Hello fellow Yelpers! I get to view your culinary photos while I'm recovering at home from same day surgery at Swedish Medical Center (former Stevens Hospital) in Edmonds (3/12/24). It was an early start getting dropped off, but felt safe seeing onsite security and less nervous sitting in pleasant, clean surroundings waiting for patient registration to open. From registration, pre-op process and prep, (general anesthesia - surgery), the post-op/discharge, picking up my wallet from their safe, and escorted by wheelchair to my college friend's car...all was professional, seamless, and without incident. The hospital staff were very upbeat, thorough, and personable...lost track of all the several folks I interacted with this morning. Nursing staff, EKG/lab work, transport staff, OR staff including the surgeon and anestheiologist, and recovery/post-op discharge staff - from start to finish - was a great experience! Everyone was masked but you could feel the smiles, warmth, and camraderie...what a terrific work place environment! This helped tremendously putting me at ease and reduced my nervousness. You're in especially good hands with Gladys, very experienced pre-op nurse and IV pro, and Greg post-op/discharge nurse from New Zealand. Greg - I hope the dining recommendations are enjoyed by you and your wife. A Yelp Elite & IGer even when in the hospital, lol. My overall care at Swedish Medical Center - Edmonds was on par with previous surgical visits or stays at other Seattle facilities: University of Washington Medical Center, Swedish Medical Center - First Hill, Virginia Mason, and Northwest Eye Surgeons. I'm hoping for no complications and a full recovery thanks to the care received from Swedish Medical Center in Edmonds.

My bruise today- two weeks later from an unsuccessful stick by a doctor in the MRI room.

I asked my oncologist at Fred Hutch and she told me to please right away go to the nearest Urgent Care and get the infection confirmed (in case there was a problem with a home test) and get treatment, since I am high risk. I drove to the Swedish Edmonds Urgent Care. I walked in at about 2:40 p.m. on March 5th, 2026 and spoke with a woman working at the window who had long dark hair pulled back in a ponytail. I said to her, I have stage 4 cancer and took a covid test that came back positive and my oncologist would like me to get that confirmed and to get treatment, because I'm high risk. The woman responded flatly, "We don't do that here, just give a covid test." She asked no questions and didn't talk beyond the denial. I then explained that I'd used a home test, so my oncologist would like me to confirm with an Urgent Care test and get treated, likely with Paxlovid. The lady repeated that they don't do that there, and they don't just give Paxlovid. She went on to say kurtly that they treat people with symptoms, they don't provide tests. The desk gal didn't even bother to ask me why I'd given myself the covid test or all me any questions at all! People usually take a home test because they aren't feeling well. Instead of being courteous she just went directly to the negative, "We don't do that here." Then in a disinterested tone, she said, "If you want to, you can sit over there and wait to talk to someone about symptoms." I told her never mind, because I needed to also confirm the Covid test results and if they couldn't do that I'd just go somewhere else - maybe an urgent care that is willing to help a high risk person with stage 4 cancer and Covid! This cold dismissive woman heard me twice say I am stage 4 and that my oncologist wanted me to come in to confirm the Covid test results and be treated, yet still she still offered no help whatsoever and very few words at all in addressing my request. Avoid this place, it is not urgent care because it doesn't care, period.

After calling my primary care facility, I was urged to head to Swedish Edmonds Urgent Care for evaluation. I want to thank the staff onsite for making this as straightforward, transparent, professional, and expedient as possible during a stressful time. Collectively, all of the staff that we interacted with and provided care from start to finish was a positive experience. It is important to have ID and medical insurance card upon check-in. Nect steps information and a printout of one's visit are also provided. This was my first time to be referred and evaulated at Swedish Edmonds Urgent Care. I appreciate the care received and that they are easily accessible from Hwy 99.

