Sent out our 1099s using the WRONG ACCOUNT - our Independent Contractors all received 1099s with the employer listed as a veterinary service. Sent out incorrect w2s. All while charging EXORBITANT fees beyond what was agreed to. Whenever we caught them in a mistake, they would make excuses, blaming the state, or us, or "we never got that password." According to the state a significant amount of the paperwork they filed for us was incorrect and we owe a lot of money. The state also said that the company could have gained access to everything they said they "couldn't do" with one phone call to them. Fraud? Incompetence? You decide. Just stay far away if you need a bookkeeper.

Our…read moretaxes are more complex than I felt confident doing on my own with TurboTax or whatnot, and we wanted professional help. On our initial calls, OD gave us some great free advice on our situation, and quickly built trust. Unfortunately, all that trust was quickly flushed down the drain during the tax prep process. We were pawned off to another accountant, who was very unresponsive and the opposite of prompt. After getting them all of our information weeks before their requested deadline, then multiple emails, calls, and voicemails, we finally got a return call late in the evening only a few days before the filing deadline asking for more information. After this, we didn't receive our review copy of the return until the date of the filing deadline! We had hoped (and communicated the same to OD), to have our CFP (not from OD) review the return before filing, but didn't get this opportunity due to OD being extremely late with the draft. We barely got it in! The simple way to handle this would've been clear communication, an estimate of the taxes we owed, and a recommendation to file and extension. None of this happened. There was no apology or acknowledgment of this, just an impersonal request for feedback months later, and a surprisingly huge $3500 bill (!!) in July. They also promised to review our return with us after the fact and make some recommendations for our next-year tax planning, but never made good on this promise. Needless to say, we will not be using OD in the future. Take your business and dollars elsewhere.

We moved from OR to WA and had our longtime accountant retire recently. O-D claimed that they were the answer for our accounting needs and made numerous promises to get us to sign up. They paired us up with a remote accountant who is never available to meet and won't call us back. Also very condescending. Before we realized what type of business O-D is, we included our daughter, a college student with a part time job, in the tax preparation services. They charged us $1500 to do her very basic taxes! Unbelievable! Under their watch we have to pay in more than we ever have in the history of our business. not personable, not accountable and not prompt. What more could you ask for? Don't find out, go elsewhere.

When I had looked him up again, I noticed that he also offers Quickbooks consulting services which I was also in need of. After discussing this with him, he offered to do Quickbooks training and help setup my companies' profiles. I decided to give the training sessions a go, and I am so glad I did. Getting one on one, step by step guidance during the process has been unbelievably valuable. I also find his teaching methods to be quite effective. I have a finance degree, so I'm familiar with accounting principles, but I knew one small error in the Quickbooks process could spell disaster down the road. I'm glad I spent a little money up front to learn the software properly instead of having to pay big bucks in bookkeeper and accountant fees to sort things out down the road.
