If I could select no stars, I would...I'm a Washington born, 55 year old white caucasian female owner of a small business helping breast cancer survivors become whole but also functioning with knee, spine and neck issues from a crippling athletic injury from high school. Even though injuries are the reason I entered PT at Swedish Edmonds, I must continue working the very best I can while maintaining a semblance of my life which includes being a number in the Obama Care system. The original DPT assigned to my case early this year was great. She was contemporary, educated with new modalities, able to communicate and cared about the patient and my improved and positive results.
Until she walked off the job and moved away without warning to another state, leaving me halfway through treatment and with no one to speak to, no answers, no one available. Me, my case and I were abandoned and put on low priority in front of higher paying patients, as I called and left messages with the Supervisor of the dept and no one returned my call for weeks. Then the Supervisor went on a 3 week vacation with another few weeks upon her return before she returned my call from months previous. In the mean time, all the good work I had accomplished with the first PT began to unravel. Communication was a problem regardless of the hours I spent calling, filling out forms, cross referencing, to no avail.
There is no Medical Doctor overseeing regular therapists or the Supervisor at Swedish Edmonds PT, they're not medically supervised or held accountable for their behavior, decisions or interaction with patients. All of the DPT's are unqualified in the sports taping arena, are not educated and unable to do sports taping which my case required.
This is what a hospital offers? The lowest level of qualified PT's?
I was eventually assigned a new therapist after weeks of stress, medical offices not communicating with each other or me, being told all sorts of promises and lies after weeks of paperwork, asked to repeat the same paperwork, over and over and no one ever knew what was going on at Swedish, no one was talking to me about solving issues. It was the circus of error with me suffering in the middle, no one cared at Swedish, no one had answers and depts were battling with each other for redundant info that never delivered promised services. Because I could not afford the good insurance, because I am, like their offensive paperwork announces: a charity case and was treated like one. Shameful Swedish.
The PT did not introduce herself, was upset that she was asked to do homework about me before I arrived, was defensive, angry and unwilling to listen to the things that worked for me before. She failed to do a verbal assessment of any kind or take measurements as a ground zero starting point. She was personally unable to communicate without a close mind, it was apparent that her 30 years experience were the only way things were done in her world to the detriment of her patient and were prohibitive to her performing her basic job duties.
During the 3 harmful PT sessions with this accusatory, blaming attitude therapist, more harm was done to me than good. I have had PT all over the world, including 9 years of focused Neuromuscular therapy in NY and never have I experienced such bad treatment as I have with the Supervisor of the PT dept at Swedish Edmonds and the PT who was handed my case because she was the ONLY ONE qualified to offer sports taping, and not qualified at all as it turned out.
I have never felt more like a charity case than I did at Swedish, just as embarrassed to be "in the system" and low income as the way I was treated, like a poor human without rights.
The only thing Swedish cared about was paperwork, payment, insurance coverage through the mess of medical office confusion. No one ever took the initiative to call me with issues until it was too late every time. There was no discussion before my sessions or during, but only after because of hospital paperwork issues.
At no time has anyone at Swedish Edmonds treated me with the respect I deserve as a human being, it was never about care and no one there is held accountable because they're not being overseen by a Medical Doctor. There is an alledged Medical Director who never saw my case and knows nothing about it. The Supervisor makes bad reactive decisions based on where I fall on the financial ladder, always at the bottom.
So, beware: Its glaringly apparent the only thing Swedish Edmonds cares about is providing care for those who can afford it which flies in the face of the very nature of their business as a non-profit and clearly abolishes their mission of providing care regardless of ability to pay. . I cant state firmly enough that if you want substandard care and to be treated like a non-human....Swedish Edmonds PT dept is for you. read more
