A locals spot, but not worth the visit. We had much better pan through out the island, but food was better elsewhere with kinder locals. This is not a friendly spot to be a gringo at. Located a few doors down from where the address will direct your GPS to, it's easiest to spot by the bright awning. Limited parking is outside, as is the story with most spots in PR. The menu is in Spanish, which is easily translated through Google translate. The cashier spoke no English, and seemed frustrated by our novice Spanish. I ordered a Cubano and my husband ordered a medianoche. The bread was thicker than we had seen on our weeklong trip thus far, and significantly oilier. We didn't prefer it to what we had elsewhere. Came by for lunch The girl that was working didn't speak English (but she was still pretty friendly), so she had another gentleman come help us. He was very friendly and helped us out with everything! I asked about the Moncho Especial, which is a ~$18 sandwich. He said it was good for 2 people.. Friends ordered a turkey sandwich to share I also grabbed a few quesitos and a guava cheese pastry. Both were wonderful, although I preferred the guava because I really like the guava + cheese combination When they brought out our food.. turns out our moncho especial sandwich was really TWO sandwiches.. They were MASSIVE! I think he said there were 6 or 7 different kinds of meat! It was so delicious! But we ended up only finishing half/one sando. Definitely get the pan sobao.. it's soo light and fluffy with a bit of sweetness. After tasting the sandwich, we decided to grab a loaf of bread to take home! -- we made more sandwiches at home with this bread and they were great, should've grabbed one more! -- Tried my friends' turkey sandwich and this was great too. I usually order anything on their 'pan sobao', which is their sweet, soft bread, which is really good, although over the years I think it's gotten a bit greasy to take home, unless you eat it right away. And, of course, a cup of coffee is a must! Caution with the coffee: when served, it is extremely hot. Their service is always very good. Moncho Pan offers an array of sandwiches, pastries, hot cereals, which are very good. You can also buy milk, juice and a few extra things you might be lacking and can purchase there instead of going to the grocery store. While they are preparing your order, they have quite a few tables with chairs to sit and, either wait for your order to be ready to eat right there or wait to take home. I count myself a lucky man because my wife is from the neighborhood in which Moncho Pan is located. This is always the 1st place we stop after arriving back at home for a cortadito and tostada in the morning. They have the best pan sobao in the entire isla, the choripan and the medianoche are my wife's favorites while I cannot seem to get enough of the Cubano with a bottle of Malta India. Every item I have tried at Moncho Pan has been extremely tasty and I love the easy-going atmosphere. The turkey and pork are roasted daily, something you see in very few places anywhere. I find it funny that people complain that the staff is not friendly. They have always been extremely friendly to us...and if they were not, I would still frequent Moncho Pan for the tastes of the island that elude us in the western United States. The best sandwiches are: turkey, cubano, chicken and the Tripleta. Obviously, ask them to be served on Pan Sobao bread. The sunny side up eggs they serve are made to perfection. Perfect. Like a fellow Yelper has pointed out, a wonderful morning in Puerto Rico can easily be described as arriving early to Moncho Pan, order some pan sobao buttered toast with some coffee, sit and enjoy. Awesome place for fresh sandwiches (and bread). I never once fail to get one (my favorite- turkey sandwich) when I come to PR for the weekend. My familys' faves are 'pan con bistec' and 'turkey with everything'. Their turkey is freshly cut so its not the typical cold cuts you get in typical "panaderias"/deli. You can order sandwiches in their famous 'pan sobao', whole wheat (which is a great choice because its a whole wheat version of their best bread) and their regular Cuban bread...all are great choices. They never fail to put enough meat in their sandwiches.