Overall, if the reviews left by others are half way accurate there are many holes in their system of care that desperately need to be addressed--and corrected! I was treated well and was attended to in short time. I came in with a bloody injury on my ankle that was visible as I wrapped it in a white towel and put clear packing tape on it. In other words, I had a visible blood-soaked injury showing. So maybe that had something to do with the speed of their treatment. I also brought with me a large Ikea plastic bag filled with towels if the bleeding started again, some of which were heavily blood stained. The only reason I sought care at the ER was on the advisement of the nurse hotline who gave me a course of action to follow; I needed a tetanus and a medical provider to lay eyes on the wound. There was mention of admitting me to the hospital, which seemed overkill, so I told them I had to get to work and was already late. From my family group history, I know that this emergency room saves lives (when an ambulance arrives at the back with a patient about to expire). So, those providing trauma care don't let people die!

I've had physicals in the past so I know how they go. There was nothing out of the ordinary in this one. They took my blood, listened to heartbeat, did reflexes, etc. I finished and was sent on my way. 2 weeks later I surprisingly receive a bill and it appears that my insurance didn't cover anything at all, despite insurance supposedly covering annual check-ups. I call their billing dept. and was told that since I mentioned having more headaches than normal, it was an office visit rather than an annual checkup? Wtf? I've had physicals in the past where they ask how I'm doing and I tell them honestly and have never been billed. I ask why wasn't I told during my check in, and the person on the phone says that the medical assistant tried to called me but couldn't reach me and so they changed it without my knowledge and consent. If I had known that I was going to get charged for bringing up a topic I COULD LITERALLY GOOGLE, I would have never came in. Procedures for a physical were also conducted so why isn't that also there in the notes? Very sus and super opaque by my standards. They also said that the doctor told me during the exam but that's a lie, because I would have left immediately. What incentive does a doctor have to tell you that you'd be billed for something, when they get paid for it? It seems like this clinic doesn't give two hoots about the actual health of their patients and are just out for your money. I had multiple calls trying to talk to someone who could do something about this, but all they said was that "we can't change it because the service was provided". So, if I go in, and they give me something I never asked for, I'm billed? I'm out $400, because of negligence and a lack of effort to try to do the right thing. These people are horrible and don't care about you. Also keep in mind that you must lie to your doctor during physicals if there's anything wrong, because if you tell the truth, they'll bill you. Doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?

One of the customer service staff was friently, the rest of them, including the medical support, was dismissive. One man, I believe a PA, impressed me with his knowledge, but he was only one minor piece of the puzzle. Others were impersonal and unempathic, did not care about the quality of the care they projected. I listened and observed, carefully taking notes of a rather onesided monoloque. Something is clearly wrong in this facility; seems to be a political cuture issue. Long time yelp reviews substantiate this possibility. Of course, I could be wrong, just my honest impression/opinion. Upon leaving the appointment there was an icy silence between myself and my loved one. I knocked, as we were told to be there 10 minutes earlier and we've had places cancel the appointment. There was no answer to the knock, so we waited until they opened the door again at 1:30p. As we walked in, the woman opening the curtain looked annoyed with us and said: "Knocking wasn't going to do anything since we were having a staff meeting. There was no point in you doing that." I told the woman we were told to arrive at 1:20 which is why we knocked to check, and she rolled her eyes and walked away. It was pretty shocking to hear that as we walked in the door. Not an apology for being told to arrive when the office was closed and having to wait outside for 10 minutes; a reprimand. There were no chairs, and I had brought my mom that uses a walker in. We were fortunate she had her walker today that can convert to a seat. It almost doesn't matter how good the medical care may be, if you immediately feel unsafe and unwelcome walking in the door. I didn't say anything while we were there, but this was a pretty nasty experience. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because Dr. Ding was really kind... but we were already feeling pretty unwelcome by the time we even talked to her.

They checked me in in minutes, and found my insurance that had just taken effect a couple days earlier. Nice! The system texted me some info to fill out, and she told me it would list me as being seen in about 25 minutes, but it would be much sooner. The PA came out within 60 seconds to say that they didn't house one piece of equipment I'd need as part of a full eval, and I should go around the corner to the ER. He definitely felt bad delivering this news, and explained it even more thoroughly than he really needed to. I got it right away. He was quick to say that they would cancel the visit and not charge me. Even though I ended up missing the whole game, he was spot-on about what the ER would do to evaluate the infection. I got great care there, thankfully much of it in front of a fuzzy, dim TV showing the game. So I can't really complain about anything other than my own procrastination for leaving the trip until late afternoon.
