Scheduling was easy, the facilities were beautiful and calming, and everyone I interacted with was kind, professional, and clearly very skilled at what they do. Dr. Lim herself is a gem -- amazingly kind, easy to talk to, and she took the time to explain everything in a way that made me feel completely at ease. It's rare to find a doctor who combines expert care with such genuine warmth. Her team of smart, supportive women worked together flawlessly, making both my endoscopy and colonoscopy truly pain-free and smooth. And the best part? On my ER visit it was obvious all ER staff were all working hard, the ER room was full, and they were addressing all (even if there was a back up) But mutual respect would be nice, as well as clear communication. I understand if there are higher priorities or if there is a wait. But once you get the opportunity to be seen you deserve to be heard and the next steps in your care be communicated clearly. My loved one spent 5 days in the NICU Level II center. She wore phototherapy sunglasses while under her light therapy. All the nurses really helped explain with visually showing us how the babies numbers were trending. A couple of the nurses even called us at home to share the overnight news. I felt my infant loved one was in good care. We were warmly sent off with sweet goodbyes when it was thankfully time to come home. Thank you nurses. read more

My elderly mother in law spent 22 days here after a stroke. She was expected to go to a rehabilitation facility within 3-5 days but her stay was extended due to an infection she came down with. Was transferred out to a rehabilitation facility on day 22. I helped change her on arriving at the facility. She has multiple large bed sores. Completely unacceptable. Hello fellow Yelpers! I get to view your culinary photos while I'm recovering at home from same day surgery at Swedish Medical Center (former Stevens Hospital) in Edmonds (3/12/24). It was an early start getting dropped off, but felt safe seeing onsite security and less nervous sitting in pleasant, clean surroundings waiting for patient registration to open. From registration, pre-op process and prep, (general anesthesia - surgery), the post-op/discharge, picking up my wallet from their safe, and escorted by wheelchair to my college friend's car...all was professional, seamless, and without incident. The hospital staff were very upbeat, thorough, and personable...lost track of all the several folks I interacted with this morning. Nursing staff, EKG/lab work, transport staff, OR staff including the surgeon and anestheiologist, and recovery/post-op discharge staff - from start to finish - was a great experience! Everyone was masked but you could feel the smiles, warmth, and camraderie...what a terrific work place environment! This helped tremendously putting me at ease and reduced my nervousness. You're in especially good hands with Gladys, very experienced pre-op nurse and IV pro, and Greg post-op/discharge nurse from New Zealand. Greg - I hope the dining recommendations are enjoyed by you and your wife. A Yelp Elite & IGer even when in the hospital, lol. My overall care at Swedish Medical Center - Edmonds was on par with previous surgical visits or stays at other Seattle facilities: University of Washington Medical Center, Swedish Medical Center - First Hill, Virginia Mason, and Northwest Eye Surgeons. Workmanship competition. From the time I went in I was treated like a second class citizen even though I've worked my whole life. Finally 2 months later I need a ct scan back at this hospital. They gave me bad information saying I needed approval from workman competition. Cause, I tried to contact them. After 1 and a half hours I tried calling sweedish edmonds and being on hold I gave up. I found out they gave me false information about getting a CT scan I should have received in the first place. I was told I needed approval from my claims manager. False. I was told that they would contact her and put a urgent request. I finally called my claims manager and she had no contact from them. It has been 2 months since my ribs were broken. I didn't want to but it's time to get a lawyer involved! So sad they lost any compassion for people that have never experienced this injury. ​ read more

