I thought to myself," is this a rummage sale or a restaurant?" Waitress was really friendly. Menu was small for breakfast. I ordered simple breakfast of 1 egg, 1 Swedish pancake and a slice of bacon. The Swedish pancake was so-so with rubbery texture and a sad little potion of seedy lingonberry. The IKEA lingonberry are much better. That plate was 9.99. Not worth the money spent. My hubby got 2 eggs over easy, sausage and Swedish rye toast. The sausages were plump and large and tasted great. The toast was the star of the plate. Waitress said they bake fresh every other day. Would I come back? Probably not..... not for the price or amt of food. read more

We shared this beauty of a pancake covered with warm spiced peaches and immediately wished we had ordered two! A Swedish pancake is a little more custard like than the traditional American pancakes at other places. It's a wonderful taste treat. They offer it in a variety of ways from plain with butter and syrup to covered with lingonberry. We opted for the peaches and were delighted! We also tried their potato pancakes and received three large golden brown pancakes served with applesauce and sour cream. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. We'd never had them in any other place so have no basis for comparison so give them a try. The seemed to need salt and the pitcher of liquid butter served on every table helped. Yes a pitcher of warm melted butter on every table. We heard people talking about how good their homemade soup is so we tried their split pea soup. I don't like split pea soup but this was awesome. Smoky goodness with chunks of ham potatoes carrots and onions. I'm a convert. Try the soup! Who cares if you're also eating pancakes?! Both are amazing! read more

This is undeniably a unique place to have breakfast. The food is hearty and like homemade.the staff are consistently friendly and thoughtful. We managed to sit down right as a group of ten sat and our waitress made sure to get our order for two in before the ten top so we wouldn't have to wait a long time. We had an enormous cinnamon roll which we shared a 1/4 of then took the rest home. The Swedish pancakes and sausage are hearty and will keep you going all day. We hiked it off in a local park. Meanwhile my husband's salad with crab (we hoped doesn't say imitation on the menu) and tiny shrimp was just mediocre and served on a bed of only iceberg lettuce. When he asked what the dressing was he was told "it goes with that salad. !!" Our destination for lunch closed at 2 perhaps this spot should too. We had a really rough night attempting to camp in the wind in Gladstone so we were in less than a good mood when we stopped by for breakfast here. Fortunately the food was so amazing it helped turn our day around! The french toast was so good my husband ate what he had cold, leftover, the next day. I loved the Swedish pancakes. I almost always get the swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, and mashed rutabaga. If you're a coffee drinker they give you a full pot of coffee on the table. I thought the potato sausage was really unique and interesting, but the flavor and texture were just a little odd for me. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't think I would order that again. I'd never had rutabagas outside of pasties, and was not a fan- it just sort of tasted like a bowl of bland mush. Their cole slaw was REALLY good though, possibly one of the best I've had! First of all, this place is full of colorful knock knacks that move and chime and play music. It's a baby wonderland if you have an infant that needs to be entertained. We decided to take the 6 hour round trip drive from Sault Saint Marie in order to try Swedish Pantry. My partner in crime is Swedish and dreams if the Swedish food his mother used to make. So what did we do? We ordered your basic smorgasbord: potato pancakes, Swedish pancakes (crêpes) in the form of the breakfast combo because you can pick Swedish meatballs or Swedish potato sausage as part of the combo, which includes two very yummy pancakes and one small piece of sausage. We ordered two Swedish Meat Balls as a side. No side of potato sausage was present on the menu. The sausage is slightly bland and a grey boiled color. The casing rather rubbery in texture. Would probably have been yummy if browned/fried? The Meatballs are tasty,served with a caned brown gravy ? Of course we were served..... Lingonberries imported from Sweden! A very good product. Three large potato pancakes come in an order. The potatoes are shredded fresh and served crispy with sour cream and apple sauce. Now let's talk about the amazing Swedish Pancakes. For those of you not familiar, these are like a crepe. Two come with the combo to include either butter and syrup or lingonberries. Go for the berries y'all. LOL We will request the sausage be grilled the next time we dine. We will be back! Total bill about $30.00. Oh, there are no caps/T-shirt's/sweatshirts with the Pantry's name nor Swedish in nature. A few choice small woven ornaments, pancake mix, imported Lingonberries and maybe a mug or two. There is a very awesome selection of painted ceramic wall clocks in the shape of Dogs, Cats, to include children's and coffee themed designs. We have been here off and on for twenty-five years. The bakery is the highlight with much official Swedish fare like limps bread and lots of other pies and pasteries . My life likes the Swedish pancakes and they were fine today. I usually have eggs. Today the eggs were burned on the bottom and required a knife to cut through them. The potato's were mushy and tasteless. So for the moment a big slip. I hope for a recovery soon. read more
