakey hand. Also hot pink instead of a softer pink like the cake. They put a raspberry on top and by the time I got home (5 minutes) the berry had juiced all over the cake. Disappointing for my bday. read more

Yelp does it again! Thanks to a search for a coffee shop with wi-fi, I came across this quaint bake shoppe. When you walk in you are welcome by the sweet aromas of delicious goodness... The decor is fun and bright to match the wonderful personality of the owner and staff. You feel so welcome that even this first-timer felt like a "regular". I went for coffee, which can be served in a mug or to-go cup depending on your preference. It was a delicious cup of java. Of course the desserts were calling me too. Unpleasant experience. The guy who was cashiering was awesome and pleasant. However the quality and price is outrageous. Flys on top of bakery items no type of cover up considering the door is right next to the bakery items. I decided to get something that was in the case and I shouldn't have done that but I was trying to be supportive. I understand inflation and I love supporting small business's but I was very dissatisfied. The taste was mediocre for the price. I didn't get a printed receipt which I requested but idk what happened so the cashier said he would text it to me but by the time I left I never got that text. So I needed up calling b/c my price seemed high and I spoke to the owner I'm assuming & explained what happened she was very short and kept cutting me off & her tone was condescending. It seemed very unnecessary. I just wanted my receipt to verify what I purchased. I finally got my receipt and a dry ass plain flavorless chocolate chip cookie that cost me $3.95 I could have went to cookie crumble. I was referred here by a coworker so I thought I'd give it a try. This place is very good! I only had a few minutes so I chose the one thing that looked the best to me and was a good bang for my buck! HUGE chocolate chip stuffed cookie with brownie in the middle!!! Only $5 That sucker was good! But warning, it was super sweet & HUGE!!! Me and another coworker shared 1/4 of it and that's about all I could handle at one time. A gentleman was ordering a special cake for his lady and his eyes wandered all over the sweets displayed.