Our elderly grandma was there for a heart issue and then started showing signs of severe hallucinations and delirium. The doctors knew the nurses knew they had to restrain her And many other things happened. Never once did they think a UTI was the cause or test for it until my wife heard it from her sister-in-law, that it's a thing. Sure enough it was a UTI, which is a common thing that causes delirium in seniors. I'm glad the doctors didn't think of that but my wife who is a hairstylist did. Good work, Swedish Edmonds. Nicu parents, First of all congrats on your baby and second of all my deepest condolences. Being a nicu parent is so difficult on so many levels. I want to leave a bit of a cautionary review for those who are thinking of getting transferred to this nicu from Swedish first hill. Don't. Keep your baby at first hill. There isn't anything awful about this nicu and we are so immensely thankful for the wonderful nurses and doctors. But let me go over a few things. Parking. Is. A. Joke. You are parking at least 2 blocks away and if you're healing from a c section that is not fun. Quality of environment, this nicu is simply much smaller. Meaning if you have a 3rd person say, a child you need to bring in with you-you can't. Imagine how hard that was w a 3 year old. Staffing. Like a lot of places they are short staff. They have a lot of "cuddlers". Which I wasn't informed that my babies were being held by- until after the fact. I came to terms with that and a great gratitude for the cuddlers but a heads up would've been great considering how out of control you feel as a parent in the nicu. The shortness of staff left us with inconsistent updates- us having to impart crucial information from the night before to the day shift staff at times. This really put us in a weird head space as one doctor would say let's discharge then the next would not recieve the same intel and push our discharge out even further. The nurses, I hate to ever say anything negative about the people who work so hard and pour so much into their patients. There are a few nurses who have poor bedside manner to the point where my husband was breaking down in tears after a doctor had told us days prior our babies would be home within the week and when we re iterated this an eavesdropping nurse told him "nope not a chance". I want to say a huge thank you to the nurses and doctors. Thank you for doing the work you do. I know a lot of the negativity of this experience likely comes from and under staffed over worked issue. But from the interest of a parent if you have the ability to stay at first hill; you should. read more

I went the the ER twice in two week. The first time I went, the check in staff was very friendly, I waited about three hours but was seen by Dr. Glenn during the beginning of his shift and he was good. Ran the tests and listened. My only complaint for this visit was that they immediately put drugs in me which made me feel better but also prevented me from advocating for myself fully. The second time around, I refused drugs. The second time around, I was not given a bed but rather was seen in a tent. The check in staff again was friendly and I went this time on a Sunday so the wait was non existent. I had three attempts at getting my blood and I feel like only the last nurse listened and thanked me for advocating for myself. The other nurse and doctor just went ahead with full size needles and really bruised me up bad. I'm writing this review two weeks later and still have huge bruises on my arms. The doctor in the tent told me he didn't know what was wrong, upped the opioids and sent me about my way. Couldn't refer me to a PCP and the wait for UW Primary Care is through December. Not the hospitals fault. Overall as a Black woman, I felt heard. It's terrifying being a POC and having to seek care but advocate for yourself and if they're doing something you don't think is right, ask to speak to the charge nurse and document it- both for yourself and in your chart. 00000 stars!!! DO NOT GO HERE! I REPEAT DO NOT GO HERE! The lack of knowledge and care provided for my father was horrific! He was in for a head injury/ Covid and poisoning. Instead of helping him they tied him down and doped him up. They did not listen to my mother and her instructions and never updated her but instead would say disrespectful things in return. When my mom said she needed to transfer him to his preferred hospital.... Guess... what.. they ... said! "We would like to see you try"! He would be fine while we were there during the day. No restraints or drugs but the second we left they would go against our wishes and gave him the max amount of sedative when ever he started talking or asked to go to the bathroom. He was left laying in his own piss for hours and never gave him bath! He was there for 10 days! No bath, no care and no respect! He should have been there for a max of 4 days but the second he started recovering they took his voice away! Literally they doped him up to the point were he physically couldn't form words and then claimed he was cognitively no longer there and was declining in health to the point his family no longer could visit him. I am sick over this but am thankful that we chose to take him home against the hospitals bullshit advice. He has now at this point been home for one day and is looking, feeling and sounding much better than he was doing at the hospital. THIS HOSPITAL SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN! read more

