I have gotten no response after 3 requests for one letter of appeal that they supposedly sent to OR. I think they got one bad apple and one unresponsive guy trying to save his *ashtray in there that is ruining it for everyone. My two clients are probably going to end up owing somewhere between $30000 and $100000 just to the State of OR. If they send a referral to the IRS it could be 3 times that amount. This bad apple they have there as confirmed by my investigation is apparantly down with cancer. And while she has my best wishes to get well soon, I would not want to get near the Heat she's drawing down on Checked and Balanced customers.

After receiving multiple letters from the IRS I contacted checked & balanced 3 more times. In which they informed me they "forgot". They have completely stopped responding to emails and phone calls. After speaking with an auditor from the IRS I learned that Jen has been doing this for years. She makes up numbers, isn't licensed to practice, and ghosts clients as soon as they get audited. BEWARE that Jen and her company is fraudulent. Expect to owe the IRS if she files your taxes!

Sent out our 1099s using the WRONG ACCOUNT - our Independent Contractors all received 1099s with the employer listed as a veterinary service. Sent out incorrect w2s. All while charging EXORBITANT fees beyond what was agreed to. Whenever we caught them in a mistake, they would make excuses, blaming the state, or us, or "we never got that password." According to the state a significant amount of the paperwork they filed for us was incorrect and we owe a lot of money. The state also said that the company could have gained access to everything they said they "couldn't do" with one phone call to them. Fraud? Incompetence? You decide. Just stay far away if you need a bookkeeper.
