So happy we came across this delicious hole in the wall style bakery in Vega Baja. It was so good…read morewe came two days in a row :) When you walk in, you immediately see the bakery counter filled with donuts, muffins and other traditional Puerto Rican pastries. To the right a hot-food bar section easy for food on the go and an espresso machine. They offered traditional breakfast items such as eggs, bacon, ham, toasted bread with a butter spread and an array of sandwiches. The first day, we came around lunch and wanted something filling prior to heading into San Juan. I also wanted a cafecito so my mom suggested this gem. We walked in and the place was completely empty, the lady greeted us and quickly took our orders. I ordered a ham, egg and cheese sandwich and asked for the yolk to be slightly runny with a café con leche. My mom a medianoche (Cuban on sweet bread made in house) / My aunt ordered a pastrami. Each came to the table a few minutes later, pipping hot even though a line had formed immediately after sitting down. I knew that was a good sign. All three were each so flavorful, hot, fresh and filling. My sandwich was so satisfying with it's cheesy-egg goodness that the girls wanted to come back the following day! Fast forward to the next day, we all ordered the same ham, egg and cheese sandwich but my aunt wanted it on pan sobao (sweet bread) and both versions were delicious! I also ordered a cappuccino this time and it did not disappoint. Going to miss this cheap, satisfying bakery, will definitely go back next time I'm in PR.

The rice was really good! wow I don't know with what it was seasoned but damn it was good rice. OOH AND THE HUMMUS IS THE BEST I'VE HAD & THE FREAKING VEGAN TEMBLEQUE! I've never found a vegan tembleque in Puerto Rico and this is my favorite typical christmas dessert and i had to skip it, but now I know where to find it! Beside food they sell local vegetables, yams, desserts, teas and juices. One thing i loved about this place was how warming and welcoming the staff was. They have many items on menu, ranging from sandwiches to platters. We tried the ham, egg and cheese sandwich-pretty basic. The Cuban has great potential, a bit on the dry side. The pavo asado aka roasted turkey with cheese was flavorful but also a bit dry. The coffees are delicious, the oj I believe is Natalie's on which is pretty good but not fresh squeezed. They also have oatmeal, which I will try next time. Maizena is also on the menu which is otherwise known as cornstarch custard with cinnamon. This was absolutely delicious, will def recommend. Prices are good and not over priced at all.

¡CAMPEÓN! ¡¡¡Tenemos…read moreGANADOR: MEJOR PAN DE AGUA y PAN SOBAO EN LA ISLA!!! Bien, volvamos a LA COMIDA!!! We Have A WINNER: BEST PAN DE AGUA y PAN SOBAO EN LA ISLA!!!