This facility has to rank lowest across the U.S. I went to the emergency department early afternoon and they were not unusually busy as far as I could see. From checkin to treatment/discharge there is NO confidentiality protection (HIPPA). Patients were literally being diagnosed and treated in the ED lobby. I went in to the ED at the request of their affiliate Urgent Care Clinic. While some of my symptoms/issues were personal, just the fact that no one other than the doctor I thought I would see is entitled to know my medical details. Apparently the only way you can be placed in a private ED room is if an aid car/ambulance transported you. I went in for potentially serious symptoms. I did not see a doctor. A physician's assistant evaluated me, ordered the MRI and discharged me. I expect to wait a long time when I go to the ED. I DID NOT expect not to be diagnosed AND treated by a PA instead of a licensed physician. I did not receive thorough evaluation and treatment. The PA did not go through the MRI results with me other than to say the one thing that my diagnosis WAS NOT. There were many other radiologist findings which may or may not be related to the symptoms I had. NO thoughts on what it could be OR any further testing. I know enough about medical to know that my symptoms should have also included at a minimum a full blood draw panel. So this has gone on for 6 days and I may be a trace better. Because of the low quality of care I received, I must now decide whether to go to another hospital ED, or how to go forward with my care. I have a primary care physician but he is booking out at least 2 - 3 weeks. The employees I encountered were friendly and efficient other than the PA. AND because a PA must be supervised by a MD for health insurance to pay for care, the cubicle I was diagnosed/treated in had 3 hospital employees in it. The PA did not introduce the other 2 men in the cubicle, but my assumption is that one of them was a MD. Difficult to know for sure - he had no ID or name on his scrubs and didn't add anything whatsoever to the medical conversation. With my husband with me, there were a total of five people in that small cubicle. Swedish ED is a great example of our crumbling healthcare system in this country. Save time and energy when you have little or none to give and choose another, any other hospital ED!!! read more

This is a review for the Edmonds oncology department. I wanted to switch oncologists and all of the other doctors in this group refused to take a transfer from an established patient, so now I'm being forced to shop for a new oncologist. (I'm not a problem patient). I can't go to the Everett clinic which is the other major oncologist group in the area because Optum refuses to see Regence MedAdvantage patients. These doctors all are taking new patients. My status is NED, so I would be only having 2 20 minute appointments a year. Not exactly a patient that would take time. I am in complete disbelief that they would be doing this, and trying to fight back tears (I'm not normally someone who cries). This is completely irresponsible. Beware, if you start as a patient here and want to switch doctors you may be left without care. read more

