The staff is prompt and country friendly.. takes me back to the good old days.. the locals all sit at the locals table which is one long table down the center of the cafe. The conversation is all over the place but is generally kept to local conversation. I ordered the special of the day (Meatloaf with mashed tatters and green beans) it included the salad bar and drink all for $6.99 (can't beat that price). The meal was good ole moms cookin. The salad bar was stocked with different accoutrements for a salad and one of the best things was that even though I was eating at 1pm in the afternoon the lettuce was fresh, crisp and there was NO browning on the lettuce (like it was hand torn and not cut like most restaurants. (The stainless steel knife blades start oxidation of the lettuce)) The meatloaf was great, tender, juicy and seasoned with the natural goodness of onions, bell peppers, salt and pepper. Topped with a ketchup, worcestershire and brown sugar topping. The taters were fresh and the weakest part of the meal was the green beans. Canned but still seasoned well and still a good flavor. Overall this is a real gem of a place. Whenever I come through i will definitely be stopping in for a bite of good ole country cookin.