My grandma was at this hospital for about a week. They ran test after test. We never really knew what was wrong with her. Just a handful of things according to them. I came by on a Tuesday to visit her. The RUDE workers up front said there was no way I could see her if I was not the designated supporter. Well, not unless she was end of life, at which, that point, we had no idea how she was really doing. The following day, my mom gets the call. My grandma is dead. I went here with appendicitis and they did absolutely NOTHING FOR ME. We waited for over 4 hours, I was at 8.5 level pain, yelping in agony, in the middle of the night and they had absolutely NO ONE CARE FOR ME. With my poor daughter trying to keep me from collapsing, realizing there was no relief in sight, I instead hobbled the frick out of there and rode in blinding, excruciating anguish, to Evergreen in Kirkland, where I was taken care of right away. The emergency crew on the night my mother was admitted was a terrifying experience. When the nurses transferred my mother from one bed to another was traumatic. my mother admitted as a fall victim and 93 years old. The two nurses, primarily one basically threw my mom onto the other bed. The blonde tall nurse could really give a shit. She was rude and condescending . I just had a procedure at UW hospital and the quality of care was so much better. Also the nurses stand around laughing and chit chatting while there are sick people waiting to be treated in the hallways is VERY unprofessional. The administrator should be aware of this! since this incident i have admitted my mother another time, different nurses each time and was better than the previous. my rating is based on the first visit a couple months ago. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. We came here with heart attack symptoms. It took two hours plus before they did an ekg and said "you're fine" then a few hour later they did another ekg, and confirmed that there was "no cause" for the symptoms. If the seven hours of being treated as subhuman wasn't enough, they sent us a bill for $1200. I'm here, now with pneumonia in both lungs and sepsis on leftside I've been here since Tuesday last week. I have had a MAJOR issue with pain management or Lack of since I can't breath and it's painful and we had a second plug go in to day with no real answers why I've requested over and over to speak to a doctor in my charge or charge nurse since mine as well as the others seem to either ignore my calls or don't show period. I had to sit in my own pee many time and a few hours at once it gross and embarrassing. I can't reach a nurse on time my roommate had dementia and keeps me up they said no other rooms available. How am I to recover at all in stressful environment and horrible pain. It's scary to be here I would not recommend it. I am so hurt I can't even cry now. I'm still here too so it's not fun. I've been suffering from a neck pain. This pain, I've been ignoring and thought I could make it go away. A week to three weeks went by and I became worse. I couldn't keep standing for long and couldn't sit for a long time either. It became very difficult to work with this pain. I decided to get help. Although, the process of getting the help is another story. I stayed positive. If you ever suffer from a neck pain where you can't think straight and feel disabled, Get the help. I strongly believe that the staff here are caring, highly skilled and are also human beings. I got to know my caregivers. Im sure they also go through some health problems. So I'm sure they know what it's like to be patients as well. The frustrations of not being mobile and helpless at times. They sometimes seem stern and uncaring but I think this is because they want to stay focused to be of better service. They are thinking carefully how to help. Their intentions to help is sometimes misunderstood. Yes, there might be some who are the "not-so-good" at what they do but at least from all my experiences , I know they are trying their best to help me and all my worries. I feel I am well cared for here. I always come here for all of my medical concerns . I am always grateful for the results. The processes may take time but I also try to be an easy patient. Even with so much pain, I understand that there is a system to get the best help. I learned and got to know my caregivers more than I should . I don't know what I would do without having a doctor, a nurse, technicians and so on , and so on. It take a community to get the help even those who are behind the scenes to help push the paper work are unnoticed at times . I am grateful that this facility is accessible. I am grateful I have not experienced a terrible care here. This place is very convenient and very easy to get to. I can't imagine living in a place without these wonderful healthcare workers . Can you? One advise I can share is to be a good patient and learn the system as well. Know how insurances work while waiting for future appointments to lessen some burden or the unexpected scenarios. It really helps to know. I learned that while these healthcare workers do their job on a day to day basis, they never stop learning and continue to learn as they are mandated. They study continuously in class , on-line and or before/after work, even on their time off. They have to learn the computer aspect of the healthcare system and with minimal assistance. They put in a lot of time to do practical or clinical hours as well. Kudos to our heroes who are in this line of work. Thank you very much for all your hard work. Well I was in the hospital on 2/24/24 I saw a nurse "wash" their hands with hand disinfectant then immediately wipe his nose with his hand. I also saw a nurse pull a part of gloves put them in their hand then walked around touching god knows what then act like they where still clean. The sign on the door to the ER says "Masks required" but nearly half the staff did not wear a mask or wore it incorrectly. So between injecting me with medication I'm ALLERGIC TO TWICE. Exposing everyone to anything they have come into contact with one star is too much. read more

If you're pregnant, DO NOT COME HERE TO DELIVER YOUR BABY. Even if this hospital did a good job with deliveries, Providence Everett is a far better option. Or really any other Swedish Campus. I asked a million moms around me where they delivered. NOBODY said Swedish Edmonds, and most made a face when I said I did. That should have been a warning sign. Listen to the people around you. I gave them my paper birth plan when I got to the hospital that specified i'd like to be kept in the know as to when we would be thinking of starting Pitocin, as I was induced. Things move quickly usually after that, so I shared that I wanted to get my epidural after starting it. Pitocin was plugged into my IV while my husband and I were sleeping around 1AM. I called the nurse in, (shocked, not even mad/rude) and asked when I'd be able to have my epidural, as this is my first baby. The nurse told me "Well, you're going to have to tell me you want it before it's too late." ??? I said "I'd like it now, please?" Anesthesiologist came an hour later to place my review. Took him THIRTEEN attempts. I have no back problems/curvature at all. I wad sobbing and shaking through contractions during this. After my water broke, my daughter stayed in me for 18 hours. I didn't realize this was problematic and trusted the hospital. Silly. About 10 hours in, I started to feel warm. 12 in, has a fever. 14 in, was finally administered antibiotics as my amniotic fluid was infected. When she was delivered, her lungs were filled with infected water. She was in the NICU for two days, which made our scheduled Inducing a 4 day visit. SOME of the hospital staff was very nice, and the cafeteria food was surprisingly good. But that is not a balance for this hospital. My experience was awful. In Nov. 2022, I had my third heart attack. The worst one of the three. I had never felt such pain, even with my first one. While repairing my blocked stents, this guy scolded me twice because my groaning was bothering him. I am sure he would say "I saved your life". To which I say "that's your job. That's what they pay you for, and that's why you were on duty that day." If I had died, no one would have blamed him. But since I didn't die, he thinks he's a hero. He even brought it up when I had my follow-up, again commenting on the fact that I was groaning while he worked me. That's why I changed cardiologists. read more

I understand burn out and being understaffed, I really do. But I spent 6 hours waiting in the ER, only to be sent home. During those 6 hours, ambulances came and dropped patients off in the waiting room because there are no beds, not even for the severely ill. The two women at the front desk were laughing about a woman who was repeatedly vomiting in the waiting room. No one helped her. It was like being in a bad movie. When I was brought back for labs, there was a patient locked in one of the rooms, screaming to be let out, and she was ignored. After I was blown off and sent home, my primary care doctor insisted I go back to the hospital because my labs indicated I needed immediate surgery. I went to a different hospital, who immediately identified I needed emergency surgery, and rolled me into the operating room. Unless and until this place has a major overhaul, I wouldn't put your medical care in their hands. read more

My sister was allowed to see my father but I am unable to see my dying father in the hospital even though I am family. Horrible facility and no compassion or love towards patients. Patients are not assembling cargo. Just cause you take care of them for like 30 minutes and leave them alone for 2 hour minimum doesn't mean they don't require love/companionship. I was a caregiver and I know how these hospitals and rehab facilities operate. Wait till you doctors and nurses are weak and vulnerable and see how it feels being treated like an assembly cargo. My husband had a very good experience at Swedish Hospital. He had minor surgery, but did need to spend the night. All nurses, doctors and aids were very efficient and pleasant. Rooms were well maintained. Waiting room for surgery was wonderful. Volunteers monitoring the desk were delightful. The system was very helpful. A color code on a screen is used to tell you where the patient is in the process. Definitely pleased with the overall experience. read more

Dr. Thomas Kawano has been treating an elderly woman in her 80's named Bronwyn. She has peripheral artery disease and an almost completely blocked artery, which causes a lot of pain in her leg. Kawano scheduled her for an angioplasty a couple of months ago, but at the last minute, pushed her surgery back 3 weeks. It seems someone more important needed tending to. Needless to say, Bronwyn is very upset, because she is not only in a lot of pain, but she had to go to a lot of trouble to coordinate with caretakers for surgery day. Now, she has to reschedule everything, and who knows if Kawano will actually go through with the surgery or reschedule her again? On top of this, Kawano has 0 bedside manner, so if you have any choice in the matter, I would suggest a different doctor. read more

THIS IS FOR THE NEUROLOGY DEPARTMENT: If zero or negative stars was an option, they'd be getting negative from me. I was referred here by my former PCP because of having state insurance and the referring doctor not being part of Everett Clinic. My very first visit with Ramirez was through telemedicine. It was a very quick 20 minute video call where she asked me very basic questions and set up an EMG appointment. I later went through the notes and after visit summary in MyChart. She flat out said after only speaking to me for 20 minutes that my symptoms were most likely psycho sematic due to my long medical history. That was bad enough. But let's fast forward. I had the EMG and an office visit where she set up an MRI. I had the MRI just 2 days ago (July 24). Low and behold, I do in fact have SEVERAL lesions on my brain AND a 6mm (1/4 inch) cyst on my pineal gland. But everything is "normal". When I wrote her a message in MyChart about how having several lesions on the brain isn't normal and neither is having a piss poor quality of life even though I've tried absolutely everything to help with my symptoms (including psychiatric meds) I got a message back asking if I would like a referral for a social worker. What in TF is a social worker going to do about my neurological symptoms that I haven't already tried? You really need to not only have some sensitivity training, but you also need to not be immediately dismissive of a patient's symptoms and then treat them as such. read more
